I love the premise of this deck. Well done! The switch to Tiamat also makes a lot of sense. You asked me to have a look, so here goes :D. Here are some things that I noticed when going over your list:

  • You land count is on the low side I think. A good guideline for edh decks, both casual and cEDH, is to have about 50 pieces that generate mana. So even though you run 13 ramp pieces, I think your overall mana package is a bit on the low side. I’d try to up the landcount to ±37
  • The second thing that struck out was the low amount of carddraw (less than 10). I can imagine that in a deck like this you can use a higher-than-average amount of card velocity (so either cardraw or cardselection) to dig through your deck at a consistent pace and get some of those sweet combinations in play more regularly. I’d try to be critical on which of those theme cards are best and run a lot more carddraw instead of running the lesser theme cards. I expect that with 12+ cardraw pieces it would perform a lot smoother.
  • Another thing you could consider is changing up your ramp package. You have a mix of different ramp strategies now, which works. However, you could also decide to pick only those styles that have the most synergy with your deck’s theme. For example, you could go tribal ramp (like elfball with cards like Priest of Titania) or go for some untappers like Kiora's Follower, possibly combined with bounce lands and such, that also help you use cards like Imagecrafter more often.

You’re on to something sweet here! Congratz on creating something truly novel. Hope my tips include some that are useful for you :). Good luck with the changes and see you later!

Nobody said Shields of Velis Vel yet. Somebody should say that one.

Too bad you don't have access to blue: Amoeboid Changeling, Wings of Velis Vel, Imagecrafter...

WooferMcGee on You sure that's not a sliver?

Both Xenograft and Urza's Incubator are already in the maybe board. Xenograft I didn't feel I needed after some testing , although I can easily rplace Trickery Charm or Imagecrafter for it. And Urza's Incubator I don't have and is kind of expensive, so it's not currently in the deck.

OK, that's cool. So yes Sliver Hivelord is 100% legal. Very helpful card.

Now, for the steal effects, you use things like Amoeboid Changeling , Artificial Evolution , Unnatural Selection , Imagecrafter etc. You will also want lots of mana generation. You will also need to be careful with some slivers, especially Crystalline Sliver , as this will make it impossible to steal your opponents stuff

Searching for a card via the general search is broken. Search via card search instead. When in doubt, just link the card to see it Imagecrafter .

ShreddedByCrows on Surrakar tribal challenge

Cool concept, even if it's pretty hard to match. A bit of an easy take on your theme, but why don't you play some Shapeshifters as a way to have more Surrakar? Tribal cards also could help.

As Surrakars' living places are mostly wild forests and underground rivers, there's a lot to do with that without having to back up only on the Zendikar's expansions.

1.) River cards:

  • River of Tears not the best land you could find, but fits in there

  • Underground River certainly an essential

  • Bad River cheap fetchland fitting the theme

  • Rushing River great removal, really underplayed, fits the theme / you can try something revolving around self land destruction if you decide to give it a try (Crop Rotation, Crucible of Worlds, Wasteland, etc.)

  • River Kelpie interesting creature, which design feels otherworldly and weird, according to the Surrakars /n needs a graveyard gameplan to be effective, and that will seem fine (obvious synergy is [card:Cauldron of Souls] and it's a playable card in there) / pretty good interactions with Yarok / card draw

  • Carpet of Flowers staple in lots of decks for mana production, depends on your playgroup though

  • Dire Undercurrents excellent synergies with Yarok, enabling your creatures without etb-abilities to be more effective / card draw, card advantage

  • Undermine weird counterspell, not really that good, not bad either / illustration matches with the theme

2.) Cave cards:

3.) Cloning your Surrakars cards:

  • Mirror of the Forebears not the most flavourful one, but gives you a cheap way to get more Surrakars so it deserves being at least mentioned

  • Fated Infatuation same comment as for the Mirror, with the advantage of the more abstract card name / waterpoint in the illustration

  • Mimic Vat classic card, not the most flavourful

  • Wall of Stolen Identity more of a Ravnica-themed card, but worth mentioning

  • Phantasmal Image if you can alter a bit the card's image, it could be some Surrakar there / otherwise, it's a good card, and the illustration is strange enough to not injure your theme-deck-style imo

  • Metamorphic Alteration also a nice one

  • Mirror Image not as good as the others, still a wildish illustration style according well with Surrakars

  • Unstable Shapeshifter funny card, a quality+ illustration

  • Bramble Sovereign Surrakars also living in the Guum Wilds/Tangled Vale, this one feels really good / has some interactions with Yarok

  • Rite of Replication Zendikar-themed, water-themed, excellent card, good interactions with Yarok

  • Supplant Form let's just assume for a while that this is Surrakar's magic lel

  • Dual Nature yeh it is slow, but it is strong / interactions with Yarok

4.) Tribal outlet:

5.) Yarok outlet

6.) Other cards

I hope you'll find something helpful amongst those suggestions, keep on brewing and thanks for sharing it!

Caerwyn on 1 mana hate creatures

There's a couple of 1 CMC creatures you can sacrifice for assorted effect, though most of them tend to be pretty limited to specific situations (to find these, you can run a gatherer search with "sacrifice" "creature" "CMC = 1").

I went through the entire list of 1 CMC creatures, and there really are not many great options. Here's a list of I came up with of creatures that (a) don't require a sacrifice to use, and (b) might be considered hatebears (though some are so niche that they bearly made the cut).

YES. So cool. The only thing I wonder is that Imagecrafter is missing. Is there a specific reason (other than you can't tutor him)?
