Alright, let's get down to it! Anje Falkenrath is relatively new and I'm not yet sold on her validity as a vampire commander. My primary hang up is the overall weakness of madness as a mechanic. It is still critically underrepresented on cards, and of those that do exist only a handful are actually any good. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I am skeptical that it can compete with existing vampire archetypes.

My overall impression is that you've got a decent base here, but have made several choices that I see a lot of new EDH players make in their early decks. In general, you could use more card draw and I would encourage you to take a look at EDHREC or other vampire decks on here for inspiration in terms of what kinds of effects truly shine in EDH versus other formats.

Fine deck! I see you have plan to win a game at least. And i see you love the vanilla creatures much.

When i first saw Resolute Blademaster, i was inspired to to make a deck on it, but failed when discover that have no card draw in commons. I want to make some suggestions to your deck through.

How about to add more Scry ability to your permanents? Darksteel Pendant, Seer's Lantern, Path of Ancestry

And more graveyard recursion, for more triggers or protection your expensive general? Angelic Renewal, Breath of Life, False Defeat

Also, Soltari Visionary cold be cool removal considering double strike.

Dont forget that changelings is Ally too! Avian Changeling, Fire-Belly Changeling

Bloodcrazed Neonate, Erdwal Ripper, Heirs of Stromkirk grows each turn. And with Double strike they grows twice faster!

Skirk Commando can triggered twice and kill creatures that player wont used as blockers

Some cantrip mana artifacts can give you buff at the start and let play Resolute Blademaster turn earlier, but in late game you can draw cards instead of them to play something else: Boros Cluestone, Commander's Sphere, Mind Stone

Some auras that returning to your hand better then one time tricks. Undying Rage more stable then Brute Force for example

Sorry this comment is coming so late, I REALLY had to sleep, then shit happened, anyway. Sorry.

Your mana base is a little screwy and you have... how many removal spells? I'm probably not one to talk here, but you NEED some removal against commander-centric decks. Making their lives that much harder can give you the edge you need to take them down.

Many of your creatures are suboptimal. Bloodmad Vampire, Erdwal Ripper, Sengir Vampire.

You NEED some Dark Impostor, maybe Sanctum Seeker, Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief (for removal).

I'm a red novice myself but I'll do what I can. Red is a very fast, combat centric color. A lot of red vamps, like Bloodcrazed Neonate, Erdwal Ripper, or Falkenrath Marauders reward you for hitting your opponent's face. Since red is one half of Rakdos colors, there are also red vamps that encourage you to discard cards, like Furyblade Vampire, the above mentioned Olivia, Mobilized for War, or any of number of them with the "Madness" keyword, which lets play them for a special cost if you would normally discard them.

As for non-vamp cards to toss in, I've already discussed damage amp. Most vamps reward you for either hitting face or killing creatures, and damage amp will make both easier. Another nifty trick in red is extra combat phases with cards like Relentless Assault, Aggravated Assault, or Fury of the Horde.

In R/W we have more combat oriented cards, but usually with a more defensive twist. Things like Glory of Warfare or Boros Charm. Things that help you protec but also attac.

In essence, Red and all its subsidiaries are all about one thing: swing. Swing hard and Swing often.

This all seems like basic info to me and I'm not sure it helps, but it's what I've got for you. I hope you get something out of it.

Snap157 on Erdwal Ripper and double strike?

If I cast Assault Strobe on my Erdwal Ripper and deal damage, does the ripper now

  • deal 4 damage and get two +1/+1 counters,

  • deal 2 damage, get a +1/+1 counter, deal 3 damage, get another counter

  • or deal 4 damage and get one +1/+1 counter?

You've got a lot of vamps that need to deal combat damage to make them more powerful (like Bloodmad Vampire). To make sure they get through you could add Rogue's Passage (maybe cut Thespian's Stage or Blighted Fen) and replace Mask of Avacyn with Whispersilk Cloak. I'd also recommend replacing either Rakish Heir, Erdwal Ripper, or Bloodcrazed Neonate with the similar but much more impactful Drana, Liberator of Malakir.

Two other great vamps with low mana costs that offer removal are Guul Draz Assassin and Dark Impostor.

Upgrade Murder with Hero's Downfall.

Replacing Night's Whisper with Sign in Blood is a downgrade on casting cost, but an upgrade flavor-wise!

Hope you found this helpful.
