Bloodcrazed Hoplite

Creature — Human Soldier

Heroic — Whenever you cast a spell that targets Bloodcrazed Hoplite, put a +1/+1 counter on it.

Whenever a +1/+1 counter is placed on Bloodcrazed Hoplite, remove a +1/+1 counter from target creature an opponent controls.

I'd get rid of Ajani's Welcome , Ordeal of Nylea , Ordeal of Thassa , Bloodcrazed Hoplite , and Grateful Apparition .

Ajani's Welcome is extremely slow. It's a okay turn 1 play, but in a 99 singleton card deck, you never consistently get this out turn 1. Gaining 1 life is awesome for triggers, but is extremely slow when you consider you are starting out with 40 life already. I personally feel it's a dud card and will never ever be the card that "put you so far ahead".

Ordeal of Thassa is better off a Brainstorm . Its 1 less mana, instant speed and gains you 1 more card to look at.

Ordeal of Nylea I kinda like, but I personally would just run a Kodama's Reach or Cultivate

Bloodcrazed Hoplite I am not a fan of in this deck. 100% of the time, you are going to wish it was a Sage of Hours and are going to want to put counters onto other creatures. I personally prefer Servant of the Scale as it doubles the amount of counters put from servant to x creature.

Grateful Apparition is straight up better as the OG Atraxa, Praetors' Voice . A 1/1 flying body is quite useless, and I've found it's often a wasted 2 mana and never the card you want to top deck. Atraxa atleast garuntees a proliferate and let's not forget that a 4/4 flying, vigilance, lifelink, death touch for 4 is extremely viable and offers lots of protection. I play the card as often as I can because it's a 'must remove' creature and that's useful for stripping your opponents of answers.

Read the card to quickly. LoL. Have opted to try it out myself.

These might be meta specific but Aven Mindcensor and these next two synergize well together for creature removal Bloodcrazed Hoplite and Retribution of the Ancients provided your opponents use +1/+1 counters.

BahamutPRME on Casual Greek Deck

So I'm trying to make a deck for my friend for his birthday and he likes Greek Mythology, specifically Poseidon, Hades, and Zues in this order. I'm wanting to stay in the Theros block and have 3 deck ideas but I need some advice and criticism because I don't want to make him a weak deck.

Here are what I've made:

The first one is using Heliod because I made this first and forgot there is a god that looks like zues but in MTG Heliod is the "Leader" or Highest ranking or whatever.

The second one is using Keranos and white humans so its 4 colors instead of 3.

The third one is sticking to the block and theme but also sticking to heroic and scry.

I have always been bad about including a safe amount of land in my decks so that is something i really need help with. I also wasn't sure if this was the best way to show the decks or if i should've just copy and pasted each text.

Thank you!

Greek Deck 1

Greek Deck 2

Greek Deck 3

Sorry for the long post. Wasn't sure how to do this.

I don't think Ashiok's Adept is that great. By the time it's online it won't do much in a lot of matchups.

I think Bloodcrazed Hoplite and Gifted Aetherborn are much, much better.

All things I am going to suggest are under $2 cards. If your looking for something in a higher budget let me know.

Add the following Lands. They will trigger Regna, the Redeemer the turn she comes into play.
Blighted Steppe
Scoured Barrens
Seraph Sanctuary
Springjack Pasture
Kabira Crossroads

Cards to get rid of:
Ajani's Pridemate and Child of Night They seem like they would work but they do not do enough
Arena Rector No really good planeswalker to find.
Bloodcrazed Hoplite, Knight of Malice, Oketra's Avenger, Typhoid Rats, Skittering Heartstopper, and Fate Unraveler Don't see how they fit in at all
Danitha Capashen, Paragon No Equipement but a decent creature.
Harvestguard Alseids Not running enough enchantments
Kazarov, Sengir Pureblood Not in your commander colors (has red)

Replace all of these creatures with creatures that do 1 of 4 things:
Produce a creature token
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet from your side board

Gain you life
Pontiff of Blight, Syndic of Tithes, Tithe Drinker, Treasury Thrull, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Sunscorch Regent, Suture Priest are all good examples. In multiplayer EDH extort good.

Create Mana
Burnished Hart. Crypt Ghast He is like $3.50 but he is really good in this deck Draw a card
Bloodgift Demon and Mentor of the Meek are good examples.

You should have all your instants and sorceries do some kind of board wipe or removal. The ones that are a one shot gain life just aren't good.

Your enchantments are good.

Artifacts should be replaced with mana rocks or mana reduction effects like Sol Ring, Commander's Sphere, Oketra's Monument, and Bontu's Monument.

If you're running lots of combat tricks, including a creature with heroic will be very effective. I recommend swapping Thornbow Archer out for Tormented Hero, Agent of the Fates, Ashiok's Adept, or Bloodcrazed Hoplite.

So I, like many of you, am sitting in a place of giddy excitement as I wait for my new Breed Lethality deck to arrive. I knew it was the one I wanted the very moment they were spoiled, and I was Vindicated to see it outselling even the much-touted Bromance (which is also a completely solid choice, along with everything but Yidris).

Anyway, as I sat waiting, I got to looking through my old cards, plucking out anything that looked particularly juicy for the new deck. My landbase is upper-mediocre for sure, and I still need to grab a few pricier staples (i.e. Archangel of Thune and Doubling Season), but I actually found a surprising number of cards which may totally merit a spot in the lauded 99.

Basically, what I'm hoping to get out of this thread is to pick a few other players' brains about how good my card choices are. If you see something that's like a "OMFG holy shit definitely put that in there," let me know and explain why. If you see anything that's like a "Wow, I maybe see what you were thinking, but that will honestly serve you no good at all," then do the same. With no further ado:

LANDS

-

- SORCERIES/INSTANTS

So yeah...if anyone can offer any reasons that any of the above cards would or wouldn't be good choices, I'm all ears. Budget is a concern (I already have all the cards on this list)), but I'm WAAAAY open to hearing better suggestions than the ones I made.

Atraxa is the tits, guys and girls. I haven't been this pumped for a new commander since Kaalia and Animar. Let's put our heads together and perfect this like I know we can.
