Trickery Charm

Instant

Choose one - Target creature gains flying until end of turn; or target creature becomes the creature type of your choice until end of turn; or look at the top four cards of your library, then put them back in any order.

Both Xenograft and Urza's Incubator are already in the maybe board. Xenograft I didn't feel I needed after some testing , although I can easily rplace Trickery Charm or Imagecrafter for it. And Urza's Incubator I don't have and is kind of expensive, so it's not currently in the deck.

The deck is looking pretty good. I like the creature base you have chosen, there are a couple questionable creatures though. Cloudreader Sphinx seems kind of bad in this deck. If you just want a flying scryer, perhaps Sphinx of Foresight, Prognostic Sphinx, Stormwing Entity, or Siani, Eye of the Storm.

Passwall Adept is just not good enough. its too much of a resource drain. Opt is not helpful in this deck since you immediately draw the card after scrying. Cunning Evasion wont do much good I am thinking since most of your creatures wont be blocked anyway.

In my opinion, you need a few less low CMC cards and a few more high CMC that you can use to get Yuriko damage in. For cuts, I would start by looking at any creatures that cost CMC 2/3 that dont provide value other than being unblockable (Invisible Stalker, Vault Skirge (love that card btw). I would then look at replacing sorceries with instants where possible. Darksteel Pendant and Crystal Ball are not good enough in my opinion and are too much of a resource investment unless there is some sort of artifact strategy I am missing. Dimir Keyrune provides interesting utility but is inefficient. Consider Arcane Signet instead or perhaps even Dark Ritual. Thran Dynamo is fairly efficient for cost to mana provided but it seems most of your mana needs are for color. Key to the City is for yuriko after she is out I assume.. I would probably run Aqueous Form instead because it has a scry effect on attack which is pretty desirable.

Here are some cards to consider in not much particular order:

Zhalfirin Void

Moonring Island

Chromatic Orrery (high cmc and provides a lot of mana)

Mission Briefing (can add card to graveyard for delve and recast Brainstorm which is arguably one of the best cards in the deck)

Condescend

Chain of Vapor (way to return a card to hand as well as an opponents card or cards)

Archaeomancer (can get brainstorm back and can be returned to hand with ninjitsu potentially)

Harsh Scrutiny

Shrieking Drake

Archetype of Imagination

Flood of Tears (this is a pet card of mine. You can return a bunch of cheap creatures and then put out something big like a Chromatic Orrery)

Lim-Dul's Vault

Scroll Rack (spendy but so good)

Soothsaying

Spire Owl

Diabolic Vision

Index

Spy Network

Trickery Charm (does multiple things you want)

Beseech the Queen

The Magic Mirror

The Cauldron of Eternity

Deep-Sea Kraken

Avatar of Woe

Void Beckoner

Dead Drop

Tombstalker

Curse of the Cabal

Connive / Concoct

Grozoth (requires you to build around it to be worthwhile but can be good)

Scion of Darkness

Treasure Cruise

Baral's Expertise

You do not have enough evasive creatures nor do you have enough ways to make it difficult to block onboard ninjas. I've been fiddling with a Yuriko deck since her release so I'll point you to some true gems in the evasion category.

Cover of Darkness: Not only thematic but very effective at making it difficult to block ninjas.

Key to the City: Make target creature unblockable for 0 mana. Yuriko decks draw like mad so discarding a card won't hurt as usually we have to discard to hand size at end of turn anyway. More fuel for delve too.

Smoke Shroud: 0 mana evasion that's recurable for a ninja. Pitch it from overdraw but honestly 2 mana is still cheap if you have to cast it.

Bitterblossom: Expensive to purchase ($30...) but an unlimited source of 1/1 flyers come in handy for chump blocking and sneaky ninjas into play. Faeries also play a lot of tricks and are sneaky so they kind of fit into the deck seamlessly.

Trickery Charm: This card was MADE for Yuriko. Every mode is good at a different point in the game.

Wonder: Have you ever seen the Kung Fu movie Hero? There's a scene where two guys are fighting while dancing on water and it's super cheesy but I love it. Pitching Wonder to overdraw is not hard and you get to make all the flying ninja sounds you want when you attack now!

