Changelog

-1 Azra Oddsmaker for +1 Edric, Spymaster of Trest -1 Bident of Thassa for +1 Spell Pierce -1 Elemental Bond for +1 Painful Truths -1 Garna, the Bloodflame for +1 Recollect -1 Gleam of Battle for +1 Despark -1 Hour of Revelation for +1 Beast Within -1 Jungle Wayfinder for +1 Noble Hierarch -1 Molten Echoes for +1 Chaos Warp -1 Oketra's Monument for +1 Negate

After playing with the deck enough times I'm cutting cards that have made no impact and realistically have no future in the deck. Also, I'm building the deck around Najeela, the Blade-Blossom ability to create tokens and eventually to consistently activate her second ability to have continuous combats. Impact Tremors has been a heavy lifter in this deck, and after my last game where it was destroyed which cost me the win I'm adding Recollect as a means to grab it back from the graveyard. I could Chaos Warp a warrior token to tutor a permanent. Noble Hierarch is a mana dork and I'm considering adding more at some point. Beast Within Despark Negate and Spell Pierce add more interactions to the deck. While Edric, Spymaster of Trest and Painful Truths for card draw.

Small Update

NocTurtle, 1 year ago

I was very unlucky in my first game so I've changed a little to curb that a bit. Took out Garruk, Cursed Huntsman, Ruthless Technomancer, and Dictate of Erebos, and added a Village Rites, Corrupted Conviction, and Demand Answers. Once Korvold is out they won't be as needed but before then they are neccessary. I would love to put Technomancer back in but the power of the creatures in the deck is too low for it to be worth it.

===accordion ===panel: Changelog 14-05-2024

Reasons for removal:

  • The deck has a bunch of cantrips it can do without. It needs other cards to function first.
  • Metallurgic Summonings is a bit expensive for the deck, and makes tokens with weird stats, making it (even) harder to do the damage math.
  • Niblis of Frost is a pet card, and since the deck doesn't work right now, it has to go.
  • Soulblade Djinn and Strongarm Monk are expensive blanket prowess effects, and I think the deck needs more token creators in comparison.
  • Shreds of Sanity sounds okay, but because it's net 0 cards in hand and requires another card that I can pitch, it doesn't feel quite right to play.
  • Reasons for adding:

  • Bident of Thassa is another test for more recuring card advantage, and Deep Analysis is more regular card advantage.
  • The deck needs some cards that just create tokens instantly.
  • Skyclave Relic, Spinning Wheel and Worn Powerstone is more ramp, since the deck can use more mana ramp.

    ===accordion ===panel: Changelog 14-05-2024

    Reasons for removal:

  • I don't like keeping mana up for Hellish Rebuke.
  • Meteor Golem is way too expensive for omnitarget removal in this deck.
  • Combustible Gearhulk doesn't feel good to play most of the time, since it would either overdraw, or cause me to mill, which I don't like either.
  • Sower of Discord doesn't have a lot of impact and feels bad to play most of the time.
  • Tectonic Giant wants to attack, and that's not really part of this deck's plan.
  • Undercity Scrounger is a fun idea, but it's just a bit too clunky in the deck.
  • Reasons for adding:

  • Wild Magic Surge is a neat omnitarget removal spell that also gets the other player something, so feels less bad for your opponent.
  • Sign in Blood can make the draws slightly better, and has the option to kill someone else.
  • Roiling Vortex, Loyal Subordiante and Chandra, Awakened Inferno are all good DOT cards.
  • Rakdos Signet is another great card to get Mogis out early.

    ===accordion ===panel: Changelog 14-05-2024

    Reasons for removal:

  • Labyrinth of Skophos and Terrain Generator were pretty much always just colorless lands that aren't being used.
  • Wandering Fumarole feels like it can be upgraded. The fact that it can turn into a land does pretty much nothing for the deck.
  • Aria of Flame and Strionic Resonator don't do anything in this deck.
  • Finale of Promise doesn't have any cool targets to hit. Probably works better in a different deck.
  • Reasons for adding:

  • Dictate of Kruphix and Kumena's Awakening give some recurring draw the deck is missing.
  • Myriad Landscape makes it easier to trigger Mystic Sanctuary, and therefore has more of a purpose than Terrain Generator.
  • Thundering Falls gives more top-deck manipulation.
  • Commander's Sphere and Izzet Locket give some more ramp the deck can use.

Outlaws of Thunder Junction and other upgrades

    Romer, 1 year ago

Alright alright, I didn't intend for this to be voltron but it definitely leans that way. It's also really slow so I'm adding more ramp and removing some of the other creatures that I expected to hold equipment but actually don't help that much.

Also increasing the volume of protection, since having to re-cast and potentially wait a turn to attack is super slow.

Several changes made, adding more creatures, damage sources, and some new utility. Many poor choices and mana rocks were removed.

    Update 1

    Danutercisd, 1 year ago

I removed some cards that I thought didn't really help my gameplan or combo too well with my deck, such as thornbite staff. I also removed some cards that did synergize, which included reassembling skeleton, hatching plans, ashioks reaper, and a few others, but I think I wanna have a little bit more stax and token generation, so instead I added: Bitterblossom Ghostly Prison Pemmin's Aura Archon of Emeria Aura of Silence Authority of the Consuls I did not touch my mana or my protection cards, because I need to make sure Ertai can stay on the field, and having good protection for that is important. Overall, I changed the deck around a bit in order to better utilize Ertai's ability, and slow the game down enough to fish for my win cons. I did not put any artifact based stax, because I am unable to utilize Ertai's ability, so I tried to make sure I have enchantment and creature based stax instad. Let me know what you think!

