Cool deck! I love the concept and some of the more niche cards here.

Mogg Salvage is a slam dunk here. Free spells in general will enable you to tap out for Jeremy Renner more often and still be able to use him in a pinch. Maybe Snuff Out and Thunderclap are worth considering too. I'm not sure I'd go as far as Gut Shot and Pyrokinesis but you could think about it. Corpse Dance and Slaughter give you as many Tor triggers as you can pay for with the buyback. You Are Already Dead can be like a one-time Bladebrand and it cantrips which I feel like is pretty important for your deck. On that note, you might want some more card draw

I always felt that Slaughter was an underplayed card in EDH, as 4 life to buy it back is a lot less intimidating when you're starting with a whole 40. Dregs of Sorrow is big and clunky, but in a format this slow, it could very well be worthwhile in the lategame.

If you're going for such a graveyard-heavy strategy, though, there's really no bigger recommendation I can make then Tortured Existence! Being able to swap out any creature for whatever you need from a well-stocked graveyard is the closest you can come to Recurring Nightmare in the format. Likewise, Apprentice Necromancer, Doomed Necromancer and Undead Gladiator should have no trouble finding homes in such a build. You might also consider Ashen Powder as a budget way to lift some powerful fatty from your opponent's graveyard if you're at risk of accidentally reanimating it as collateral with Balthor.

king-saproling Thanks for your feedback! I really like the idea of adding Slaughter in (that buyback would make it a great constant) as well as Black Market , Corpse Churn (in case Ghast gets nixed early on and I need the mana), and definitely Deserted Temple !

I looked over the others and some of them focus more on graveyard recursion of creatures in my own field (which I don't have that many). I do like the ones that pull from others' graveyards, but I'm wondering if it is better to keep Rise of the Dark Realms at 9 cmc in there versus Grave Betrayal at 7 cmc and an instant +1/+1 counter upgrade. Do you have any thoughts on that?

I'd like to try and keep this more of a budget build and have 86'd some of the crazy cards in it like Mana Crypt and such.

That Imps' Taunt is interesting, but I don't think I would need that kind of controlling feature atm. Maybe I'm wrong though! The MTG gods will tell all when I need it and wish I had it ;)

Updated the lists and brought the price down below $400. I also think it is interesting how it shows the mana curve for these cards. Many of the effects of the 4cmcs can be replaced with paying life or are less just from being a mono black deck.

Hey, nice deck, I like the idea, madness is tricky I think, I love the idea of having all of the synergies but I’d pick a main one and stream line the others to help you decide what to remove.

I thi The suggestions I would make for the list as is are:

Cut Pawn of Ulamog and add in Pitiless Plunderer

Pros. It’s treasure tokens so much better for mana fixing as adds one of any colour, not colourless. It’s whenever another creature dies, not non-token creature. Which can also be very beneficial.

Cons. It’s 1 mana more expensive. It’s not a vampire...

I think you could cut down on the removal as you’re running a lot of it, maybe adding in Attrition would be good because it’s constant. Slaughter could be cut as could Unfulfilled Desires If you could budget for it Dream Halls could be very good, because it’s a madness outlet that lets you cast another spell too.

Swap Kalastria Highborn for Blood Artist too, You don’t have to pay to activate it and it’s easier to cast.

Slaughter could be interesting since it not only triggers Toshiro, but it has buyback so you can recur it indefinitely (even if you cast it using Toshiro's ability). Imps' Taunt works in a similar way and is an interesting form of disruption for mono-black.

Looks pretty good. I think you should definitely find room for Vizkopa Guildmage . You can activate her second ability multiple times (even in response to the first lifegain trigger), resulting in huge drains for every life gained during the turn!
