Hey, good first draft version of Yahenni on a budget. Nice to see Skirsdag High Priest, underrated casual card in multiplayer Commander :)

Do you own the cards in the sideboard? If you do consider adding Grim Haruspex and Shadowspear to the main deck? Some advice for improvements is to expand on effects that make all your opponents sac a creature, more repeatable draw sources for when creatures die and more ramp.

Some cards to consider adding:

My advice for cards to consider cutting are instant/sorcery removal spells and creatures that only kill one creature: Walk the Plank, Drag to the Underworld, Devour in Shadow, Morkrut Banshee, Skinrender, Gatekeeper of Malakir only kill one creature and they're not as good as Ravenous Chupacabra for the effect. You can get better value for Yahenni from more removal that hits all opponents.

Unless your using Altar of Dementia as an infinite combo to mill all your opponent's libraries in one turn then it's subpar as a sac outlet since not taking enough advantage of self-mill and repeatable opponent mill is risky in multiplayer Commander where graveyards are another resource for lots of decks. In my opinion repeatable draw is better here than repeatable self-mill. Skullclamp could replace Dementia as a comparable priced card with a better effect.

Cards to consider cutting:

  • Barren Moor
  • Desert of the Glorified
  • Polluted Mire
  • Mortician Beetle
  • Unearth
  • Walk the Plank
  • Drag to the Underworld
  • Devour in Shadow
  • Defile
  • Morkrut Banshee
  • Skinrender
  • Gatekeeper of Malakir
  • Army of the Damned
  • Altar of Dementia
  • Avatar of Woe
  • Murderous Rider
  • Geralf's Messenger
  • Gutterbones

Good luck with your deck.

You have several sub optimal card choices; Succumb to Temptation rather than Night's Whisper , Murder rather than Dismember , Victim of Night or the already mentioned Fatal Push which is premium removal.

There is a certain appeal to the Morbid keyword for this deck, be it Tragic Slip , Morkrut Banshee or Reaper from the Abyss as a backup plan. Speaking of a backup plan to the combo, maybe; Myr Superion or Lupine Prototype could work. I'd also want a board wipe like Bontu's Last Reckoning , Damnation , Languish or Ritual of Soot to clear away fast aggro or token strategies. Hope this is of help, good luck brewing your deck.

Arvail on New EDH League!

If you look at most EDH decks, the bulk of their cards fall on the 2 to 4 CMC slots. I would try out stuff like Kami of the Waning Moon, Hired Muscle, Farbog Revenant, Crypt Ghast, Baleful Eidolon, Lost Soul, Mindwarper, Morkrut Banshee, Nether Shadow, Pale Rider of Trostad, Searchlight Geist, Keening Banshee, Souldrinker, Skulking Ghost, Thief of Hope, Vampiric Spirit, Wicked Akuba, Death Denied, Horobi's Whisper, Soulless Revival, Three Tragedies, Swallowing Plague.

Everything else is too expensive or pretty terrible.

Besides the last two, I find them all very funny. Thanks for a good laugh!!!

I think that Morkrut Banshee and cards like it are funny (strange funny) in that they’re some random mytical creature with massive breasts. Way to sexualize some fantasy art, Wizards. Completely out of context compared to characters like Liliana of the Veil and Rakish Heir that are supposed to have some sexual vibe.

@BabyK

Fleshbag Marauder seems to me like an interesting alternative to Abyssal Gatekeeper, depending on preference, definitely worth looking into. Tragic Slip could replace Morkrut Banshee, the cheap cost is really nice, but I think I will stick with the Banshee, since she's also a mediocre creature and I like the possibility to sacrifice and resurrect her for her effect.

When it comes to lands, I have to agree with you. Though I haven't seen any such card in play while playing with my group, we have a lot of people with lots of decks and many of us like to play mean decks, so I wouldn't be surprised to one day face such cards.
