Vedalken Mastermind Discussion

Ovanlight on Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath (w/Primer)

UPDATE:

In: Vedalken Mastermind , Eternal Witness , and Hua Tuo, Honored Physician Out: Progenitor Mimic , Jace, Wielder of Mysteries , and Rancor

Progenitor Mimic seemed pretty slow for the list, and giving more ways that I can put Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath in my hand in response to his effect is better than a copy of creatures each turn. It was replaced by two cards (spiritually, even though I know you can only replace one with one.)

Jace, Wielder of Mysteries is just another Laboratory Maniac effect, and Thassa's Oracle fills the slot by itself fairly well, not really needing two of them.

Rancor ended up being really conditional recursion, and Eternal Witness filled the same slot but significantly more on theme with ETB themes.

Thanks NV_1980! I really appreciate your suggestions.

Also, SylonThalen, I love the idea! I just don't dip my toes into cEDH or cEDH-like decks. I had to reel it back a bit so I'm not the guy with the biggest threats in my group. Still a great take on the commander though!

Hi,

Nice deck; its mixture of ramping, control and power is captivating. We think it could benefit from some extra opportunities to return Uro back to your hand though, so that you can recast him and benefit from his triggers. Cards like Vedalken Mastermind and Erratic Portal come to mind.

We would also recommend some GY recursion to help you on this end. Eternal Witness is good (especially when combined with Panharmonicon , Deadeye Navigator , etc.) and Hua Tuo, Honored Physician .

Hope this helps. Have fun with your brew! Regards,

Atemsis is very neat. I like the way you organized your list.

You might consider these cards: Coalition Relic (can get Atemsis out on turn 4), Urza's Incubator , Muddle the Mixture (finds either piece of dramatic scepter), Spellseeker (finds Muddle), Rush of Knowledge , Assert Authority , Thoughtcast , Concentrate , Vedalken Mastermind , AEthersnipe , River Serpent , Lay Claim , Striped Riverwinder , Floodwaters , Windcaller Aven , New Perspectives

king-saproling on Teferi's Temporal Tyranny

You might consider trying these out: Vedalken Mastermind (infinite mana and Teferi replays if you can generate 8+ mana with 3 rocks), Isochron Scepter , Merchant Scroll , Fabricate , Sculpting Steel , Copy Artifact , Codex Shredder (recur any card in blue? yes please!), Trophy Mage (grabs Rings), Trinket Mage , Muddle the Mixture , Drift of Phantasms (decent blocker or grabs Rings), Deepglow Skate , Everflowing Chalice , Aphetto Alchemist , Sensei's Divining Top (extra good with untap effects: put draw ability on stack, respond by untapping and activating draw ability again)

Hi,

Interesting deck. Very novel. The win-rate you mention, was that against multiple opponents at once or in 1-v-1 games? Can you mention a bit what happened during these games and what commanders you were playing against?

As for recommendations, we think it would be good if you would add Thought Vessel and Reliquary Tower to make sure you don't suffer as much from your bounce spells as your opponents might.

We feel Stasis could be a wonderful addition to this deck, as it could be a wincon; especially when you also add stuff like Vedalken Mastermind or another card that allows you to bounce (your own) permanents. Get the bouncer on the field first. At the end of your turn, cast stasis (make sure to leave mana available for bouncing). At the end of your last opponents' turn, bounce Stasis back into your hand. Rinse and repeat. Pretty terrifying. We're using this combo in our Brago deck.

Have fun brewing and playing this.

With kind regards,

Vedalken Mastermind is a 1/1 creature with no abilities when Humility is in play, so it wouldn't be able to bounce.
