Rushing River

Instant

Kicker—Sacrifice a land. (You may sacrifice a land in addition to any other costs as you cast this spell.)

Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. If Rushing River was kicked, return another target nonland permanent to its owner's hand.

ShreddedByCrows on Surrakar tribal challenge

Cool concept, even if it's pretty hard to match. A bit of an easy take on your theme, but why don't you play some Shapeshifters as a way to have more Surrakar? Tribal cards also could help.

As Surrakars' living places are mostly wild forests and underground rivers, there's a lot to do with that without having to back up only on the Zendikar's expansions.

1.) River cards:

  • River of Tears not the best land you could find, but fits in there

  • Underground River certainly an essential

  • Bad River cheap fetchland fitting the theme

  • Rushing River great removal, really underplayed, fits the theme / you can try something revolving around self land destruction if you decide to give it a try (Crop Rotation, Crucible of Worlds, Wasteland, etc.)

  • River Kelpie interesting creature, which design feels otherworldly and weird, according to the Surrakars /n needs a graveyard gameplan to be effective, and that will seem fine (obvious synergy is [card:Cauldron of Souls] and it's a playable card in there) / pretty good interactions with Yarok / card draw

  • Carpet of Flowers staple in lots of decks for mana production, depends on your playgroup though

  • Dire Undercurrents excellent synergies with Yarok, enabling your creatures without etb-abilities to be more effective / card draw, card advantage

  • Undermine weird counterspell, not really that good, not bad either / illustration matches with the theme

2.) Cave cards:

3.) Cloning your Surrakars cards:

  • Mirror of the Forebears not the most flavourful one, but gives you a cheap way to get more Surrakars so it deserves being at least mentioned

  • Fated Infatuation same comment as for the Mirror, with the advantage of the more abstract card name / waterpoint in the illustration

  • Mimic Vat classic card, not the most flavourful

  • Wall of Stolen Identity more of a Ravnica-themed card, but worth mentioning

  • Phantasmal Image if you can alter a bit the card's image, it could be some Surrakar there / otherwise, it's a good card, and the illustration is strange enough to not injure your theme-deck-style imo

  • Metamorphic Alteration also a nice one

  • Mirror Image not as good as the others, still a wildish illustration style according well with Surrakars

  • Unstable Shapeshifter funny card, a quality+ illustration

  • Bramble Sovereign Surrakars also living in the Guum Wilds/Tangled Vale, this one feels really good / has some interactions with Yarok

  • Rite of Replication Zendikar-themed, water-themed, excellent card, good interactions with Yarok

  • Supplant Form let's just assume for a while that this is Surrakar's magic lel

  • Dual Nature yeh it is slow, but it is strong / interactions with Yarok

4.) Tribal outlet:

5.) Yarok outlet

6.) Other cards

I hope you'll find something helpful amongst those suggestions, keep on brewing and thanks for sharing it!

Thanks very much, friend :]

I believe in most cases, yes, the tempo you can gain from Unsubstantiate and Vapor Snag is 100% totally worth it; you might be right about Rushing River , I have had some success with it but it is a little expensive and might be better off as a cheaper spell or a bounce + cantrip spell (though I think I'm playing most of the viable ones)

I really love the idea of Long-Term Plans as a pseudo-finisher; my only inhibition is that you lose a card from hand when you cast it, so you are not as incentivized to use it while Kefnet is in play... but it can immediately refill your hand (with Gush etc.) if you can get there, so I think I'd like to experiment with that

Thank you!

Hey my friend, really sweet deck. I knew that some Kefnet's lists exist in duel commander but I haven't seen one until today :)

Is tempo spells that create card disadvantage such Unsubstantiate , Rushing River (i don't get this one at all) or Vapor Snag still mandatory ? In addition of Merchant Scroll maybe Long-Term Plans could be sweet to grab answers or finisher such as Sunder (without reavealing them)

Have a nice day

Why even call it Cedh when it's just an edh deck with sub-optimal card choices.

What is the reason for running Forbidden Orchard in a two-color deck (you're not going to tell me it's necessary for color fixing when you're on two colors...)

Daze -> Dispel is way better in this case as you're looking for the best slot card to use in CEDH and not sub-optimal cards...

Gush -> Delve draw cards or the pull from something is way better than this... even though it's funny you can and others can't it is not a card to run outside of doomsday piles... or monoblue 1v1 decks...

Illumination ? why hamstring yourself with super specific counters?

Pact of Negation Not a fan of the card outside of fast combo decks...

Rushing River what in the?

AEther Barrier Doesn't really do anything.

Blind Obedience What are those! doesn't do anything for you!

Frozen Aether What are those! doesn't do anything for you!

Kismet What are those! doesn't do anything for you!

Mana Maze so you also block yourself?

Orb of Dreams cool! and?

Static Orb no benefit, no way to make it asymmetrical, no reason to run it!

Ward of Bones jank stuff!

Winter Orb no benefit, no way to make it asymmetrical, no reason to run it!

Thalia, Heretic Cathar Again the absolute mad lad with the anti-aggro cards for CEDH deck...

There must be far better options that all of these cards like Ravages of War , Delay ETC ETC ETC...

Honestly I think that Biomantic Mastery, Lashwrite, Perpetual Timepiece, and Sudden Reclamation shouldn't make the cut.

These are some cards that I didn't notice on the list that seem like they could be good for this list. I bolded cards that I think are particularly on point for a list like this.

Dreamscape Artist
Patron of the Moon
Drown in Filth
Excavation Pedantic Learning
Restore

Sprout Swarm
Summer Bloom
Harvest Season
Rushing River

Sprouting Vines
Distant Melody
Seek the Horizon
Creeping Renaissance
Perilous Forays
Worm Harvest
Boundless Realms

Heya Lilbrudder, I've been playing something based on this list. Been really good for me, actually (6-0 in competitive prize matches, although I've lost other matches).

Two things. 1) Did you consider Rushing River for the Into the Roil spot?

2) how do you feel about Dark Confidant or his little brother Night's Whisper?

greyninja on What are the best bounce …

i ran a bunch in my Sen Triplets edh deck. Boomerang, Snap, Unsummon, Vapor Snag, Voyage's End, Crystal Shard, Whelming Wave, Cyclonic Rift, Vacuumelt, Disperse, Dramatic Rescue, Eye of Nowhere, Into the Roil, Remand, Rushing River, Void Snare, Wipe Away, etc.

obviously it's overkill, but with Sen Triplets you can play spells from opponent's hands so i wanted their stuff to be bounced constantly. bounce something on their turn, then play it on mine! honestly the coolest was Snap with Isochron Scepter
