Introduction

This is a control lands matter deck that aims to police the overall aggrocentric meta through permissions, clones, removals, and politics and win through combo or attrition. This is my casual pet deck and labor of love which have a bunch of my pet cards like Dark Depths , The Scarab God , and Rite of Replication .

My playgroup usually consists of 3 to 4 players and our power level fits somewhere in between casual and 75%. We run enough interactions and boardwipes to keep the game as balanced as possible. We follow the official commander banlist and rules fully. The meta is pretty heavy on the aggro/midrange side including Samut, Voice of Dissent , Karlov of the Ghost Council , and Ezuri, Claw of Progress which can be challenging for control decks like this to keep up sometimes.

Strategy

There are several common type of starting hands that will dictate the direction of play:

• Permission and removal heavy hand will lean towards a draw-go politics direction while working to assemble an infinite combo to finish the game.

• Land and ramp heavy hand with cards like Bloom Tender will lean towards an early Tasigur direction to slowly gain card advantage throughout the course of the game

• Land recursion hand with cards like Crucible of Worlds and Life from the Loam leads to a direction towards abusing cards like Spitting Image and finishing the game with Walk the Aeons or Marit Lage token beatdown

Important Inclusions

The following are cards and engines that I have carefully included that helps with the overall winning gameplan:

• Crucible of Worlds / Ramunap Excavator / Exploration / Azusa, Lost but Seeking / Life from the Loam : Land recursion and the ability to play extra lands is a fundamental ramp engine that can enable a bunch of other combos (see Walk the Aeons , Spitting Image , and Constant Mists )

• The Scarab God / Clever Impersonator / Phantasmal Image / Phyrexian Metamorph / Sakashima the Impostor / Gilded Drake / Rite of Replication / Spitting Image / Bribery : The ability to clone or steal the best creatures from my opponents is key to keep them at bay and generate defensive advantage over everyone while I slowly build up my winning boardstate

• Sylvan Library / Sensei's Divining Top : Helps in decision making before activating Tasigur's ability

• Demonic Tutor , Vampiric Tutor , Mystical Tutor , Worldly Tutor , Crop Rotation , Dark Petition , and Hour of Promise : These tutors make the deck more consistent and gives me the agility to adapt to the dynamic situations in a typical multiplayer EDH game

• Alchemist's Refuge : The ability to play anything at instant speed opens up multiple lines of play not possible with sorcery speed spells (open mana with possibility of instant speed boardwipe or clone is terrifying and stressful to deal with)

• Thought Vessel / Reliquary Tower : With a draw-go approach, it is easy to accumulate a sizeable handsize. An infinite handsize most importantly makes Necropotence silly :)

• Regrowth / Seasons Past : Selective recursion is important when Tasigur's ability doesn't get you the cards you need in the yard

• Chromatic Lantern / Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth : Turns colorless lands like Reliquary Tower , pain lands like Ancient Tomb , and land that doesn't tap for mana like Maze of Ith / Windswept Heath into mana lands

• Argothian Elder / Birds of Paradise / Bloom Tender / Krosan Restorer / Chromatic Lantern / Sol Ring / Thought Vessel : To reduce the amount of nonimpactful spells in the yard for Tasigur's ability, all ramp (other than Hour of Promise which is used to get my Marit Lage finisher) are either rocks or dorks. The dorks can double up as chump blockers when my life is running low and also infinite mana combo finishers with Pemmin's Aura later in the game

Win Conditions

Banana Ball

a. Generate infinite mana via Argothian Elder / Krosan Restorer (on threshold)/ Bloom Tender + Pemmin's Aura or Argothian Elder + Maze of Ith to generate infinite mana during the attack step with Tasigur, the Golden Fang in play or Crop Rotation / Alchemist's Refuge

b. Activate Tasigur, the Golden Fang 's ability infinite times (will end up having every nonland cards in your hand to cast anything infinite times) and start the library exile combo chain by first Beast Within to generate a beast token if none of your opponents have a creature in play. Reality Shift infinite times to manifest (exile) everyone's library

Marit Lage

a. Thespian's Stage / Mirage Mirror + Dark Depths

b. Generate a 20/20 flying indestructible Marit Lage token as a finisher

Infinite Turns

a. Walk the Aeons + Crucible of Worlds / Ramunap Excavator + Azusa, Lost but Seeking + three Island

b. Cast Walk the Aeons to take an extra turn while sacrificing three Island for the buyback cost

c. Play the three Island that was sacrificed

d. Rinse and repeat

or a mana intensive way:

a. Walk the Aeons + Seasons Past + Demonic Tutor / Mystical Tutor / Dark Petition

b. Start by casting Walk the Aeons for an extra turn and tutor for Seasons Past

c. During the extra turn, cast Seasons Past to get both Walk the Aeons and the tutor back

d. Rinse and repeat ad nauseaum

Other Win Conditions (To be considered)

• Blightsteel Colossus for lethal infect kill

• Palinchron + Phantasmal Image for infinite mana

• Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter for infinite mana

• Omniscience + Seasons Past + Demonic Tutor for infinite SP loop usually ending with Aetherflux Reservoir

Footnotes

Tasigur is a versatile and adaptable commander that has different ways to build around him be it reanimator, land-matters, control, or combo. A common way of winning the game is through infinite mana, however my build is totally capable of winning through generating clones and tokens of the most powerful creatures on the board multiple times.
