Maybeboard

Description

This deck now is WIP, many cards go in and out of the deck. Description will be fixed later.

It is a Bant combo/Stax deck. It creates a board state where no one can do anything or almost anything. The key cards for implementation of this strategy is Stasis, Living Plane, Winter Orb, Eldritch Evolution, Academy Rector.

The most common winning conditions are Stasis + Sun Titan , Academy Rector + Eldritch Evolution , Academy Rector + Pattern of Rebirth , Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Living Plane , Linvala, Keeper of Silence + Living Plane . After a lot of testing I realized that to follow the path of pure stax is very hard. The deck builds up its advantage very slowly and often fall behind other fast combo decks. Thus, it was decided to reduce the number stax cards and to build it more combo oriented.

This deck does not have any counterspells. I'm trying to do without them, and to take advantage and control with other cards. More tests will show is it worth it or not. (Exception is Muddle the Mixture, usualy it is used for fetching 2 cmc cards)

Looking for more good interactions and winning conditions.

Combos and win cons:

  1. Academy Rector + Eldritch Evolution - One of the best and fastest combos of this deck. When I saw Eldritch Evolution for the first time, I was surprised how powerful it is. When it sacrifise Rector it is almost always the end of the game. For example Rector drops Living Plane and Evolution drops Linvala, Keeper of Silence. Or this combination can bring Stasis + Sun Titan on the battlefield.
  2. Gaea's Cradle + Living Plane - green mana!
  3. Aura Shards + Living Plane - put a land in the game - destroy target enchantment/artifact
  1. Stasis + Sun Titan - the most popular combo with stasis, Sun Titan reanimates Stasis every turn.
  2. Quirion Ranger + Stasis + (Birds of Paradise/Bloom Tender/Kiora's Follower/Noble Hierarch)
  3. Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Living Plane - opponents lands are dead, your lands turn into killers
  4. Linvala, Keeper of Silence + Living Plane - lock

Any suggestions and advices are welcome!

If you're trying for a lock-up, you could consider Gaddock Teeg; you have very few non-creature spells with CMC 4 or higher anyway.

Thanks for suggestion NV_1980!

I think that Gaddock is a good candidate for the deck. I try to test him and maybe will cut some cards for more synergy.

Hi bro! Looked at your deck and I'm like holy cow thats one good deck (not to mention hella shiny haha)

Anyway, wanted to recommend you using Vedalken Mastermind. Combos so well with Stasis. All you have to do is play Vedalken first then on your next turn play Stasis. At the beginning of your opponent's next end step, use Vedalken's ability to bounce back Stasis! Real good card.

Also if you wouldn't mind, can you review my deck too? Its this one Stax'ing with Derevi. Any help is much appreciated, thanks! :)

Hi!

Thanks for the kind words and for the upvote!

Vedalken Mastermind is not a bad card. And I'm familiar with this combination. When I tested it, I was faced with the fact that Vedalken Mastermind is not so useful outside of combo. But now that You have reminded me about that card, I'll give it another chance and try to test it again. Maybe it will help to deal with symmetry of some other stax cards in the deck.

Of course I do not mind. I'll look at Your deck, and I will help with all I can.