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive: Lots of ninja's and evasive creatures have power or toughness 1 including Yuriko. Even using him as your unblockable to shuttle in ninja's isn't so bad at 2 mana.

Wingcrafter: More flying ninjas, what's not to love!? It's cheap and can give another ninja evasion so it's a strong card in my opinion. It's decent on T1 without flying even because you only need one opponent open to swing at and it's doubtful each opponent will drop a creature.

Faerie Seer: Reusable Scry 2 on a flyer that sets up Yuriko triggers beautifully.

Mothdust Changeling: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Well its a ninja. Keep away from bright lights.

Siren Stormtamer: Cheap flyer that protects your stuff later in the game.

Baleful Strix: A very annoying card for our opponents to play around unless they have flying tokens.

Thalakos Seer: Might as well read unblockable.

Cloud of Faeries: Essentially a 0 mana 1/1 flyer. Ninjitsu is a mana hog so deploying our evasive creatures for free is extremely valuable.

Spellstutter Sprite: Plenty of 1 CmC spells are played in EDH like Swords to Plowshares, Chain of Vapor, Sol Ring, Nature's Claim, etc. With more faeries out it can start hitting bigger spells but sometimes its just nice to flash in a flyer at EoT to get psuedo haste.

Nether Traitor: Probably the best creature printed with Shadow. Haste and it's recursion ability make it invaluable. Not a bad card to pitch to overdraw either and just sit with a up waiting for the inevitable board wipe.

ShreddedByCrows on Surrakar tribal challenge

Cool concept, even if it's pretty hard to match. A bit of an easy take on your theme, but why don't you play some Shapeshifters as a way to have more Surrakar? Tribal cards also could help.

As Surrakars' living places are mostly wild forests and underground rivers, there's a lot to do with that without having to back up only on the Zendikar's expansions.

1.) River cards:

  • River of Tears not the best land you could find, but fits in there

  • Underground River certainly an essential

  • Bad River cheap fetchland fitting the theme

  • Rushing River great removal, really underplayed, fits the theme / you can try something revolving around self land destruction if you decide to give it a try (Crop Rotation, Crucible of Worlds, Wasteland, etc.)

  • River Kelpie interesting creature, which design feels otherworldly and weird, according to the Surrakars /n needs a graveyard gameplan to be effective, and that will seem fine (obvious synergy is [card:Cauldron of Souls] and it's a playable card in there) / pretty good interactions with Yarok / card draw

  • Carpet of Flowers staple in lots of decks for mana production, depends on your playgroup though

  • Dire Undercurrents excellent synergies with Yarok, enabling your creatures without etb-abilities to be more effective / card draw, card advantage

  • Undermine weird counterspell, not really that good, not bad either / illustration matches with the theme

2.) Cave cards:

3.) Cloning your Surrakars cards:

  • Mirror of the Forebears not the most flavourful one, but gives you a cheap way to get more Surrakars so it deserves being at least mentioned

  • Fated Infatuation same comment as for the Mirror, with the advantage of the more abstract card name / waterpoint in the illustration

  • Mimic Vat classic card, not the most flavourful

  • Wall of Stolen Identity more of a Ravnica-themed card, but worth mentioning

  • Phantasmal Image if you can alter a bit the card's image, it could be some Surrakar there / otherwise, it's a good card, and the illustration is strange enough to not injure your theme-deck-style imo

  • Metamorphic Alteration also a nice one

  • Mirror Image not as good as the others, still a wildish illustration style according well with Surrakars

  • Unstable Shapeshifter funny card, a quality+ illustration

  • Bramble Sovereign Surrakars also living in the Guum Wilds/Tangled Vale, this one feels really good / has some interactions with Yarok

  • Rite of Replication Zendikar-themed, water-themed, excellent card, good interactions with Yarok

  • Supplant Form let's just assume for a while that this is Surrakar's magic lel

  • Dual Nature yeh it is slow, but it is strong / interactions with Yarok

4.) Tribal outlet:

5.) Yarok outlet

6.) Other cards

I hope you'll find something helpful amongst those suggestions, keep on brewing and thanks for sharing it!

