Belbe's Portal Discussion

Ravenrose Simply love the flavor of your deck. How is your meta like?
Here're some of my useful and flavorful suggestions:
3) Siren's Call - Adds to the flavor of the deck as the inability to answer a Sphinx's riddles, is as deadly as a Siren's call. Pair them off with Festival or Orim's Chant and you've a single sided boardwipe!
4) Always Watching - Sphinxes are also viewed as Guardians, commonly seen at the entrance of temples, thus "Vigilance" fits this theme perfectly. This synergizes well with Cryptic Gateway as you can attack with your Sphinxes 1st then summon more at end of opponents' turn using the Gateway!
Hope you find these suggestions useful and fun! Let me know what you think. Cheers.

triproberts12 I agree with Reliquary Tower I only added because he was worried about having to discard card from his hand due being unable to play cards. I personally didn't want add it but with the improvements i don't think that will be an issue. I curious as to why Tempt with Discovery even if no one else is tempted you can still search for any land you want more if your opponents do as well. And Belbe's Portal which lets me summon an angel for free are replacements? As for Serra's Sanctum it is most likely not staying I talked to my friend today and he agreed with your earlier statement, and as it's his deck not mine im fine with it if he is

I suppose the best option would be to drop Reliquary Tower . This isn't the kind of deck that's going to draw 5+ cards in a turn, so there's no real reason to run Tower. If Sanctum is staying, then it's best to treat it like Temple of the False God . Not as a 36th land, but as a late-game rock. As I said before, with Exploration and Burgeoning , you want a higher land count, anyway.
I think Hunting Grounds and Sylvan Library are fantastic additions. There's now a 57% chance that Sanctum can act as a 4th land drop on time, and a 77% chance Sanctum is adding more than one mana by turn 8, assuming you see 4 extra cards and no enchantments get removed. I think I would also find room for Carpet of Flowers .

+1 for an interesting take on a traditional Angels tribal deck.
1) Belbe's Portal - Cheats Angels from hand directly into play. Deters your opponents from attacking you too when this is untapped as you can "flash" in a beefy blocker anytime.
2) Sylvan Library + Abundance - Both are awesome cards on their own and have great Synergies when they're both online. Draw 3 cards every turn without paying life, anyone? Perhaps these can replace Dawn of Hope and Loreseeker's Stone .
3) Lifecrafter's Bestiary - When you mesh Scry with Card Draw, you get an awesome card. The extra to draw a card shouldn't be a problem since you're ramping hard with Karametra.
I'll be back with more suggestions!

You have a lot of really expensive stuff (mana wise), so be careful about aggro in your playgroup since it sadly seems you'd be blown clean out of the water. I'm not sure about what your budget is, but Sol Ring is always a nice addition to all EDH decks. Additionally, a basic Counterspell can be less than a dollar depending on the version, and is another blue staple.
I'm not too sure about Arcane Melee . It helps your opponents too, and you do not have that many instants and sorceries to benefit from it, especially since to cast it you would have most of the mana you'd need to cast the rest.
As for creatures, they're just really expensive to cast. Quicksilver Amulet can help with that, but isn't really budget. Maybe a used copy? Light to moderate play cards are typically fine (by my standards) especially on a budget. Belbe's Portal naming whatever you have the most of in your hand could also be good, kinda-budget with a used copy, though it is an older card as well. Hmm.. Clone is also a versatile card to help with CMC issues.
Overall, your deck seems good but slow. Which was your intention, but just be wary of aggro.
Cards to cut (suggestions): Blighted Cataract - really expensive draw, colorless not too useful
Stormtide Leviathan - most of your stuff would no longer be able to attack
Good Luck and take my advice with a grain of salt, I really enjoy combo decks and my playstyle is based on this.

Geridious You're welcomed.
That said, I'd personally opt for a commander with Green among it's color identity (over Esper ) if my objective is to summon big fat meanies and stomp in for the win. Once again, it boils down to preference and play style.
Let me know once you're done building your deck list on T/O, I'd love to see how it turns out. Am hoping that this deck did gave you some inspirations along the way. Cheers!

Kaigz my deck really doesn't rely on my commander, I just use him for the reanimation then I don't really care about him (the pump is game winning though). I am very interested on the other cards, especially the Belbe's Portal . What cards would you recommend cutting
