Do you like control decks? Do you like turning your commander game into archenemy? Do you want to show your playgroup why graveyard hate is a must have in your EDH toolbox? And do you love flashy, thematic finishes where you wipe your entire playgroup? Then give this deck a whirl.

This is a semi-competitive Grixis Battlecruiser control deck with a themed Endboss finish: Summon the God-Pharaoh, and rip apart the heavens dropping bomb after bomb on your helpless opponents. Make no mistake: Kess is the commander, but she is not the general of this deck. She has become a servant of the one true ruler: Nicol Bolas. This is a themed deck where Kess has been corrupted by the God Pharaoh himself, and along with his lieutenants, the Havengul Lich and Liliana Death's Majesty, (with support from wizards and dragons who have fallen under his sway, expendable fodder for the Pharaoh) the trio work to summon the Elder Dragon himself. The deck is geared around tossing cards in graveyards (both your own and your opponents), using this as your main card advantage resource, prolonging the game with recurrable removal, counterspells, and boardwipes, before tutoring for Bolas, then recurring the tutor with Kess for a finisher which Bolas will use to tear open the heavens and destroy all with a massive x-spell (Torment of Hailfire, Banefire/Fireball, or Comet Storm) which can be either copied the turn played, or played out of the graveyard next turn. It feels great to say "Hailfire for 10" after a midgame boardwipe into two turns of Bolas exiling cards from everyone's hand, knowing you will do the same thing next turn. Watch the fear on your opponents' faces as they realize the spell sits in your graveyard, waiting to punish them once more. Win with flavor: Your God-Pharaoh has returned! Don't poke/provoke anyone early, and strategically toss spells into your own graveyard (and creatures into your opponents'). Shut down potential threats and play your midgame lieutenants to draw resources and hate, and ramp into a board-wipe and/or tutor, and drop the Pharaoh and enjoy a game of commander archenemy as your helpless opponents watch as their hands, libraries, and permanents are ripped away from them. Watch as your playgroup attempts a final desperate alliance; as they are all left topdecking for answers to their approaching doom. But the God-Pharaoh does not discriminate: all will perish, for when you have finished toying with your new subjects, blast them all into oblivion.

After tweaking some of the card draw spells, I realized the following: We don't need to draw cards. I know this is magic heresy, but here me out: don't draw cards. And make your opponents do the same. With Kess and the reanimation package we run, there's a good chance we will get more value out of every singe card than our opponents ever will. If you have one tutor, get omen, recast the tutor for a mystical tutor, then cast whatever you want (usually another tutor). Draw whatever you want while you opponents shoot blindly, and save your spells in your graveyard for a more opportune time. Not to mention casting freebies from bolas while everyone else is locked in to one a turn. Value city.