I don't think Lazav, Thopter Spy Network, or Telepathy are doing much for you in this list.

Might I suggest some odds and ends if you haven't tried them already - Abjure (if youre going to bounce yuriko anyway, might as well sac her for value), Unnatural Selection , Discovery / Dispersal , Trickery Charm , Whispersilk Cloak , Thalakos Seer , Wingcrafter (does serious work in this deck)

Bloodwater Entity is extremely useful here. Its on legs so you can flicker it or copy it. Other topdeck manipulation creatures Omenspeaker Sage Owl Spire Owl Sage of Epityr Augury Owl

Cards that can abuse topdeck being known Psychic Battle Chaos Warp Spark of Creativity Erratic Explosion Prophetic Flamespeaker Abbot of Keral Keep Augur of Bolas Dark-Dweller Oracle Experimental Frenzy

Cards that let you see topdeck Lantern of Insight Goblin Spy Future Sight Magus of the Future

Cathartic Adept and similar mill effects can help you move past undesirable topdeck cards. Gives control when you can see enemy topdecks Pyxis of Pandemonium Ghoulcaller's Bell Drowner Initiate Hedron Crab Jace's Erasure Drowned Secrets Codex Shredder

If you're looking for hard and fast deck stacking, check out Brainstorm Ponder Preordain Serum Visions Index Mystic Speculation Opt Portent Spy Network Trickery Charm Ancestral Knowledge Contingency Plan Foreshadow Information Dealer Omen Predict Bamboozle Long-Term Plans Second Sight

If you're looking for combo potential, Memory Lapse is pretty filthy with putting your spell from hand to top of library, and it raises your storm QUITE A BIT. Hinder can do similar tricks.

Heyo

R/U always has issues with enchantments, thats just a handicap that those colors have, and you dont have much in the way of answers honestly. Aside from Chaos Warp, you are basically relying on blues ability to counterspell/bounce for these things. Yes its rough, but hey, you wanted a challenge, right? ;)

There are ways to dissuade people from attacking you, although if you are wanting to stick to inst/sorc, its pretty limited. Illusionist's Gambit, Disrupt Decorum, and weird stuffs like that can offer temporary protection while being instants. Otherwise, you are looking at adding more artifacts and enchantments that will protect and dissuade attacks. Collective Restraint is a shitty propaganda here, Meekstone can slow things down but doesnt solve token threats well, and Dissipation Field taxes pretty good but can allow your opponents to re-use ETB creatures n stuff. Bonfire of the Damned could be added to your burn list, since it shouldnt be hard to get it on the top of your deck when you need it. Volcanic Vision is also a good add.

Metallurgic Summonings, Goblinslide, and the pyromancer are decent chump blocker engines. Summonings is an alt wincon even :D

As far as ramping goes, there is a lot of static ramp effects for inst/sorc. You have quite a few in your SB already, and Id suggest adding a few if you are intending on doing a lot of spellcasting each turn. I would not suggest arcane melee however, its symmetrical effect can be rough I have found.

If you are wanting to keep all of that artifact ramp in there though, I would suggest switching some around for draw effects, such as Commander's Sphere, Mind Stone, ect, as they can be very useful drawing past non-inst/sorc when needed.

Its hard to get any decent lifegain in these colors and without much in the way of creatures. I mean, Basilisk Collar is probably your best bet...? haha

More copies are are good, and Cast Through Time and Swarm Intelligence do it for free.

Random secret tech, Bosium Strip.

Final advice, run more topdeck manipulation. If you want to be all tricksy, run a bunch of the instant ones to make some super convoluted stacks with Melek out. It can get pretty nutso.

Impulse, Spy Network, Trickery Charm, and Telling Time are probably the go-to cards for that. Otherwise theres a bunch of sorcery ones, must haves being Ponder, Preordain, and the MVP Mystic Speculation. Portent and Index also pull their weight here. But if you want to be more proactive with your topdeck manipulation, theres stuff like Discombobulate, Condescend, and Fated Conflagration.
