Maybeboard

Hello everyone and welcome! This is my Glass Cannon Selvala deck. I say Glass Cannon because I am not looking to play for the mid-long game. We are moving as quick as possible with minimal (but the best) removal and protection spells. This deck can regularly win on Turn 3-5 and I'm always looking to keep this updated with the best cards.

PS- This is my main competitive deck. I would appreciate any comments about new/old cards that could make this deck even better. I also personally don't run things like Carpet of Flowers and Autumn's Veil. I believe that's going to depend on your play group and how much trouble you run into while playing CEDH Selvala. Those cards just feel a bit slow unless I know I'm going into a table of CEDH Blue deck players. I've linked quite a few "Maybeboard" cards so feel free to tune this to your style :P At the end of the day, I'm trying to make this deck quick and powerful. Let me know what you think!!

Welcome to Glass Cannon Selvala! Our goal is to get out Selvala, Heart of the Wilds ASAP. Put things down to help make infinite mana. And then search or draw our way to victory. It's that simple. Let's run through a few things to get a good idea of what this deck can do.
So, you're starting the game and getting ready to roll. What kind of hand are we looking for? Here are a few examples of things we will need for our hand:

1 - One Low CMC Big Creature

Lupine Prototype Phyrexian Dreadnought Phyrexian Soulgorger

2 - One Extra Mana

Mana Crypt Chrome Mox Mox Diamond

3 - One Mana Dork

Elvish Mystic Arbor Elf Llanowar Elves

4 - One Untap Ability

Emerald Charm Vitalize Instill Energy

5 - One Draw / Search Ability

Life's Legacy Genesis Wave Tooth and Nail Rishkar's Expertise

6 - Preferably Two Green Mana Sources.

It really depends on what you get mana rock wise. But two forest or any green mana is very important when starting out to get Selvala out.

Here are a few examples of things that go infinite with the right amount of creature power on board plus lands. I recommend going through the deck and getting a sense of power creature + mana dorks + lands you may need to go infinite. This is just a quick guide. I don't have every combo in this deck explained. Just a quick few!

1 - Selvala, Heart of the Wilds + Sword of the Paruns + Phyrexian Dreadnought

You can tap Selvala, Heart of the Wilds in response to Phyrexian Dreadnought coming out. With Sword of the Paruns equipped, you tap Selvala, add 12 mana, pay 3 to untap with the equipment, and do everything again. Therefor you are netting 8 mana, and have infinite mana produced before Phyrexian Dreadnought has to resolve its ability.

2 - Selvala, Heart of the Wilds + Staff of Domination + 1 Big Power Creature like Hunted Troll

Here we have a simple one. Use one land to tap Selvala, Heart of the Wilds for 8 mana (Hunted Troll power). Use Staff of Domination to pay 3 to untap Selvala, Heart of the Wilds. Use 1 of the 5 leftover mana from the first tap of Selvala to tap herself again, adding 8 mana again. But you will need to use 1 mana to untap Staff of Domination. Meaning you will net 3 mana each time aka go infinite.

3 - Selvala, Heart of the Wilds + Wirewood Symbiote + Temur Sabertooth + 1 Mana Dork like Llanowar Elves + 1 Big Power Creature like Phyrexian Soulgorger

So here is how this works. You tap Selvala which adds 8 for Soulgorgers power. Then you activate Wirewood Symbiote which returns a mana dork like Llanowar Elves and untaps Selvala. Once you've returned the mana dork, you activate Temur Sabertooth to put Wirewood Symbiote back into your hand. You then play Llanowar Elves and Wirewood Symbiote. Doing this allows you to use Wirewood Symbiote since it is what we call a "New Instance" of the card on the field. Meaning you can activate its' "Once a turn" ability again. Repeat this process to (in this case) net you 3 mana a rotation. Which means you now have infinite mana.

Here are a few things you can do with that mana! Again I haven't described every way possible to win with. Just a few quick ways to see what we are doing.

1 - Walking Ballista

First, always use half of your mana on WB. I recommend that you make a X amount of infinite mana each time you get a combo off. Such as say "I make 5000 mana." Because in a competitive scene people always want exact numbers and sometimes they have something up their sleeves. So say you make 5000 mana, use 2500 on WB because who cares a win is a win. And now you have 2500 mana left in case something happens.

2 - Vivien's Grizzly or Duskwatch Recruiter

Go search your deck for whatever creature you want! Aka probably just Walking Ballista or Rhonas the Indomitable or Great Oak Guardian depending on what combo pieces you have out.

3 - Squallmonger + Staff of Domination

Can gain you life while killing your opponents. Don't have Staff out but made infinite mana another way? EVERYONE DIES YAY! LOL
