While it is slightly less effiecient in the beginning of the game, you might actually prefer Curious Homunculus Flip to baral. You only have 2 counterspells unless I missed something, so you would probably get more value out of post flip Voracious Reader Flip. It usually can flip fairly quickly in my experience.

Definitely interesting cards to toy around with. I wrote them off as slow durdle cards that didn't contribute enough to the gameplan when I was first building the deck, but looking at the deck they could do a bit more. Contingency Plan is typically card disadvantage until you realize how many cards have flashback/aftermath in addition to being a very obvious enabler for early Cryptic Serpents and Voracious Reader Flips. The only remaining problem with it is that oftentimes I'd rather be playing another one of my 2 drops in order to get a more immediate benefit. Pieces of the Puzzle looks good in that it almost guarantees I draw 2 nonland cards and then throw the rest into the grave for fuel, but if you are taking spells, you will likely only ever throw 1 spell into the grave with it (assuming you hit the required spells to draw). Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora for cheap and efficient card-draw engines. They would draw less hate than Jace, Unraveler of Secrets, and since you only have two creatures in your deck, they would allow you to draw more cards than Skullclamp.
Mizzix's Mastery for graveyard recursion.
Do you have enough land to justify Doubling Cube?
Do you have enough card-draw to justify Thought Vessel?
With a counterspell to back it up, you can play Impending Disaster.
Ruination is a good way of getting rid of those annoying lands, and if your opponents are running four colors or more, it could potentially take out everything. It blows up annoying stuff like Boseiju, Who Shelters All, which could also be a great inclusion in your deck.
Land Equilibrium would be great, since your opponents will probably be playing more lands than you.

Sorry for the double-post, but I forgot to mention: I played against Mill the other day and Engulf the Shore was very effective against my Creature-heavy deck. I'm not sure it'd be good sideboard tech here, since it would reset any Voracious Reader Flips (and would be terrible if you end up running Thing in the Ice), but my opponent was always happy to get the additional ETBs from Manic Scribe and Minister of Inquiries.

Hey etheraldreamer, Inexorable Tide is excellent, see where your going there. The reason I don't run it is simply its CMC 5, I'm hoping to already be setup with Mizzix of the Izmagnus around there. Longer term you'll get more value playing a Inexorable Tide.
Austin_Smith_of_Cards, excellent suggestions. Lava Spike + Desperate Ritual + Izzet Guildmage is an excellent kill combo. Adding it to my description above. The only part I don't like is that the Lava Spike, standalone it's not that great. Desperate Ritual although a little under powered, is still borderline playable card. Usually I prefer combos where each card is okay on it's own, but not always, see Pili-Pala.
Stroke of Genius has been on the cusp, for a long time. I keep questioning whether to get it in there or not. Visions of Beyond seems like the best remove for it, but I'm so low on Isochron Scepter targets as is. I've had 2 scenarios in 7 games now where i've had to wait 2 turns to pull an instant with CMC 2 or less for the Isochron Scepter so I know that I need more targets not less. Curious Homunculus Flip / Voracious Reader Flip is more likely.
I have Scour from Existence in my maybeboard, Purphoros, God of the Forge is a key reason why Scour from Existence is key. Chaos Warp for me just doesn't do it. In play testing I'm still trying to figure out if 1) Play for my infinite combo, or 2) Have control to stop other combos is the correct play. Thus far I haven't lost (yet, but been at 1 life). Can't remember all the commander's I've faced (No Prossh, Skyraider of Kher yet so that would be a real challenge). Some commanders: Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge, Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, Breya, Etherium Shaper (seems to be the flavor of the month right now), Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Kaalia of the Vast, Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, Karn, Silver Golem, The Gitrog Monster, can't remember any others. So verdict is till out on that. It's VERY good.
Fact or Fiction is funny, I just took it out of the deck Friday to test some other cards in it's place. I very much missed it in this weekend's games. Fact or Fiction returning to the deck soon as I figure out the removals. I'm considering removing the Isochron Scepter, that would change up a few cards that are simply there just to be targets, but then again when I think of an Isochron Scepter + Counterspell or Isochron Scepter + Mystical Tutor or Isochron Scepter + Cyclonic Rift... hmm, how do I not want that recursion, or a Visions of Beyond! = Draw 3 cards.
All Excellent suggestions, any or all should be in the deck. I'm still trying to figure out my fringe cards. Training Grounds maybe.

I've been back and forth on Firemind's Foresight, definitely need to get it in there.
Would a better way be to go Firemind's Foresight into Reiterate + Comet Storm + Mystical Tutor, then Mystical Tutor into Turnabout. Then Turnabout and Reiterate Buyback to make the infinite for Comet Storm. Saves me having to pull a Brain Freeze or Grapeshot which have only modest situational play value outside of this combo? What do you think? If Comet Storm is gone, an Epic Experiment could do the trick too I believe?
Condescend and Logic Knot I can see how they bolster the Experience counters. I worry that I won't have the mana to put into it to counter a spell that I really can't let resolve. Especially against green, or a blue mana ramping deck? Plus I don't like too much Counterspell, I find with 4 players I'm sitting waiting and tough to decide what to Counterspell.
Now the big question, what do I need to remove to get the Firemind's Foresight into the deck? Visions of Beyond maybe? Plea for Power? Voracious Reader Flip. I'm muddling my way into Izzet right now. Any suggestion is appreciated.
