I really like the Lorwyn/Shadowmore expansions and thought it would be fun to bring out all the colors w/ the legendary scarecrow Reaper King and his ilk to exploit the King's ability. But play-testing exposed the sad fact that there aren't enough scarecrows in LOR/SHM. No problem! We'll invite some of our little changeling friends from Lorwyn/Morningtide to play along too.

I've read up on why Painter's Servant was banned from EDH and am glad it was later returned to "legality." I stand on the side that counts the fun of having it in play as more valuable than protecting our collective feelings from abuse by a handful of powerful combos. The rules folks would do better to leave certain cards alone and instead discourage the onerous combos, no? i.e. Painter's Servant and Grindstone in the same deck. I get and support that the keepers of the EDH format have a social prerogative and should be vigilant against plays that go beyond the pale, but I'd rather they didn't feel like they had to publish a banned list. That makes sense for formats that have associated WoC tournaments. I think the committee would better serve their community by leading the discussion on rule zero and why certain cards/combos elevate deck power into the cEDH strata. A Painter's Servant/Grindstone combo alone without support of a bunch of tutors isn't going to go off very often. You approach a table, state your deck is a 6-7 and it has this combo, but no tutors. If that's cool you sit down. Actually, for those that love the game and are just having fun, it would be a laugh to see it happen every once in a while.
