I wanted to second Necropotence , great combo, as well as the classic Painter's Servant / Grindstone .

Darkblast is probably playable.

Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar + Zombie... goes infinite.

Putrid Goblin / Lesser Masticore + Metallic Mimic + Sacrifice... also goes infinite... maybe this and Gravecrawler could push you into a soft Zombie Tribal subtheme?

Have you considered Living Death or Twilight's Call ?

Lifeline or Champion of Stray Souls are similar to a Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker build.

Phyrexian Reclamation is a great way to access your graveyard.

You could go crazy and try the Lich cards or maybe Forbidden Crypt .

Geth, Lord of the Vault

You really need more draw and to that end try Thought Gorger / Geier Reach Sanitarium / Null Profusion / Harvester of Souls

I would remove most of your milling artifacts to make room for some of the above, more draw, more removal, and 4-5 board wipes ( Boompile and Oblivion Stone effects are a must in monoblack). You have strong combos with Syr Konrad and I would focus on drawing/ tutoring into those while you control the board a bit more. With more interaction it'll be less of a glass cannon and more fun to play with and against.

Cut Swamp to go to 38 lands, 39 is too much

Cut swamp for Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - Upgrade and goes with coffers and non-swamps

Cut swamp for Thespian's Stage - Copy coffers or any utility land like cradle, strip mine, etc...

Murderous Rider > Hero's Downfall

Hellfire is such an expensive card that hurts you, cut for something cheaper like Dead of Winter , Mutilate or Toxic Deluge .

How are you dealing with artifacts and enchantments? One Rest in Peace and you lose unless you make them proactively discard it which isn't always possible. Some suggestions of budget and nonbudget include....

Karn Liberated , Ugin, the Spirit Dragon , Ratchet Bomb , Lux Cannon , Nevinyrral's Disk , Oblivion Stone , Boompile , Ratchet Bomb , Perilous Vault , Blast Zone etc...

Ill-Gotten Gains seems like it can backfire a large portion of the time. What is the purpose of it, to put creatures in yards or general recursion? If you're looking for recursion of black cards, Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed can do the trick. General recursion can be down with Yawgmoth's Will . Artifact/Creature recursion can be done with Beacon of Unrest (not suggesting beacon, but just an idea to note).

IMO, the real reason I like Kukusho is for the lifegain. Getting 15 life allows you to get that much more card advantage. With ALL the ramp black has and all the card draw your commander provides, you should be able to win very easily. If your group knows you're going to cast repay in kind due to all your lifeloss, I wouldn't be surprised if it got countered or if they killed you prior to you being able to do so. Idk about your meta and the lvl of interaction but that's worth noting.

Thought Vessel > Charcoal Diamond - You already have enough black sources and the no max hand size is extremely useful for digging.

Reliquary Tower > Barren Moor - Utility > Looting. ESPECIALLY with necropotence, idk why it isn't in the deck already.

Again, Sol Ring , why isn't it in the deck?

You're also EXTREMELY vulnerable to artifacts and enchantments as you haven't slotted any removal for them. Some budget and non-budget options include....

Hey! I built a budget Black Rose deck and, you're right, it is hard to win! The throne mechanic can be really restrictive. I think it's important to remember Marchesa wants to be aggro. Flayer of the Hatebound is the closest you can get to combo (with Marchesa, burning people for 9 at each end step). So make an enemy... try to kill someone ASAP. Dethrone other players only if you have a way to nuke your life, on-demand +1/+1 counters, or board that can 1-2-shot someone.

You need more creatures. At least 28.

If you want to win consistently, I'd play more stax pieces like Sadistic Hypnotist , Oona's Blackguard , Noxious Toad , etc. Maybe even Specter tribal with the likes of Sedraxis Specter . You really want to slow your opponents down and secure your board; like how Boros aggro needs Armageddon .

Alternatively, run a suite of 6+ 1-2 cmc counterspells like Negate , Narset's Reversal , etc so you can defend your tempo.

Purphoros, God of the Forge wins games.

I would consider cutting...

Phyrexian Arena ... I'd rather draw more. < Slithermuse , Toothy, Imaginary Friend , etc.

Dark Prophecy ... Good card, but you're not making a lot of tokens. BBB is too restrictive for it to be worth it. < Smothering Abomination .

Black Market ... This belongs in a control deck with Exsanguinate , etc... and there are better ways of paying Marchesa's commander tax. < Revel in Riches .

Ugin, the Ineffable / Meteor Golem ... You want to avoid 5+ cmc single-target-removal. You don't have time to answer threats at the end of your curve. < Nevermaker , Boompile , Nevinyrral's Disk .

By Force ... you don't need this and Vandalblast .

Altar of Dementia ... any other engine on a stick is better.

I might add...

Plaguecrafter ... all-star.

Insurrection / Mob Rule ... wins.

