The goal of this deck is to ramp into The Prismatic Bridge   as soon as possible in order to set up a loop of infinite turns by recuring Rune-Scarred Demon 's ETB trigger via The Prismatic Bridge   's upkeep trigger while using Tel-Jilad Stylus on the Demon to search for and cast an extra-turn spell each turn, ultimately Nexus of Fate, in order to get infinite turns...

Ideally, once The Prismatic Bridge   's ability triggers, your opponents will never get another turn. Which means, that once The Bridge is in play, your opponents will only have 1 turn each to stop it from triggering, or they lose. The sooner The Bridge is able to trigger, the less chances opponents will have to find some disruption. Usually The Bridge can trigger by turns 4 or 5, and sometimes earlier. Therefore opponents will only have a few turns to find disruption. Also, there's ultimately only one turn-cycle that you really need to worry about, which is the turn-cycle after The Bridge has been cast and it's just sitting on the battlefield waiting to trigger... So basically ramp into the bridge as fast as possible and conterspell things...

Also, you will eventually need access to 7 mana total (including {U}{U})in order to play Nexus of Fate by the time you have cast the other two extra-turn spells. Otherwise, you risk giving your opponents more turns and thus more chances to disrupt.

There are a couple back up plans if the main strategy gets disrupted. Optimal and sub-optimal scenarios are elaborated upon further in the spoiler menus below.

Sphinx, Demon, and Stylus Show

This is the main strategy of the deck.

Once The Prismatic Bridge   triggers, either Rune-Scarred Demon or Sphinx of the Second Sun will be revealed and then enter the battlefield. Ideally when this happens and in order to immediately start taking infinite turns, you will have access to at least six mana including {U} {U} {W} in order to cast Ephemerate and either Time Warp or Temporal Manipulation. Ultimately you will need access to 7 mana in order to cast Nexus of Fate each turn.

Once The Bridge triggers:

If Rune-Scarred Demon is Revealed First

1 - Rune-Scarred Demon will enter the battlefield and it's ETB ability will trigger. Search library for Ephemerate, and cast it targeting the Demon, which will then create another ETB trigger.

2 - With the Second ETB trigger, search library for Time Warp or Temporal Manipulation if you have the mana to cast them, then cast the spell to get an extra turn, then proceed to step 3. Otherwise, search for a good counterspell, pass the turn and let opponents have another turn-cycle. Prodeed to step 3.

3 - During the next turn's upkeep, The Bridge will trigger again and reveal Sphinx of the Second Sun putting it onto the battlefield. Also, Ephemerate will rebound. Target the Demon again with Ephemerate to get another ETB trigger and search for Tel-Jilad Stylus.

4 - Play the stylus and activate it targeting the Demon, which will go to the bottom of the library. Move to the second main phase.

5 - Moving to the second main phase will trigger Sphinx of the Second Sun's ability creating an additional beginning phase. Untap all permanents and begin the second upkeep. This will trigger The Bridge again, which will reveal and put into play the Demon that was just put on the bottom of the library with the Stylus.

6 - With the Demon's ETB ability, search for the other 5 mana-value extra-turn spell, or if you have 7 mana, search for Nexus of Fate and play it. Take an extra turn.

7 - BEFORE the turn ends, target the Demon with the Stylus again, putting it on the bottom of the library to be revealed by The Bridge again next turn which will trigger the Demon's ETb ability again.

8 - Continue targeting the Demon with the Stylus during each of your main phases. This way, you can tutor for and play Nexus of Fate each turn and take infinite turns. With a second beginning phase each turn from the Sphinx, you get to tutor for two cards a turn as well as draw two cards a turn, Attack each turn to win.

If Sphinx of the Second Sun is revealed first:

1 - During the first main phase, cast anything you like.

2 - Move to the second main phase. This will trigger the Sphinx's ability and create an additional beginning phase.

3 - The Bridge will trigger during the additional upkeep and reveal the Demon, putting it into play and triggering it's ETB effect.

