I built some decks to teach newbies into EDH. They are all proactive and able to establish a board, with clean ways to close out a game and enough answers to keep opponents at bay.

I'm really excited to try out Wyleth, Soul of Steel - it is a continuation of my Sram, Senior Voltronizer deck. I hope it works!

Protect your commander, ramp hard and draw cards: voltron is an uphill battle.

Hey! I saw your post asking for a deck help. I also have a Wyleth Voltron deck, and I prefer him over Ardenn+partner because of the card draw. I will give you some suggestions I run including some cards you might remove from your build to make your deck better.

  1. You run too many boardwipes. Just run the ones that hurt you the least:
  2. Citywide Bust, Deafening Clarion, Martial Coup and Wrath of God could instead be Divine Reckoning (can be used even when discarded), Single Combat, Winds of Rath and Promise of Loyalty. Notice that all these wipes keep your most valuable creature alive.
  3. Vandalblast and Heliod's Intervention can deal with your opponents' noncreature threats, while leaving yours alone. Take out Volcanic Fallout for them.
  4. Generous Gift is way more versatile than Disenchant, and still tutorable with Sunforger.

  5. Try to run more ramp. It pairs nicely with Wyleth's burst draw. (In my build, I always have more mana than my opponents running Green and more cards than my opponents running Blue.)

  6. Run all the untapped 2-mana ramp you can: Dowsing Dagger  , Knight of the White Orchid, Talisman of Conviction, Mind Stone, Everflowing Chalice, Prismatic Lens, Fractured Powerstone.
  7. Discounts pile up like crazy: Danitha Capashen, Paragon and Starnheim Courser work wonders. If your deck is heavy on one of the colors, Pearl Medallion or Ruby Medallion are also stellar.
  8. Smothering Tithe scales with how broken your opponents' decks are.
  9. As for cuts, Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients, Nahiri, Storm of Stone, The Wandering Emperor, Forging the Tyrite Sword, Simian Sling, Hyena Umbra, Imposing Visage, Explorer's Scope, Rogue's Gloves, Sword of Light and Shadow, Sword of Truth and Justice are what I recommend removing. The planeswalkers don't do much and are tough to protect in a Voltron deck; the tutor is slow; these 1-mana auras/equipments don't do enough; you don't need the Gloves because Wyleth draws enough cards; the Swords don't do much, and they prevent you from using Ardenn or your white permanents on your voltron'ed creature.

  10. Some finishers you might want to use: All That Glitters, Empyrial Armor, Empyrial Plate, Ethereal Armor, Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar, Two-Handed Axe.

  11. About your utility lands:

  12. Demolition Field, Tectonic Edge or Ghost Quarter gives a better impression of Encroaching Wastes.
  13. Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse could be swapped for Alpine Meadow and Sacred Peaks for better fixing (synergy with Knight of the White Orchid).
  14. Ancient Den, Great Furnace and Rustvale Bridge increase your artifact count for Nettlecyst and All That Glitters (beware Stony Silence and Collector Ouphe effects, though).
  15. Myriad Landscape is great for ramping when you have nothing else to do. Ash Barrens is fixing whenever needed.
  16. Boros Garrison can return your Kamigawa lands back to hand to use their abilities.
  17. Axgard Armory, Sejiri Shelter  , Cathedral of War, Buried Ruin, Hall of Heliod's Generosity, Hanweir Battlements  , Scavenger Grounds and Reliquary Tower are good utility lands overall.

Since your deck is a fast one, consider running lands that don't enter the battlefield tapped:

You might also want to run some utility lands:

Also, since speed is the name of the game for Voltron decks, consider those swaps in your ramp package:

If your budget allows, consider those swaps:

If you're willing to streamline your creatures to be all Samurai, these are some good picks:

Also, Mythos of Snapdax and Cleansing Nova stumble on your many artifacts. Consider those swaps:

Hello fellow Wyleth, Soul of Card Draw player!

I'm glad you got both Wyleth's and Aesi's precons for a good price. They are reeeeally explosive in gameplay with a few upgrades.

I play a lot of this bad boy, and I want to suggest some swaps below 3 USD for you to take it to a higher ground:

First of all, the ramp. I found out that 2 CMC, untapped ramp is the best for Wyleth. Since he draws so many cards, he can chain rocks and voltron pieces in the same turn, so his next turn is even more explosive than the last one. I almost always have more mana than the Green decks in my pod.

You should run boardwipes that hits your stuff the least:

Also, you can streamline your removal package. All of those are fetchable by Sunforger:

More/better auras and equipment:

Cheating equip costs:

If you really need to protect yourself against attacks, Ghostly Prison is a way better Palace Guard.

More utility lands:
