Maybeboard

Do you like playing powerful cards? Do you like cheating those cards into play? Do you like ensuring you can't die? Do you like the color Blue? Are you ready to create the hardest lock possible and still continue to make devastating plays? Then buckle in!!!

Our brilliant leader, Narset, Master Cheater, makes this deck go off fairly consistently.

First and foremost you want to get our fearless leader into play as soon as possible and preferable with haste. Don't be afraid to use Enlightened Tutor early to get a mana piece or haste enabler such as:

Other haste enablers that Enlightened Tutor can't fetch are:

After getting Narset into play your goal is to cheat in the Epic cards with priority as:

  1. Enduring Ideal - Critical for setting up Stacks pieces
  2. Eternal Dominion - Can still win the game but far less likely

Try to copy these as many times as possible with our numerous copy spell cards:

We have a few ways of setting up your best possible Narset trigger:

  1. Proteus Staff - Best deck organizer! Target Narset -> See whole deck -> Put Narset back into play -> Organize deck
  2. Jace, the Mind Sculptor - Repeatable Brainstorm effects. What's not to love? (Also, bounce pesky creatures.)
  3. Scroll Rack - Great for getting cards we want to cheat into play out of our hand.
  4. Sensei's Divining Top - Best used to setup draws and keep lands out of our Narset stack.
  5. Enlightened Tutor - Why not put Swarm Intelligence or Possibility Storm at the top of Narset's stack at instant speed? (Note: Possibility Storm doesn't affect Narset casts as they aren't from your hand and any card is tutorable if Mycosynth Lattice is in play.)
  6. Mystical Tutor - Best use to stack Enduring Ideal, but you do you Boo-Boo!
  7. Personal Tutor - Also stacks Enduring Ideal, but at sorcery speed unfortunately.

Now that you have preferably 2 or more Enduring Ideal effects resolving each turn go ahead and start tutoring lock cards. Here are a few combo lock pieces to ensure your win.

Lastly, when the lock is on you can go for the win. This will be harder with Humility in play, but not impossible. Win conditions are as follows:

  • Solemnity & Dark Depths - Although not tutorable with Enduring Ideal, Dark Depths can still be played as Epic doesn't turn off playing lands. You can tutor it up with Tolaria West if need be. This win con can easily be hit without ever going Epic as well.
  • Enchanted Evening & Opalescence - Works best if you have more permanents, but it can still win.
  • Luminarch Ascension - Once the board is locked why not get through with a bunch of 4/4 fliers. Results may very.
  • Island Sanctuary - Much more boring and tedious. With a perfect lock in effect that they can't do anything you mill them by letting them draw you stop pulling cards from your library. Just like any other tutor effect you can fail to find and never pull anything from your deck keeping it at a set size while your opponents slowly pull every card from their deck futilely looking for an answer. This may make all players involved never want to see this deck again, including you.

A few extra turn cards are in here to help get you to that win in the same "turn" before opponents get a chance to do anything. With all the copy spells it really can't hurt.

The deck is brutally fun to pilot, but not more than a game or 2 at a time. It is most fun against a table that hasn't seen it before and doesn't expect the Epics.

Always open to suggestions and input.
