I started playing EDH in 2011 and am an active participant in the Chicago EDH scene. Building unique decks and supporting the philosophy that "fun > winning" are important to me. As the format becomes more popular and decks become more powerful, I try to advocate for janky/weird/aesthetic/experimental styles. These decks are the most fun and interesting, but I fear they are slowly being edged out of many playgroups. Feel free to leave a message on my wall if you want to talk EDH philosophy or receive deck advice!

Just wondering, how do you do the custom backgrounds for your decks?

@ Wolfpig that is quite the compliment haha thank you!

@ alechodgin23 thank you for the kind words! Yes actually I have thought about the bloodrush cards. They are interesting because opponents may not bother to block a 2/2 Tana, then you bloodrush her after no blockers are declared and suddenly they're looking at a ton of damage. And there are very few cards that can counter bloodrush. I do prefer auras though, even if they telegraph what is going to happen, because the auras cause Tana to grow exponentially while instants/bloodrush are a more linear boost. Auras are also nice if I'm not able to finish everyone off on the same turn. Tana will retain her hugeness for next turn with an aura.

This is super cool!!! You might like these: Mantle of Leadership , Pollenbright Wings , Sigil of the Nayan Gods , Hope Against Hope , Heliod's Pilgrim (finds Squirrel Nest), Open the Armory , Fierce Empath (finds the Earl), Fungal Sprouting , Murder Investigation , Mercy Killing , Anointer Priest , Requiem Angel , Bramble Sovereign (interestingly, the Earl is not legendary, which means you can copy and populate it for multiple Earls!), Mimic Vat , Second Harvest , Parallel Evolution , Shared Summons .

I can think of more if you need :p Also I would take out Nantuko Shrine . I'd be surprised if you made even 1 squirrel with it.

Thank you Skillville! This deck is my baby so it got some extra styling treatment. Despite the unusual playstyle I'm actually able to nab a fair share of wins (probably 1 out of 4 games) with this deck. My friends no longer like receiving free creatures thanks to Super Hippo, they assume there's a plot behind it haha

Sure thing! I would take out Exsanguinate and Rise from the Grave

Ooo almost creatureless! I would actually swap out Clever Impersonator for Proteus Staff . With Proteus Staff and no creatures in deck, you can target your general.. then your general comes right back BUT the staff lets you rearrange your library in an order of your choosing! Not only that, but recycling your general like this allows you to cast an additional spell from grave.

You might like these too: Fabricate , Reshape , Merchant Scroll , Shred Memory , Mirror of Fate , Yawgmoth's Will , Bolas's Citadel , Aetherflux Reservoir , Decree of Pain .

Also a heads up, you can't retrieve exiled cards with Mastermind's Acquisition (exiled cards are still considered "in the game"). It's essentially a Diabolic Tutor in EDH, unless your friends are cool with you having a sideboard.

This is really cool! Looks like a solid list to me. Lands like Cinder Glade and Canopy Vista might be useful since they are forests but make a second color. Same with Breeding Pool , Stomping Ground , Overgrown Tomb , and Temple Garden , though they are pricey. These might interest you too: Eladamri's Call , Elvish Piper , Temur Ascendancy , Grozoth , Shared Summons

This is very rad! You might like these: Nivmagus Elemental , Cephalid Shrine , Spark Double , Distant Melody , Banishing Knack , Renegade Tactics , Sunforger , Arcbond , Radiate , Knowledge Pool (when played after Hive Mind, but before a lose-the-game spell, it protects you from the spell while your opps will still have copies. also has interesting interaction with Zada/Mirrorwing as the originally-casted spell will still be copied for each creature, and potentially the second spell as well), Possibility Storm (works like Knowledge Pool), Dovescape (works like Knowledge Pool), Snap (potential for infinite mana. what makes it really interesting is that it untaps lands, so you can keep storing counters on Magosi and skip your next 1,000,000 turns. Why is this a good thing? Teferi's Protection), Guile (with Cephalid Shrine and your general, this lets you make infinite spirits. not great, but definitely weird!), Kaho, Minamo Historian , Mistveil Plains , Spellbinder

I think Runed Stalactite would be fun here. Toss it on Worldspine so he becomes an egg, then sac him and potentially get him right back. With an altar and Runed Stalactite out you've got yourself infinite wurms and life! Amorphous Axe , Shields of Velis Vel , and Blades of Velis Vel work similarly to the stalactite though they are more restrictive.

You might like these too: Mana Echoes , Blasting Station , Meteor Golem

Ahem I believe you mean tutor , not touter. A touter is like the person who hangs out by the electronics section in Walmart and asks you what internet provider you use and then tries to sell you on theirs. Although you got me thinking we should start saying "toot'er", as in tootin' the ol' liberry. Yes, I am convinced. Toot'er up gud, yee haw!

Nice! Weird damage loops are fun. You might like these: Gideon's Sacrifice , Saving Grace , Frilled Deathspitter , Lapse of Certainty , Gratuitous Violence (with this, if Reckoner has indestructible, he can keep targetting himself and each time the damage multiplies by 2. then when the damage is high enough he can target an opponent to one-shot them), Angrath's Marauders , Dictate of the Twin Gods , Furnace of Rath , Quest for Pure Flame , Heartless Hidetsugu , Selfless Squire , Stonehewer Giant , Open the Armory , Heliod's Pilgrim

I see what you mean, though if something like Kederekt Parasite sticks around even for just 1 wheel effect, that's a lot of extra damage for 1 mana.

Personally I would take these out: Dissipation Field (nonbos with Spiteful Visions, doesn't advance your game), Nin the Pain Artist (slow, requires a lot of mana to be game-changing), Sphinx's Tutelage (only affects 1 opponent at a time), The Magic Mirror (slow, costs a lot of ), Niv-Mizzet Parun (high/difficult cost)