4a - If you have access to six mana, including {W}{U}{U}, search for Ephemerate and cast it targeting the Demon creating another ETB trigger. Search for and cast a 5 mana-value extra-turn spell. Take an extra turn. Proceed to step 5a.

4b - If you don't have accesss to the six mana, but have at least {W}, you can search for Ephemerate with the Demon's ETB trigger. You can pass turn and keep Ephemerate as protection for the Demon to flicker it, and/or to get a counterspell. You should cast Ephemerate before your next turn either way so that you can search for a card before your next turn, and then search again during your upkeep off the rebound. You will need to get Tel-Jilad Stylus with one of the two searches. Proceed to step 5a.

4c - If you don't have access to any of that mana, you must search for Tel-Jilad Stylus, and then cast it, in order to proceed. At this point, it might have been better to wait to cast The Bridge until you had access to the right mana... But you can still use the Stylus to protect the Demon from removal. Proceed to step 5b.

5a - At your next upkeep, the Bridge's trigger won't do anything since both the creatures are on the battlefield. Ephemerate will rebound. Target the Demon and search for the Stylus if you haven't yet. Proceed to step

5b - During the next upkeep, the Bridge's trigger will not do anything, as the only two creatures are now on the battlefield. Ephemerate will rebound. Target the Demon with Ephemerate again and search for anything you want or need. Proceed to step 6.

The next steps are the same as steps 4-9 as described for the Demon being revealed first

6 - Play and activate the Stylus targeting the Demon which go to the bottom of the library. Move to the post-combat main phase.

7 - Moving to the post-combat main phase will trigger Sphinx of the Second Sun's ability creating an additional beginning phase. Untap all permanents and begin the second upkeep. This will trigger The Bridge again, which will reveal and put into play the Demon that was just put on the bottom of the library.

8 - With the Demon's ETB ability, search for the other extra-turn spell, or if you have 7 mana, search for Nexus of Fate and play it. Take an extra turn.

9 - BEFORE the turn ends, target the Demon with the Stylus again (which untapped during the second beginning phase), putting it on the bottom of the library to be revealed by the bridge next turn again as it will be the only creature in the library.

11 - Continue targeting the Demon with the Stylus during each of your main phases. This way, you can tutor for and play Nexus of Fate each turn and take infinite turns. With a second beginning phase each turn from the Sphinx, you get to tutor for two cards a turn. Remember to draw a card during each additional draw phase. Attack with the Sphinx each turn to win.

Additional Notes:

It's usually easy to get access to the required {U} {U} {W} mana in time with all the mana rocks and the mana base. However, if you won't have access to the required mana during your turn, it may be better to wait, and cast The Bridge when you know that you will have the mana... Otherwise, you will not be able to start getting extra turns immediately, which gives opponents more turns, and more chances to interact.

The Sphnix's ability almost reads "take an extra turn each turn". If the Sphinx gets revealed off the Bridge first, the Demon will still be revealed the same turn during the additional upkeep, so it's basically like just revealing the Demon anyways, but with extra mana... The Sphinx lets you tutor that extra time to set up and get infinite turn. Ultimately it makes the deck a lot stronger, more resilient, and consistant.

Endless Evil can mimic the Stylus Bridge loop if attached to the Demon. This doesn't require the Bridge or Stylus to work, but it is more vulnerable to interaction...

Attach Endless Evil to the Sphinx to get exponential Sphinxes and beginning phases each turn. (Use the Stylus to get rid of Sphinxes so you don't deck yourself...)

You MUST tutor for the Stylus (or Endless Evil), either with the second Demon ETB trigger when Ephemerate rebounds, or just if you can't cast Ephemerate. Otherwise, you will not be able to tutor for them again so easily, and you won't be able to recur the Demon's ETB trigger and tutor for Nexus of Fate every turn. You will just be stuck top-decking and hoping to draw into the Stylus or Endless Evil, while your opponents get to take their regular old turns.

