Okiba-Gang Shinobi Discussion

RedmundR2 on Rats Off To Ya! (8-Ratcks)

urzaland The deck functions essentially like a standard 8-rack deck with a couple of alternate win conditions. It also can use creature damage to finish out games that the usual 8-rack deck lacks. I would say its a bit slower than the standard builds, but performs better across multiple games than 8-rack normally does. 8-rack is a deck that can be really easy to win game 1, but extremely difficult to win games 2 or 3 in a tournament setting. This deck performs worse in game 1, but better in following games than the standard build.

Would I recommend buying this over a usual build, especially foiling out all the cards as i have done, for competitive play? Probably not. But if you have the cards already, or you really like Rats, its pretty fun and damn good.

Flipping Nezumi Shortfang is one of the most fun things to do with this deck, if you get it off. Also, landing an Okiba-Gang Shinobi's ninjutsu will literally shock your opponents the first time they see it. They will never see that card coming.

Pit Spawn is a Monster.

I use the black ninjas in my Horobi. Ninjutsu is a great way to get Death's Wail off the field when the effect is less beneficial for you. Each of the abilities lend themselves to your overall strategy. Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni Okiba-Gang Shinobi Throat Slitter Skullsnatcher.

Nim Deathmantle is an all-star in a deck like this.

Maybe Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni, Locust Miser, Gnat Miser, Okiba-Gang Shinobi, Skullsnatcher, Throat Slitter. A little more variety and added abilities of the ninjas

There are rats with the ability Ninjutsu that could also deal the final blow if Master of cruelties isn't blocked. Skullsnatcher, Throat Slitter, Okiba-Gang Shinobi, Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni. They could also be used if other your rats are not blocked. Not saying you should do this, just an idea.

I don't have any new suggestions for you, but, I think revising the number of each card in your deck to improve its consistency. Here's my opinion:

-2 Mistblade Shinobi-1 Throat Slitter-3 Ornithopter-1 Jace, Unraveler of Secrets

+1 Spellstutter Sprite+2 Higure, the Still Wind+1 Walker of Secret Ways+1 Ninja of the Deep Hours+1 Skullsnatcher+1 Okiba-Gang Shinobi

Why? Because I think you have enough unblockable critters to get the ninjas out, I think it's better that you have more of a toolbox approach to it, running 4 Higure, and letting him fetch any ninja you needed, and running only 1 each of the other ninjas (except ninja of the deep hours, because that dude is tech).

Funkydiscogod on You played a creature? And.... its gone!

Less Pharika's Cure, more Devour in Shadow. The life loss won't be an issue; you do have lifelink critters.

Also, I vote for ninjas, since you have creatures with pwoerful ETB effects and/or evasion, throwing one or two ninja in there could be randomly good. I'd swap out Indulgent Tormentor for Okiba-Gang Shinobi or Throat Slitter.

Also, since you need black devotion, maybe swap out Doom Blade for Executioner's Capsule or Seal of Doom?
