Falkenrath Marauders Discussion

Chaostrash on Raising Havoc

First off, Falkenrath Marauders feels almost out of place, it can deal damage, but even with it's evasion, it's only limited, plus the fact that there is a lot of Goblin tribal stuff, so I feel you should try to find ways to develop that. One way I can think of is if in case you end up losing Krenko, Mob Boss, cool goblins, or dudes that have etbs, you use Feldon of the Third Path to get them back for a turn.

It comes to my mind more suff that trigger when you attack Captain's Claws, Goblin Rabblemaster, Hero of Bladehold, Brimaz, King of Oreskos, Launch the Fleet, Soltari Champion, Accorder Paladin, Goblin Wardriver, Hero of Oxid Ridge, Wingmate Roc, Frontline Medic, Firemane Avenger.

Or when they deal combat damage Prophetic Flamespeaker Skeleton Key, Mask of Memory, Rogue's Gloves, Specter's Shroud, Destructive Urge, Markov Blademaster, Slith Ascendant, Blinding Angel, Falkenrath Marauders and any of the "sword of A and B".

And more Extert Angel of Condemnation, Tah-Crop Elite, Glorybringer.

I'm always looking for a Boros deck to run the Sunforger too bad you have so few instants.
Card draw is hard in Boros, so I'd also try to use Staff of Nin, The Immortal Sun together with the Ghirapur Orrery you already included.

I hope you find something useful among these cards.

I'm a red novice myself but I'll do what I can. Red is a very fast, combat centric color. A lot of red vamps, like Bloodcrazed Neonate, Erdwal Ripper, or Falkenrath Marauders reward you for hitting your opponent's face. Since red is one half of Rakdos colors, there are also red vamps that encourage you to discard cards, like Furyblade Vampire, the above mentioned Olivia, Mobilized for War, or any of number of them with the "Madness" keyword, which lets play them for a special cost if you would normally discard them.

As for non-vamp cards to toss in, I've already discussed damage amp. Most vamps reward you for either hitting face or killing creatures, and damage amp will make both easier. Another nifty trick in red is extra combat phases with cards like Relentless Assault, Aggravated Assault, or Fury of the Horde.

In R/W we have more combat oriented cards, but usually with a more defensive twist. Things like Glory of Warfare or Boros Charm. Things that help you protec but also attac.

In essence, Red and all its subsidiaries are all about one thing: swing. Swing hard and Swing often.

This all seems like basic info to me and I'm not sure it helps, but it's what I've got for you. I hope you get something out of it.

Would definitely recommend adding more red Vampires to this deck. Since this deck is built around having many vampires and life gain would recommend a few vampires that grow and to throw at your opponent to keep them more worried about defense rather then attacking, and also helping out with the whole mana base thing being a tiny bit difficult to work on. For the Vampires I would recommend going with the cheap vampires to just basically throw them at the opponent as a distration while you are building up your massive Vampire army, For example...Falkenrath Reaver, Bloodcrazed Neonate, Bloodmad Vampire, Bloodsworn Steward, Falkenrath Marauders, Havengul Vampire, Heirs of Stromkirk, Insolent Neonate,Markov Blademaster, Rakish Heir, Stromkirk Noble

Hey, this is great, well put together with a plan, +1.

I recommend replacing Vampire Cutthroat with a more impactful one drop Vamp such as Viscera Seer or Shadow Alley Denizen.

Shambling Vent can replace Scoured Barrens and Battlefield Forge can replace Boros Garrison.

I'm not a fan of Kindred Charge it costs too much mana and is the same amount of mana as Edgar. Consider Cover of Darkness to replace Charge.

More draw is something that's needed here. Mentor of the Meek is great when creating tokens. For one mana you can draw a card each time a token is created this is great with Edgar's eminence, Keeper, Sorin and Procession. Mentor can replace Falkenrath Marauders.

More draw suggestions are Phyrexian Arena, Night's Whisper, Painful Truths and Sign in Blood. Black two mana draw two is very good.

Good luck with your deck.
