I like Scion of the Ur-Dragon as a dragon Commander because it lets you play with all your dragons, and can tutor up the right one in case you want to combo.

Scion's Ability Show

An interesting and fun way that Scion works, is you can activate it's ability multiple times in a row without resolving them. Then, once they start to resolve, Scion will become a different dragon for each resolution, allowing you to activate abilities of each dragon it becomes in between it turning into the next one. For example, activate Scion twice then start resolving. Once the first instance resolves, have it become a Moltensteel Dragon. Now, with the second instance still on the stack but before it resolves, pump the Moltensteel say five times. Then let the second instance trigger and turn into Dragon Tyrant. Now Scion will be a Dragon Tyrant, but it still has +5/+0. Now swing in with a 11/11 doublestrike flying trample commander for commander damage win!

Once these triggers start to resolve though, you cannot activate Scion's ability again, as it will no longer be the Scion. Abilities of different dragons must be activated at instant speed for the short time they remain that dragon in between resolutions. After the last resolution of Scion's ability, it will remain that dragon for the rest of the turn.

Worldgorger Dragon / Animate Dead Combo Show

This combo basically flickers your all your permanents as many times as you want, letting you tap mana sources in between to get almost-infinite mana...

If you have Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead, or Necromancy in your hand, you can activate Scion of the Ur-Dragon to put Worldgorger Dragon into the graveyard, then cast Animate Dead targeting Worldgorger Dragon in the graveyard.

When World Gorger enters the battlefield, all other permanents you own become exiled, including Animate Dead. When Animate Dead leaves play, World Gorger will go back into into the graveyard, which will return everything else back to play, including Animate Dead. Taget World Gorger in the graveyard and repeat for loop -- Tap lands and mana rocks in-between flickers for infinite mana.

(This is why the mana base includes original dual lands as opposed to shock lands, because with shock lands you would need to pay 2 life to use each land each time it gets flickered. You could also play with shock lands, and just rely on signets with colorless mana from pain lands, or Arcane Signet, which is what I actually do, or run basics but...)

If you have Dragon Tempest and another dragon in play when you start this combo, that alone can win the game with enough iterations of the cycle.

If Scion of the Ur-Dragon was in play when you start this combo, mana can be dumped into his ability between flickers, allowing you to put as many dragons as you want in the graveyard.

To end the cycle just reanimate a different dragon from the graveyard when Animate Dead re-enters... For example:

Winning with Shivan Hellkite

Shivan Hellkite + infinite {R} = infinite damage to your opponents.

Getting all the Dragons into play

This is a little less straight forward and a little confusing, but it's basically the Bladewing the Risen + Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm combo, with a little extra...

If you can't get access to infinite {R}, or just want to see all the Dragons in play:

1: With Scion of the Ur-Dragon in play, initiate World Gorger Loop, get infinite mana, it can even be all colorless.

2: Use mana to put all dragons into the graveyard with Scion's ability, except Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm. Scion must ultimately become last so that it stays Miirym for the turn.

Now let the cycle go once more, but when Animate Dead re-enters have it target Bladewing the Risen in the graveyard.

3: Now, in response to Animate Dead's ETB effect, before it resolves and puts Bladewing into play, activate Scion turning it into Miirym, and putting Miirym in the graveyard, so that Scion is now Miirym for the turn.

4: Resolve Animate Dead and return Bladewing to the battlefield. This now creates two triggers, one from Bladewing, and one from Miirym (Scion) which will create another non-Legendary Bladewing...

5: Have real Bladewing's ability resolve first, targeting Immersturm Predator, returning it to play. This will trigger Miirym (Scion) again, creating a second Immersturm Predator, so let that resolve.

6: Now, with Miirym (Scion)'s ability from step 4 still on the stack, sacrifice the real Bladewing to Immersturm Predator, putting Bladewing back in the graveyard.

1. Resolve Miirym (Scion)'s ability from step 4, finally putting a non-legendary copy of Bladewing the Risen into play. With the Bladwing copy's ETB, target real Bladewing in the graveyard.

2. Now you're basically back at step 4., with Bladewing entering, and creating 2 triggers, one from himself and one from Miirym (Scion), except this time, instead of returning Immersturm Predator from the graveyard with Bladewing, return any dragon you want!

Repeat steps 4. through 8., minding in step 6. to always sacrifice the real Bladewing before it's copy enters. If the real Bladewing is not in the graveyard before the copy enters, the copy will not be able to target real Bladewing , as targets must be chosen when an ability goes on the stack, you cannot put real Bladewing in the graveyard after the copy enters, or it will break the loop.

Ultimately you can get all your dragons out with haste from Dragonlord Kolaghan.

If you want to get really crazy, re-animate Miirym during this loop, if you like math...

Other Combos and Synergies Show

Old Gnawbone can get infinite attack phases with Aggravated Assault, as long as you can do 5 damage each attack.

Activate Scion twice. On the first resolution, have Scion become Moltensteel Dragon, and pump 5 or 6 times. On second resolution have Scion become Atarka, World Render before declaring attackers, or Blast-Furnace Hellkite after attackers, for lethal commander damage.

I haven't included Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind or Niv-Mizzet, Parun, even though it is a very strong combo in this deck, these cards aren't good here on their own. Although Worldgorger Dragon is an even worse card than these as it has absolutely no value outside of it's combo, the other pieces of the combo, the re-animation, is very good in here on their own. Also, even though I do like to optimize decks, I think this combo is a little too cheap, even for me. Worldgorger is janky and complicated, and getting infinite mana and putting all your dragons into play is way cooler than just pinging everyone. But maybe I'll put it in someday, it is only 2 cards...

I used to have more other creatures in the deck, and I liked to think that the other creatures in the deck just like to hang out with the dragons. Maybe they worship the dragons, or are like the leaders and generals of the dragon empire. Or they just have fun smashing face together... Now it's just Jodah and Sisay partyin' with the Dragons!

I ended up taking a lot of non-Dragon cards out though, to make room for all the mana-rocks. This deck is very mana hungry, and having only non-basic lands this deck can get shut out by a Blood Moon or Back to Basics. A lot of the ramp in the deck was creature based, but that made it more vulnerable. I switched to "Rainbow Rocks", or all the Signets and Talsimans, for ramp, color fixing, and anti-non-basic land tech.
