Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

Legendary Creature — Dragon Spirit

Flying, ward (When this becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays .)

Whenever another nontoken Dragon enters the battlefield under your control, create a token that's a copy of it, except the token isn't legendary if that Dragon is legendary.

AkaAkuma on Xyris | Card Draw? More Like Snake Draw [Primer]

Hey Amyas! Thanks for the compliment!

Interestingly, that is how I started as well. I brought the 5 2020 precons at their release and opened all but the Temur one to playtest one to another with friends. Xyris especially went much under the radar because of Kalamax and the Haldan/Paco duo.

Then years later i discovered my love for the Temur colors after the introduction of Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm - Temur in my prior experiences seemed to be very divided in what it really wanted to accomplish or just have commanders that want to copy or cascade on the stack,. not my cup of tea. But Xyris followed soon after as my second Temur deck.

Xyris learned me about the importance of having a healthy amount of lands in a deck and how politics and protection can go a long way.

Cheers to you, my snake friend. Certainly share your tales of fun games you had with him!

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate them. I had to double-check the deck list to ensure that a copy of Reanimate was NOT in it. I had a copy of it in the deck for many, many moons ago and then replaced it a couple of years ago. With the recent additions of Colossal Grave-Reaver and Sarkhan, Soul Aflame, perhaps I should entertain Reanimate's return to the 99. I cannot include Show and Tell here because I do not want to assist my opponents in any way. I understand the benefit of dropping down Dracogenesis, but due to the threats of my opponents freely putting into play Eldrazi, Omniscience, or anything that helps to acclerate their own game plans, I will stand pat on that suggestion. I like the idea of including a copy of Frantic Search, particularly because it is an instant. Herd Heirloom is a definite future addition once a copy of it becomes available, most likely replacing Chromatic Lantern. Steely Resolve garners a little less consideration here, but is not completely ruled out. Its presence would allow Plaza of Heroes and Lightning Greaves to be replaced, although the loss of haste for the creature equipped by the Greaves may be missed. The neutering of Rite of Replication is one reason to push back against auto-including Steely Resolve. An unsuspected kicked RoR is a win condition here and has resulted in many victories in the past. Another reason is that Steely Resolve is symmetrical. If one of my opponents is also playing Dragons, I either have a dead card in hand, or a card that nullifies all of the spot interaction for my opponents' Dragons. In my play group, there are A LOT of Dragon decks (The Ur-Dragon, Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm, Morophon, the Boundless, Tiamat), so considering Steely Resolve from a distance is a necessary process here. As for Despark and/or Grasp of Fate, I can definitely reconcile the inculsion of these spot removal spells. Which cards would you recommend replacing? This is one of my oldest EDH decks, and I stuggle mightily at times deciding which cards to replace in the 99 because, at least through my eyes, the deck list has become very, very tight over the years (about ten years). Maybe Despark for Path to Exile? Grasp of Fate for Beast Within? Thank you for your comment! It's always great to communicate with fans of Scion of the Ur-Dragon, especially during the era of The Ur-Dragon. Thanks again!

Tarkir: Dragonstorm Show

Sarkhan, Draconic Bloodline

Legendary Creature - Human Shaman Warrior

Haste

Whenever Sarkhan attacks, you may put a non-legendary dragon from your hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking the same player or permanent. Sacrifice it at the end of combat.

Sacrifice a legendary Dragon, : Transform Sarkhan.

4/4

Sarkhan, Dragon God

Legendary Creature - Dragon God

Sarkhan, Dragon God is all colors

Flying, vigilance, haste

Sarkhan has each keyword ability among Dragons you control. If an ability has a cost associated with it such as ward, use the highest value among similar ward costs, and combine different ward costs.

Whenever Sarkhan attacks, reveal a Dragon card you own from any zone and put it onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. If it's not legendary, make a token copy of it as it enters. Shuffle your library if you searched it.

8/7

This means if you have Atarka, World Render he has trample. Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon gives him infect. Archive Dragon gives him ward . Dromoka, the Eternal gives him bolster 2.

