"Friends make the worst enemies". Exploring the idea of a 'political' mono black deck. Granting and removing favour while pursuing its own agenda.

Runs political cards like Do or Die and Temporal Extortion alongside a mono control creature suite and steal effects like Reanimate.

Horobi sits in the command zone, with the potential to be played like a sorcery, disrupting Voltron and counter decks.

Horobi, Death's Wail: Relatively cheap cmc and decent body. Shuts down Voltron and counters decks and makes opponents creatures exceptionally more fragile.

Grave Pact\Dictate of Erebos:when a creature we control dies, the whole group has to sacrifice a creature. Synergises nicely with Shriekmaw, Bone Shredder.

No Mercy: Dread without a body. Strongly discourages people swinging for us.

Phyrexian Arena\Necropotence: card draw engines

Dauthi Embrace: without Horobi, a political card or a creature enabler. With Horobi, repeatable , Murder.

Lethal Vapors\Spreading Plague: we don't mind if our creatures die. Political cards

Wound Reflection: once it's in play, potential game ender

Polluted Bonds: lifegain and damage

Ambition's Cost\Ancient Craving. People suggested these as better card draw over Night's Whisper\Sign in Blood\Read the Bones which I was originally running.

Demonic Tutor\Vampiric Tutor\Liliana Vess: tutors

Beacon of Unrest\Reanimate: steal opponents creatures, bring back our own.

In Garruk's Wake: hits planeswalkers we don't control as well as creatures.

Toxic Deluge: life is something we are happy to pay.

Mutilate: cheap effect for mono

Exsanguinate: life gain that hits all opponents fuelled by our hefty mana production.

Do or Die: politics and removal. Can combo with Karn, Silver Golem if we make their artifacts creatures.

Cannibalize: flavour to die for. Without Horobi exiles so useful against graveyard decks or creatures with recursion. With Horobi out it's 2 x Murder.

Head Games. Shuts down combo decks.

Syphon Mind: value in multi-player.

Contagion: With Horobi, -1 life and exile a card to Murder 2x creatures.

Slaughter: 4 life is cheap recursion for a Doom Blade. Only hits non-black.

Tendrils of Corruption: swamps matter + lifegain.

Malicious Affliction: Doom Blade with the potential to hit two targets.

Snuff Out: a Doom Blade we can pay for with life

Devour in Shadow: kills anything. For life.

Moonlight Bargain: card draw and filtering.

Temporal Extortion: who's going to pay it? Nice political effect with upside.

Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief. On her own an evasive, mana sink beater with a targeted effect. With Horobi a Murder.

Dread: no mercy on a body. Can be shuffled back into the deck for tutoring

Erebos, God of the Dead: shuts down lifegain and offers card draw on a potentially indestructible body. Devotion not an issue with the number of enchantments we're running.

Fleshbag Marauder\Merciless Executioner: universal sac effects in Orc and Zombie flavours.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel: loves devotion. Lifegain swings.

Havoc Demon\Reiver Demon: wraths on sticks

Karn, Silver Golem: black can't deal with artifacts? Make them creatures.

Kokusho, the Evening Star: massive life swings.

Massacre Wurm: ETB token wrath and then abuses sac effects.

Mogis's Marauder: At worst a chump body to trigger Grave Pact that gives any creatures we have intimidate and haste. At best, with Horobi out a wrath equal to our devotion.

Shambling Swarm. Without Horobi it's got the potential to hose 3 x tokens or a single 3:3. With Horobi in play its 3 x Murder.

Shriekmaw\Bone Shredder: doom blades on sticks.

Withered Wretch: devotional graveyard hater. Particularly for mono mirrors.

Liliana of the Dark Realms: helps swamps matter. Potential Murder effect off Horobi.