When Things Go Wrong Show

This deck is very much a glass cannon, It could be easily shut-down with the right kind of disruption and timing. It's strength lies in quickly ramping to get the Bridge in play ASAP, thus giving opponents fewer chances to have interaction. Having counter magic in hand is ideal since it relies so heavily on just a few cards, and it need things to work out pretty specifically.

If Endless Evil enchants card:Rune-Scared Demon, this will mimic the effect of the Stylus. If it enchants Sphinx of the Second Sun, although isn't an auto win, can draw you tons of cards and give you tons of mana and creatures, which if un-checked for a few turns, can definitely become a win condition.

If either of the creatures ends up in the graveyard, Timetwister is really the only way to get them back. It can also fill-up and/or reset your hand.

Having either of the two creatures in your hand can be a problem, especially if you don't have enough mana to cast them. Timetwister and Brainstorm can put them back into the library.

If the cards Nexus of Fate, or Rune-Scarred Demon, become exiled or otherwise unavailable, and/or Endless Evil and Tel-Jilad Stylus can't be used, there probably isn't any good way to win...

Other Card Options Show

I tried including other variations of cards which could aid in the overall strategy of the deck. While it seemed like a good idea to have more ways of recurring the Demon's ETB trigger, many of these other cards were a little too clunky and slow. Currently, the Stylus is the best way to recur the Demon, with Endless Evil being the only other way. Even though the deck might be more vulnerable depending just these options, by not including other less efficient cards the deck is simplified, faster, and more consistent.

A little more permanent removal might be good to fit in somewhere...

Progenitor Mimic

Originally, Progenitor Mimic was included in order to copy the Demon each turn. It could come into play via The Bridge, and served as a stronger alternative to using the Stylus. However, it was a little clunky, since if the Demon wasn't in play already, the Mimic would have to enter as another creature, in which case you would need Ephemerate or the Stylus to reset it once the Demon was in play. If there were no creatures in play at all, the Mimic would enter as a 0/0 and die. All that said, if the Mimic was able to copy the Demon, it was great. If it had to copy another creature, it was kind of a wiff, and would let opponents get turns. If there were no creatures, it was a total wiff and the loss of a combo piece. So ultimately it needed to be replaced somehow.

Bringer of the Black Dawn

Bringer of the Black Dawn seemed like a good option, as it basically achieved the ultimate goal of being able to tutor for and cast Nexus of Fate every turn, which is very cool.

However, the Bringer tutors a card to the top of the library, not to hand. Not only do you miss regular draws like this, but more importantly, if it would come into play off The Bridge without the Sphinx in play already, it could tutor for an extra-turn spell, but you would have to wait another whole turn cycle to draw the tutored card, giving opponents another turn and the chance to interact. So, same as the Mimic, it still had the possibility of wiffing.

Other Copy and Flicker Effects

Followed Footsteps and Extravagant Replication are more expensive versions of Endless Evil. Extravagant Replication is a little more versatile, but still just too expensive.

card:Conjuror's Closet and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling can flicker the Demon to get ETB triggers but they're a little expensive, and they trigger at end of turn so you don't have the chance to cast any non-instant spells you may want to tutor for. Thassa also will come into play off the Bridge, which like Progenitor Mimic can lead to wiffs...

Other cards like Flicker are just not as good as Ephemerate, that rebound is insane.

Ephemerate is crucial to the deck, as it creates two Demon triggers, allowing you to search for both an extra-turn spell, and then the Stylus before opponent's get another turn. It's the cheapest and most powerful of the cards like it, and the others are not really worth including.

Rainbow Rocks Show

Rainbow Rocks is what I call this kind of mana and ramp base. The pain lands could be replaced with old dual lands if you have them or proxy, but those plus the shock lands and the multi-color lands makes up the mana base. The rocks include all the signets and talismans, plus the relevant moxen, arcane signet, and fellwar stone if you want.
