This deck is the evolution of my old Windgrace, Roar of the Land *Retired* deck. At the time, I had been excited to build a 'Lands Matter' deck, and it was one of my favorites for a long time. However, it eventually stopped being fun to pilot, and the focus of the deck went wide (Landfall Tokens vs. Landfall Burn vs. Infinite Mana, etc.). I eventually shelved it and then disassembled it. My Jund deck position has been vacant for a while, until Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil was previewed.

Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil

Where Lord Windgracefoil was a source of card draw and could loop lands, he didn't have any real payoff. This interplanetary ship provides card draw and a win-con all-in-one! The goal of the deck is to fully station Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil, then loop land sacrifices to burn out our opponents or overwhelm them with value.

Additional Land Drops

As this is a lands deck, it is important to have as many lands as possible, so we run a suite of cards to help us get additional land drops each turn.

Land Sacrifice Sources

Since our Command Ship's main burn ability is when we sacrifice lands, we need multiple ways to trigger Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil.

  • Braids, Arisen Nightmarefoil - Since we should be playing a ton of lands, sacrificing one land a turn isn't too big of an investment for us. And it will either put our opponents behind on mana, or we can draw a bunch of cards.

  • Evendo Brushrazer - This creature gives us mana ramp, land sacrifice, and card advantage. A fantastic creature overall, especially once we've got an engine set up and just need fuel to go off.

  • Korvold, Fae-Cursed Kingfoil - One of the most Jund cards there is. This dragon monarch can go nuts with a sacrifice loop, drawing us tons of cards and becoming a huge threat. As such, he is a removal magnet, likely not lasting more than a few loops around the table.

  • Rain of Filth - A one-time Squandered Resources, we can sacrifice our lands for mana. With a fully stationed Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil, this could wipe the entire table at instant speed if we have enough lands.

  • Squandered Resources - One of the best and most powerful cards for this deck. For , we can sacrifice a land to generate a mana that the land could have produced. These lands can also be tapped, so if we have a way to bring back all our lands, we can tap all our lands for mana, then sacrifice them for even more mana, then bring them back. And if we have an untapper like Amulet of Vigorfoil, we can tap them again, tripling the amount of mana we could normally make.

  • Sylvan Safekeeperfoil - A land sacrifice outlet and a premium protection piece, all for the low cost of a single mana. Fantastic.

  • Zuran Orbfoil - A zero mana land sacrifice outlet? Perfect! Pair with Korvold, Fae-Cursed Kingfoil or The Gitrog Monster *f-pre* to easily refill our hand.

Land Resetters and Crucible Effects

Since the main focus of this deck is to sacrifice our lands for value, we need to have ways to get those lands back on the field so that we can re-use them over and over.

  • Archdruid's Charmfoil - An excellent modal spell, especially for a green-heavy deck like this. We get several options: Search our library for any creature or land card. If we choose the land, we can put it on to the battlefield tapped. If we don't need a tutor, we can instead exile target artifact or enchantment.

  • Crop Rotationfoil - At instant speed, we can sacrifice a land and search our library for any land and put it onto the battlefield.

  • Entish Restorationfoil - Since this deck is heavily skewed toward Green, this can help us find a Swampfoil or Mountainfoil early on to make sure we get access to all colors and potentially cast our command ship ahead of the curve. Later on, this can synergize with Rootpath Purifierfoil to get any two lands out of our library. And if we have a creature with power 4 or greater, we can instead get three basic lands. These do come into play tapped.

  • Demonic Tutorfoil - The best black tutor. For two mana, we go get any card we want out of our library and put it into our hand.

  • Harrowfoil - Since this deck is heavily skewed toward Green, this can help us find a Swampfoil or Mountainfoil early on to make sure we get access to all colors and potentially cast our command ship ahead of the curve. Later on, this can synergize with Rootpath Purifierfoil to get any two lands out of our library. And they come into play untapped, which is even better!

  • Nylea's Interventionfoil - Another useful modal spell, this will primarily be used to refill our land with lands. If we end up having a surplus of mana, we can overfill our hand with lands, then dump some into the graveyard. We could then follow up with one of our Land Resetters or Crucible effects to get them straight onto the battlefield.

  • Realms Unchartedfoil - For three mana, we get any four lands we want, then have an opponent choose two of them to go to our hand, and the other two get put in the graveyard. This would hardly be a setback, as we often want some lands in the graveyard anyways.

  • Scapeshiftfoil - Land tutor and potential win-con.

  • Sowing Mycospawnfoil - When we cast this creature, we can tutor for any land and put it directly onto the battlefield. If we pay the Kicker cost, we can also exile one of our opponent's troublesome lands.

  • Urza's Cavefoil - A repeatable land tutor. We can sacrifice this, get a land, then replay this card from the graveyard with our suite of Land Resetters and Crucible effects.

  • Archdruid's Charmfoil - While we are more likely to use this as a tutor, we can use it to exile target artifact or enchantment.