    Reasons for removal:

  • Acidic Slime is expensive removal, and the deck has enough artifact/enchantment removal.
  • Bloodgift Demon is alright, but I wanna try some cheaper recuring draw.
  • Faithless Looting and Hunter's Insight just don't feel very good most of the time.
  • Jund Panorama, Mortuary Mire and Spinerock Knoll are my least favourite lands in the deck.
  • Hellkite Overlord is just a big boy, and I want my cards to do a bit more now.
  • Garruk Wildspeaker, Harrow, Solemn Simulacrum and Springbloom Druid are all okay, but I realized they fit better in a different deck.
  • Patriarch's Bidding is my 6th recursion spell ATM, and it might be a little too much.
  • I've not used the Blades of Velis Vel combo in this deck in FOREVER, and it also just doesn't feel as good anymore.
  • Reasons for adding:

  • The deck needs some instant speed spot removal: Go for the Throat and Terminate seem good.
  • Ambition's Cost, Colossal Majesty and Return of the Wildspeaker fill up the draw slots that need some love.
  • Exotic Orchard, Fire-Lit Thicket and Temple of the False God feel like better lands.
  • Birds of Paradise, Cultivate, Farseek and Kodama's Reach are the required normal ramp for the deck, and Herald's Horn is just fun.
  • Flameshadow Conjuring might have some cool synergies for the deck, and gives it something to spend a little bit of mana on for big effect.

    Small updates

    shadowmoses514, 1 year ago

-1 Grafted Exoskeleton +1 Sword of feat and famine: I've always been kinda weird about having an infect outlet in this deck since it can so quickly one shot my opp, sometimes outta no where, so I decided to replace it with another sword that I had in my collection. I do think sword of F & F is stronger than I want this deck to be, but I keep accidently power creeping this list, lol

-1 jin gitaxis +1 Bonny Pall, Clearcutter: Jin is cool, but this isn't the deck for him at all. I thought he was gonna be a bigger version of Sram, but he's more like a 5/5 that eats a removal spell instead of actually drawing a bunch of cards. Bonny has the opportunity to not only draw, but also ramp me and makes a X/X beater when he ETBs. Gonna try it out.

    Bigger scores!

    shadowmoses514, 1 year ago

-1 Night Scythe +1 Simulacrum Synthesizer: Scythe was my weakest vehicle, so I'll def enjoy drawing this over the Scythe. Both of them make creatures, but the synthesizer def makes all around better dudes more often, helps me go infinite, and is overall a better card at the same mana slot.

-1 Buried Ruin +1Fomori Vault: The vault is repeatable synergy. Discarding my worst card to select the best card in my top X over multiple turns is better than bringing back my best artifact 1x. Plus, Academy Ruins already does what buried ruin is doing, but better. So this seems like a no brainer.

    Difficult cuts for Thunder Junction

    AkaAkuma, 1 year ago

Out with the smaller accumulating threats and in with splashier new ones. While Chasm Skulker and Managorger Hydra served this deck from the very beginning, more diverse options like Breena, the Demagoguefoil and Bristly Bill, Spine Sower have set the stage. With the rise of tokens Tragic Arrogance is set aside for Culling Ritual and Doppelgang has a higher ceiling than Rite of Replication.

    Cowboys

    McDeity, 1 year ago

Smirking Spelljacker is good, but at five mana it's probably just not worth running.

Lost in the Maze is maybe better than Lightning Greaves, and may well deserve a spot.

Archmage of Echoes is hard for me to evaluate

Step Through is weird, but probably unnecessary?

Overwhelmed Apprentice is another Faerie Seer

Otawara, Soaring City could I suppose replace Scavenger Grounds or Reliquary Tower

    Land exchange

    SteelHeadPaladin, 1 year ago

Izzet Guildgate and Highland Lake enter tapped, and while Izzet Boilerworks enters tapped the bounce guarantees a land drop and taps for and Shivan Reef is a nice include.

    Land Exchange

    SteelHeadPaladin, 1 year ago

Got rid of Cinder Barrens Forsaken Sanctuary Orzhov Guildgate because they enter tapped. Sulfurous Springs Caves of Koilos round out the pain lands and Exotic Orchard is a rainbow land that enters untapped.

    Land exchange

    SteelHeadPaladin, 1 year ago

Swapped Izzet Boilerworks for Shivan Reeffoil and Rakdos Carnarium for Sulfurous Springs as I feel that the Ravnica bounce lands are better utilized in two color decks than three color decks.

Changed the Alseid of Life's Bounty for Selfless Savior, they offer better protection from removal and it does not cost mana to activate. Changed the Gods Willing for Loran's Escape as it better protects against boardwipes, and changed the Take Up the Shield for some more lands, as 20 were too little. I also added 2 Goldhound, they have menace, so they can easily trigger Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon without being blocked, and can be sacrificed for mana if needed. I considered leaving out the Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin, as I think it is strictly worse than Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon, but having a copy of the same effect allows more consistency. Unfortunately, I had to cut the Unruly Mob, as they did not quite work. I might also add a Celebrity Fencer, or just add one of the sideboarded Aurelia, the Law Above.
