TheRedGoat: Honestly, Scroll Thief and Smuggler's Copter SEEM bad, but they consistently draw me into my lands and my control pieces. I'm never ever disappointed when I see them in my opener. Inundate isn't a bad idea XD but I'd rather just play Merchant Scroll / Spellseeker to grab Cyclonic Rift for example, in that slot. The other rattlesnakes are... okay? But I'd usually prefer outright control or counters in that slot (I don't like giving my opponents choices when I punish them). I tested Hidden Strings , Last Thoughts , and Hands of Binding , but they all got cut :( Last Thoughts is strictly worse than Scroll Thief in this list, and the other two were too low-impact overall. The issue with Sakashima's Student and Ninja of the Deep Hours is that they're only unblockable ONCE in this list (they have too large of a P/T to be unblockable here). Teferi's Veil and Siren Stormtamer might have a home here, avoiding removal? Honestly unsure, I've definitely considered both. Prying Blade ups my power, which I actively want to avoid XD Verity Circle might make it in here, it's been really REALLY good in The Locust God , though Rhystic Study would get that slot first. Murmuring Mystic could be cute I suppose (paired with Bident of Thassa ? wooooooo that seems hilarious). But Time Stop really isn't my jam in multiplayer: it makes me tap out and be unable to answer anything :( Thanks for the thoughts!

TJFNIJ: Oh, that's cute XD I like that, but it's 10 mana before I get the pump effect (assuming I want to pay echo), so I think I may have to skip it for now.

Still an impressive piece of work I see.

Smuggler's Copter and Scroll Thief seem like they take up slots better served by more utility or control effects.

Next, what are your thoughts on the following (literally just your thoughts not saying you should make cuts for them):

AEtherize and Inundate as board wipes or Dissipation Field or Crawlspace as rattlesnake cards (for multiplayer mind you).

Hidden Strings , Last Thoughts , or Hands of Binding for control/utility purposes.

Sakashima's Student feels like a two mana clone effect in your build. (for that matter, Ninja of the Deep Hours should equally be treated as a two drop).

Teferi's Veil or Siren Stormtamer for creature protection.

Prying Blade as completely unnecessary ramp.

Military Intelligence or Verity Circle as card advantage.

Murmuring Mystic or Psychic Corrosion (note, the enchantment represents any milling here) as win cons.

and last but not least, Time Stop . Because nothing is more oppressive than hearing "beginning of your turn, end the turn."

Hey, thanks a lot for your kind words and your suggestions. They all have been under consideration at some point, but they do their thing just once and that's too small of an effect for me. I like the wither creatures more, bc nobody wants to attack into them and later on, they can shoot around with Viridian Longbow. But I'll reconsider anyway bc I think I'll ditch Last Thoughts, opening up one card slot for new tech.

Hello onehitterquiter, thanks for the view and upvote. This is still very much a build in progress. It currently plays terribly, but is super fun to play, so looking at ways to make it better.

Cephalid Constable is really nice. A great way to control the board state. Might have to slot one it.

Duelist's Heritage of all these suggestions, I think this will be an auto add. Take out one of the more useless equipment pieces. I love that I can not only give my creatures double strike, but in a multi-player game, I can give other creatures as well when I see fit.

Battle Mastery – this is the same cost as Duelist’s and only effects one creature. For that reason, I don’t think its as useful.

True Conviction – at 6 mana (and 3 white) I don’t think I can justify putting this into the deck. The lifegain that I get from this deck ends up being very secondary to the playing cards.

Cradle of Vitality – I REALLY like this card, just for the ability to make Daxos and the Adept bigger.

Sunbond – I don’t like this for the same reason I don’t like Battle Mastery. This is the same mana cost as Cradle, and only gets to sit on one creature.

Zur's Weirding – I love this card, can’t believe I didn’t know it existed. Will have to play this deck a couple more times to see how flush my life is. I do like that it wouldn’t affect the card I get from Augury Adept, however it would affect my Lu Xun, Scholar General, Last Thoughts and Rhystic Study draws. This might not be the perfect deck for it, but am going to have to get one and figure out a place for it.

Thanks for all the suggestions, there are a couple of solid adds in there for sure.

TheChaosVault Thanks! I have played it a few times, and using cipher to untap the lands works super well. Even when you don;t have the big threats it allows you to establish a board state faster than usual, in addition to taking advantage of Epic Confrontation during the second main phase. My only problem with Last Thoughts is that you have to cast it in order to exile it, and since you can only Cipher as a sorcery, Id be waiting until turn four to generate any card advantage. Fierce Empath Is nice but I might go down to 2 in favor of a second Trapjaw Kelpie because of that fact, but most of the time Im able to use the Fierce Empath with no problem.

Have you actually played this deck? (I often build decks that I have never played) If so, I'd love to know how it plays. Cipher is one of the coolest and most underused abilities in Magic. As for suggestions, I would recommend Last Thoughts: in my opinion, in Pauper, if you can find a way to generate card advantage, it's probably good. Also, I'm less than sure if you wan't Fierce Empath considering that you run exactly one target for it, but I could be wrong.