  • Assassin's Trophyfoil - For just two mana, we can deal with any annoying permanent our opponents control and replace it with a basic land.

  • Beast Withinfoil - For just three mana, we can deal with any annoying permanent our opponents control and replace it with a 3/3 Beast creature token.

  • Boseiju, Who Enduresfoil - We can Channel this card to destroy an artifact, enchantment, or non-basic land and replace it with a basic land. Combine this with Golgari Rot Farmfoil, and we can return this land to our hand if needed.

  • Braids, Arisen Nightmarefoil - Not directly removal, but if we sacrifice an artifact, enchantment, creatures, land, or planeswalker (which in this deck will be almost always a land), each opponent must either sacrifice a permanent of the same kind, or take two damage and we draw a card.

  • Culling Ritualfoil - For four mana, we can destroy all non-land permanents with a mana value of 2 and under, then add or for each permanent destroyed this way. While this can wreck our opponents and remove all their mana rocks/dorks, it does hit several of our MVPs, including Amulet of Vigorfoil, Squandered Resources, Sylvan Safekeeperfoil, and Zuran Orbfoil.

  • Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil - Once our command ship has been fully stationed, each land sacrificed pings our opponents for two damage.

  • Tannuk, Memorial Ensignfoil - On landfall, this creature deals one damage to each opponent.

  • Tear Asunderfoil - Similar to Archdruid's Charmfoil, we can exile target artifact or enchantment. If we kick it, it becomes exile target nonland permanent.

  • Toxic Delugefoil - One of the best removal spells. This can hit a lot of creatures, and gets around indestructible and hexproof/shroud effects.

  • Valakut Explorationfoil - On landfall, we exile the top card of our library, and can play it for as long as it's exiled. Then, at the beginning of our end step, we put all cards exiled with Valakut Explorationfoil, and deal damage equal to the number of cards put there that way.

  • Valakut, the Molten Pinnaclefoil - Once we have at least five mountains (or five lands with Dryad of the Ilysian Grovefoil in play), on each Mountain-fall/landfall, this land deals three damage to any target.

  • Amulet of Vigor - Whenever a permanent enters tapped, we untap it. We have several lands that enter the battlefield tapped, this this helps us keep up with our opponents.

  • Ancient Greenwardenfoil - The elemental doubles our landfall triggers and acts as an additional Crucible of Worldsfoil. Plus, as an Elemental, he can be pseudo-tutored for with Nissa, Resurgent Animistfoil's Landfall ability.

  • Deflecting Swatfoil - A great way to protect our command ship. And we can use this even before fully Stationing Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil, just to make it even harder to remove.

  • Exploration Broodship - A great play no matter when we cast it. Early on it's an extra Explorationfoil, and late game, once it has been fully stationed, we can sacrifice lands to recast permanent cards from our graveyard. Need to grab Squandered Resources or Titania, Voice of Gaeafoil  ?

  • Horizon Explorer - Makes our lands enter untapped, and makes us a Lander token whenever we attack an opponent. We don't run a ton of basic lands, but this deck (and really all decks) like having more lands than not.

  • Life from the Loamfoil - It wouldn't be a lands deck without Life from the Loamfoil. Or a graveyard deck for that matter. Being able to both return lands to our hand from the graveyard, such as Boseiju, Who Enduresfoil or Takenuma, Abandoned Mirefoil, and fill up our graveyard with Dredge (a very fair mechanic haha).

  • Lotus Cobrafoil - A powerful way to ramp, especially with our fetch lands and multiple land drops.

  • Omnath, Locus of Rage *f-pp* - While this deck is focused on sacrificing lands, having this landfall all-star gives passive value to all the other lands we are playing. And all the 5/5 tokens we create can help us crew our Command ship if necessary. Plus, it can be psuedo-tutored for with Nissa, Resurgent Animistfoil's second landfall ability.

  • Scute Swarmfoil - While this deck is focused on sacrificing lands, having this landfall all-star gives passive value to all the other lands we are playing. And all the 1/1 tokens we create can help us crew our Command ship if necessary.

  • Sixfoil - Another good piece of recursion and self-mill source. Gives all our nonland permanent Retrace during our turn, which allows us to discard a land in addition to paying its mana cost. Not quite as powerful as a fully stationed Exploration Broodship, since we mainly have lands go back to the battlefield rather than our hand, but we should be drawing enough cards to have a few lands available to pitch to the graveyard to bring something back.

  • Spelunkingfoil - Makes our lands enter untapped, and can also draw a card and replace itself in our hand. We do run a few Cave lands, so we can occasionally trigger the life gain.

  • Tireless Provisionerfoil - On Landfall, we can make either a Treasure or Food token. Guaranteed to be useful no matter what kind of matchup we have.

  • Titania, Protector of Argothfoil - When she enters, we return any land from the graveyard to the battlefield, and whenever we sacrifice a land, she makes massive 5/3 Elementals to beat down our opponents.

