The purpose of this build is capture the essence of one of my favorite Legacy decks. Mud Welder. Mud was designed in a format where 3 mana was the top end. The idea was ramp into 5,6,7 drops to go over the top of the opponent. I have keep in many of the cards from mud; Ancient Tomb, Goblin Welder, Lodestone Golem, Kuldotha Forgemaster, and replacing cards like Steel Hellkite & Wurmcoil Engine, with cards like Salvation Colossus, and Phyrexian Dreadnought. Which is why in keeping with the spirit of the Legacy deck, I wanted to go over the top off other decks. So I rounded out the top end with often underused, and overlooked creatures, like Ancient Stone Idol and Colossus of Akros.

The maybe board is part cards to play around with, because they seem fun, and part cards to make the deck stronger/weaker to fit a play group/table. There are cards that are actively subpar like Orim's Thunder, but they are pet cards.

Edit The deck has evolved. Keeping with the original spirit of the deck, the idea is to go over the top of other decks, with big creatures...the Iron Giants. Early game consist of dropping rocks, mid is a bunch of set up utility/removal. The goal is to have at least one doubler in play, and one Iron Giant. $ coupies is usually enough to close out a game. The best thing is it does well with creature board wipes, because you only use one giant at a time. let the others sit in the yard as back ups.