As for Ward, let's say you have a Ward from Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm, Ward from Iymrith, Desert Doom and let's assume there's an Aura that says something like "Ward - Pay 4 life"

He would have the higher as well as pay 4 life in order to target.

Bleh I feel better and have 1 minute before I clock back in for lunch so..

Wild!!

Or, actually you know what?

If you have a card that annoys you that you wish was "better" or "different" or "lore accurate", make it.

Only caveat is you can't just make it cost less mana. That's cheating.

Unfortunately right now I literally only have 1 commander deck (Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm) and nothing else. This is because I've long since sold my entire collection with the exceptions of scraps of old decks and boxes of commons and uncommons that honestly should just be tossed into the garbage at this point.

Protoplasmic Dragon

Creature - Dragon Ooze

Flying, ward

When Protoplasmic Dragon enters the battlefield, you may have it enter the battlefield as a copy of another creature, except it's a Dragon Ooze in addition to its other types.

6/6

So yes you could have it target and copy anything, or honestly you could also just keep it as a 6/6 flyer with ward which isn't that bad either.

Repeat

The most fun commander I've had in the past two or so years has been Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm.

What's interesting is that the card doesn't do the character justice. She's a draconic spirit who has been trapped in an eternal library of information she was hoarding. She usually floats around as just a dismembered head. Oh, and she's also batshit insane

Miirym, Voices of Insanity

Legendary Creature - Spirit Dragon

Flying, Ward

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, you may exile an instant or sorcery from your graveyard that has equal or more mana value. If you do, copy the cast spell. You may choose new targets.

6/6

Honestly, that is far more faithful to her in every way possible. :D

Thank you for the amazing challenge, Made_Compleat!

So let's repeat! ^_^

TypicalTimmy on Has Anyone Tried a Multi …

That's kind of how my friends and I largely played for the past 10 years, up until very recently.

I use to have a group of friends that would all bring multiple decks. We'd play a game, retire the deck and pick another one. It even got to the point we would sleeve everything in black and put them all in black UltraPro boxes and shuffle the decks around into a pile and randomly pick, so literally nobody knew what anybody was playing. At one point it was so crazy that we went with a new rule.

You draw seven cards face down and take it. You aren't allowed to look until it's your first turn. You literally keep whatever your first hand is, no matter what.

Made for very intense games. Also was a ton of fun when someone would discover something about a deck you built that you didn't even realize.

I miss those days. Now all I've got left is a single Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm deck and a few disheveled precons strewn about, and I only have one friend who plays in person anymore. To make matters worse, our schedules seldom align so we really only see each other maybe once every two or three months now.

Realistically, I haven't even bought Magic in probably close to two and a half years, except for an occasional precon here or there. It simply isn't worth the time and effort and expense anymore for me.

The only thing that keeps me in the hobby anymore is the custom card forum here on Tappedout which, let's be honest, only has like 5 other participants. :/

Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

Emil Irwinn, Symmetry

Legendary Creature - Human Elf Mutant Wizard

Hexproof

Whenever another nontoken permanent enters the battlefield under any players control, each opponent creates a token copy of it.

Ahh, at long last... Perfection.

3/3

Awesome challenge!!

Repeat, and use This link to make anagrams! :D

Protip: Use a card with a long name and multiple vowels. It'll make it a lot easier ;)

Bonus points if you make a card using Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar

TypicalTimmy on Card creation challenge

Well, perhaps my favorite Commander is Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm and I think you all know my favorite plane is Tarkir. So that seems rather fitting.

Miirym, Tarkir's Soul

Legendary Creature - Dragon Spirit

Flying, Ward

You may look at the top card of your library at any time and spend any color mana to cast Dragon spells from it.

Whenever you cast a Dragon spell from anywhere that isn't your hand, copy that spell. It enters the battlefield as a non legendary token copy.

6/6

That's dirty.

I wanted to blend the ferocity and tenacity of Temur with the power and grace of Jeskai.

I am honestly surprised how many users enjoy this challenge so let's keep it going