Shifting Shadow ... great engine in Marchesa.

Breath of Fury ... extra combats will win.

Puppeteer Clique ... fun theft.

Grave Titan ... you might just need some pricey 1-card houses.

Curse of Stalked Prey ... ignore the Throne.

Trophy Mage ... tutor Ashnod's Altar , etc

Sidisi, Undead Vizier ... tutor.

Fleshwrither ... maybe?

Whip of Erebos ... to combo with "Pay life:" ...or some other life gain.

There's only one colorless card that is present in all 19 decks of mine, and it's not Sol Ring... it's Boompile .

As for colored spells, Enlightened Tutor is in all my white decks, Cyclonic Rift is in all my blue decks, Decree of Pain and Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor are in all my black decks, Stranglehold and Sunbird's Invocation are in all my red decks, and Song of the Dryads is in all my green decks.

As for multicolored cards, Ashiok, Dream Render is in all my decks playing blue and black and Assassin's Trophy is in all my decks playing black and green.

As for cards that aaaalmost made it, but was missing in one deck that could play it (but were in at least 3 decks), there were quite a few: Maze of Ith , Myriad Landscape , Strip Mine , Tolaria West , Gamble , Aven Mindcensor , Smothering Tithe , Weathered Wayfarer , Beast Within , Carpet of Flowers , Compost (currently being tested), and Sylvan Library .

You're playing enforcer: You need good Enforcer Cards. I'm not sure how often you're using your commander's ability (there seems to be a synergy in Dingus Egg ) which makes me super happy.

Here's some that come to mind (that aren't Cyclonic Rift-priced): Chandra's Ignition Blasphemous Act Slaughter the Strong , Tragic Arrogance and Boompile . The last one I've seen used to great effect similar to Oblivion Stone without having to hold up them mana or Nevinyrral's Disk / Slows the board down (or makes you the enemy, but you're playing Jokulhaups--you're not being nice).

Get rid of the Myr mana generators and put in Talismans ( Talisman of Conviction , Talisman of Creativity , and, if you want to spend a little, Talisman of Progress ). I say this because you're gonna kill creatures a lot with your sweepers. Talismans also have the added benefit of being 2-colored fixing and no summoning sickness. Solemn Simulacrum and Burnished Hart Should replace your other dorks (better value, don't care about sweeps.)

Now, What do Overpowered decks like to do: 1) Abuse triggers: Hushwing Gryff , and Torpor Orb are amazing because you have no ETB triggers on your creatures. 2) Abuse Specific Cards: This is a two parter. First, you can get rid of/hamper combo cards you know of with things like Extract or $ Meddling Mage or Pithing Needle / Sorcerous Spyglass -type effects. OR, you could go after their ability to actively find their answers with Stranglehold , Aven Mindcensor , or Mindlock Orb . The latter choice murders people with search lands... but your deck already does that in spades (Make it hurt worse with Thalia, Heretic Cathar ) 3) Use Crazy Manabases: Ruination , Price of Progress , Blood Moon , Magus of the Moon . Hates yourself pretty good, too, but that's what you wanted? Impending Disaster is a fun play 4) Graveyards: If you can't afford Rest in Peace , The next best things are Grafdigger's Cage and Silent Gravestone are the best IMO.

FINALLY; You need more draw. Budget Wheel of Fortune , Wheel of Fate is good, Windfall is an Auto-include. Mystic Remora is a gamble, but not bad. What I think would be great in this deck is Zedruu the Greathearted . Give away your things that hurt everyone, because It (usually) doesn't matter who controls them. Coercive Portal is also nice in a big game like you're gonna play. Get some voting going!... That was an aside.. and kinda draw, kinda gross.

Saw your post on /r/edh. I've been tweaking a casual mono-black Belzenlok for a while now (...bascially Necrologia -on-a-commander into every version of Rise of the Dark Realms ).

Chainer's game plan should be something like... Ramp > Control > Reanimate.

Focus on filling and stealing from your opponents' graveyards and protecting Chainer.

Stax: Honestly, I would avoid hard stax. It encourages your opponents to hate you and escalate their power-level.

What this deck really needs is ramp: 38-40 lands and 12-16 cards like Bubbling Muck , Charcoal Diamond , Heartless Summoning , Burnished Hart , Coalition Relic , Revel in Riches , Black Market , Magus of the Coffers , Gauntlet of Power , Nirkana Revenant , etc. Also Phyrexian Tower .

I'd recommend Dark Deal and Ward of Bones as soft stax. The first fits right into your game plan and the second is pretty clutch vs. artifacts and enchantments.

Board wipes like Boompile , Nevinyrral's Disk , Coercive Portal , Perilous Vault are very necessary in mono-black because they are some of the only ways to deal with artifacts and enchantments.

...If you want to lean into stax... here's a list for evil people :)
