Maybeboard

This is a Phenax mill deck- I'm always updating, so excuse the huge maybe board. It's fun to play, but once your playgroup realizes how powerful it is, you will be a target.

I know many don't feel like mill is viable in an EDH format, but I've had pretty good results with it so far. The basic idea is to protect yourself with creatures and then tap them to mill right before your turn. What I like about it is that you don't have to attack with your creatures, and there's no way for your opponents to block your mill, so you can kind of pillow fort and drain everyone's libraries.

Consuming Aberration absolutely kills in this deck, since it works off of all opponents graveyards and grows exponentially. Eater of the Dead is nearly always a win-con since it mills based on the number of creatures your opponents have in their libraries.

Intruder Alarm and Paradox Engine allow me to get multiple untaps per turn. Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of Anticipation are very necessary to allow your creatures to survive long enough to activate their abilities, and Thousand-Year Elixir allow you to activate the abilities immediately.

I included 2 cards with the inspired ability: King Macar, the Gold-Cursed which exiles your opponent's creatures and gives you treasure tokens when it untaps, and Arbiter of the Ideal which allows you to put an artifact, creature, or land card into the battlefield when it untaps. So tap, mill, untap, get stuff. I'm looking for more worth while untap abilities, but haven't found any yet.

Left unchecked, Undead Alchemist causes a ton of problems.

For protection, other than counter spells (which I love), No Mercy , Propaganda , Dissipation Field , and Silent Arbiter will help keep you from getting attacked outright while you build your board state. The planeswalkers are all effective in this deck, but I mainly use them as a distraction- everyone seems to really worry about how close you're getting to the ultimates and forget that your deck is full of tricks. A lot of my other creature selections are there for protection, draw, or distraction.

This deck is a bit of a glass cannon that relies on creatures to win through mill, so you have to watch for board wipes and removal.

Like everyone, I'm always interested in suggestions, questions, comments.