  • Titania, Voice of Gaeafoil   - A nice way to gain some incidental life while sacrificing our lands. She's one half of Titania, Gaea Incarnatefoil    , a monstrous beater that can animate our lands and provide a massive army to attack our opponents.

  • Wrenn and Sevenfoil - This planeswalker does so much for us. She can refill our hand with lands, put as many lands as we want from our hand onto the battlefield, create powerful Treefolk tokens, and if we manage to ultimate her, returns all permanents from our graveyard back to our hand and gives us an unlimited hand size for the rest of the game!

  • Argoth, Sanctum of Naturefoil   - Taps for , we can tap and this land to create a 2/2 Bear creature token and mill three cards. It is also the other half of Titania, Gaea Incarnatefoil    , a monstrous beater that can animate our lands and provide a massive army to attack our opponents.

  • Boseiju, Who Enduresfoil - One of the best lands in Magic, we can Channel this land to destroy target artifact, enchantment, or nonbasic land an opponent controls. Because it isn't a spell, it can't easily be countered, so if we need to destroy something, it's more than likely going to the graveyard.

  • Echoing Deepsfoil - Copies any land from any graveyard. Great if we've accidentally milled away Shifting Woodlandfoil or Glacial Chasmfoil.

  • Field of the Deadfoil - This land can churn out 2/2 Zombie creature tokens at little to no effort on our end. A great target for Scapeshiftfoil or Sowing Mycospawnfoil.

  • Glacial Chasmfoil - Makes us sacrifice a land to play this out, has a two life cumulative upkeep, and prevents our creatures from attacking, but this land can prevent all damage that would be dealt to us. And with our primary win-con to burn out our opponents with Hearthhull, the Worldseedfoil, we don't even need to attack to win.

  • Golgari Rot Farmfoil - Allows us to bounce back lands with useful enter the battlefield triggers or Channel abilities.

  • Horizon of Progressfoil - This land can help mix our mana, we can sacrifice it to draw us a card, and we can pay and tap it to put another land from our hand onto the battlefield.

  • Lotus Fieldfoil - Makes us sacrifice two lands when this enters, but it can tap for three mana, and we have many ways of getting our lands back onto the battlefield, so this land doesn't set us back at all.

  • Mirrorpoolfoil - Allows us to copy one of our instant or sorcery spells, or we can create a token copy of another creature we control. Something important to note here is that to activate this land, we need access to mana, so we have to make sure we've got another land that can tap for that, such as Ancient Tombfoil, Field of the Deadfoil, Thespian's Stagefoil, or Urza's Cavefoil.

  • Shifting Woodlandfoil - A great way to get value out of our permanents that have been milled away. Central to one of our infinite land loops.

  • Takenuma, Abandoned Mirefoil - Another Channel land, this one mills us three cards, then we can return a creature or planeswalker out of the graveyard back to our hand. Useful to get back key pieces.

  • Urza's Cavefoil - A reusable land tutor.

  • Vesuvafoil - Copies any land on the battlefield. And it isn't restricted to our lands, so if an opponent has a useful utility land, we can make a copy of it.

A Study in Green

Aftermath Analystfoil + Shifting Woodlandfoil + Mana Source + Land Sac Outlet

Important Note: This combo requires Delirium to be active (Four or more permanent types in the graveyard). That's more than likely going to be Land, Instant, Sorcery, and Creature, but make sure we've got four types.

Shifting Woodlandfoil needs to be in play. Aftermath Analystfoil can either be in the graveyard, or we can sacrifice it to return all lands from our graveyard to the battlefield. When those lands enter, we can use them to generate mana (untap them and then re-tap them, sacrifice them for mana, or get Landfall triggers).

Once we have enough mana to generate at least and Delirium is active, we can sacrifice those lands for value, then have Shifting Woodlandfoil become a copy of Aftermath Analystfoil for .

We can then sacrifice the Aftermath Analystfoil copy with its activated ability for to bring all the lands back into play, including the Shifting Woodlandfoil that just sacrificed itself.

The Bear of the Lake

Lumra, Bellow of the Woods + Mirrorpoolfoil + Land Untappers + Land Sac Outlet

When Lumra enters, we put all lands in our graveyard back onto our field, which will enter untapped due to any of our untappers. We can then sacrifice our lands for whatever value we have, making sure we have generated at least .

We can then tap and sacrifice Mirrorpoolfoil to make a token copy of Lumra. Before the token dies to the Legends Rule, its trigger will go off, and we will bring back all our lands to the battlefield, including the Mirrorpoolfoil we just sacrificed.

Thank you for taking a look at this deck! I've definitely missed having a lands deck, and this one feels mechanically unique enough to play with and not get bored. I've run into situations where my decks end up feeling too similar to each other, and then both decks become stale. With this deck, I've excluded several of the usual Landfall cards, such as Avenger of Zendikarfoil, Omnath, Locus of Rage *f-pp*, or Rampaging Balothsfoil. I might end up rebuilding my Yarok, the Desecration (M20) f deck and lean into the Landfall more.
