Introduction

This is a proactive deck that uses Marwyn and similar creatures to produce absurd amounts of mana to sink into win conditions. There is a surprising amount of interaction available due to the synergy of ETB creatures and tutors. This particular deck is much cheaper than the usual CEDH list due to the exclusion of cards such as Jeweled Lotus, moxes, Gaea's Cradle, Mana Crypt, Finale of Devastation and Allowsaurus Shepherd, but can still hold its own at a CEDH table.

Mulligan Show

There are a number of things to look for in an opening hand. Ramp, draw/tutors, lands and interaction. Ideally take a hand with all four of these, however taking at least three of these will generally be a good enough hand. Note that you will not need many lands at all. 1-2 lands will be plenty if you have 1 cmc dorks or a sol ring.

Gameplan Show

The gameplan is to assemble an infinite mana combo as fast as possible and sink that mana into a win condition. Pretty simple. How will we play this out? Slap down a some ramp turn 1 if possible and Marywn on turn two. After this its all about playing more elves in the best sequence to pump Marywn so that you can play more spells, alternatively pumping Marwyn with a spell such as Scale Up or Might of Old Krosa will accelerate your gameplan in most cases. With a large amount of mana available, tt is time to draw cards or tutor. Usually you will require at least 2-3 tutors to assemble a win, so there are times when it is better to tutor for Regal Force to refill your hand or Eternal Witness get back the tutor to go get a Temur Sabertooth. This will allow you to bounce the witness to get back the tutor again. The eternal witness line is very valuable if you have an infinite mana combo on board, but only one tutor available.

The tutor you have available will also most likely change what line you will need to go. A Woodland Bellower can search up Fierce Empath, which can in turn find a Kogla, Titan Ape, Great Oak Guardian or Regal Force . Other usual targets in less ideal situations include Eternal Witness, Hyrax Tower Scout, Quirion Ranger and Reclamation Sage. Note that a number of the tutors can only get green creatures, and to find a Cogwork Assembler to sink mana for a win you will either need to use Weird Harvest, Primal Command, Chord of Calling or Shared Summons, or otherwise build a draw engine with cards like Duskwatch Recruiter  , Staff of Domination, or a Temur Witness line. With Ashaya, Soul of the Wilds or Temur Sabertooth related infinite combos you may also draw through your deck by bouncing and replaying Llanowar Visionary or Elvish Visionary.

Sometimes it will be necessary to remove something that is stopping you from winning. Most of the time finding answers with tutors will use Reclamation Sage, Eternal Witness or Kogla. In the event that you have access to Chord of Calling and one of your important spells is being countered, you can attempt to tutor a Destiny Spinner to the battlefield. Tutor hate such as Opposition Agent, Aven Mindcensor and Ashiok, Dream Render are some of the biggest problems, and will require card draw for answers or returning something already used from graveyard with Eternal Witness. Card draw hate such as Narset, Parter of Veils and Notion Thief may also hinder your gameplan, but Cursed Totem can completely shut the deck down. In the event that key pieces have been removed or that a Rule of Law effect is in play it is possible to use Yisan Chord to circumvent this and find a line to a combo depending on what mana sources tou have open. The first two searches with Yisan will typically be Quirion Ranger/Wirewood Symbiote and Scryb Ranger. After that it may depend on your board state, but you could continue into Hyrax Tower Scout to get a Temur Sabertooth.

In the even that you accidentally create an infinite mana combo with Marwyn, but have no payoff, if possible bounce and replay elves to pump her so she can't be removed by Toxic Deluge. She can then potentially be used to hit players for lethal commander damage.

How to win Show

Once you have assembled one of the many combinations of mana combos you will need to use that mana to win. Cogwork Assembler is perfect, but needs to be played in the first main phase if you are to win on the same turn. Copy itself many times for a hasty combat swing at everyone. Most combos require a bounce and recast of a creature, in which case Aetherflux Reserviour can be used to take everyone out, unfortuntely it cannot be tutored and requries card draw. Mana can also be sunk into Destiny Spinner to create large creatures that can be untapped in most combos, or Elvish Warmaster ond Great Oak Guardian will grow all your creatures into something huge, but with enough blockers from opponents can be denied a victory. There is also a Temur Witness opttion of using Beast Within to remove all of your opponents permaments.

Card Advantage Show

Need some extra cards? Don't worry about it. We gotcha covered. There are a number of card draw spells such as Soul's Majesty and Harmonize. But wait theres more! Need that card advantage but with a little more board presence, then slap down Duskwatch Recruiter  , Nylea, Keen-Eyed, Voice of Many and Realmwalker.

Budget Cuts Show

How much you're willing to spend on singles and what cards are already part of your collection will limit how you put together a deck of your own. In the spirit of lower budget players this section will include some cheap alternatives for key cards over $5. I'll be ignoring lands as you can just replace those with basics in a pinch.

Unfortunately, quite a number of tutors aren't as affordable as we'd like them to be. In the event you are scraping on a much lower budget you can increase the number of elf cards and card draw available. This will also open up a more elf ball aggro option for you. In these circumstances I would suggest cards such as Realmwalker, Imperious Perfect, Lys Alana Huntmaster, Timberwatch Elf,,Elvish Promenade, Overwhelming Stampede, Collective Unconcious, Hunter's Insight, Hunter's Prowess
