What do you typically do to ensure a win? Like what 3 are buried alive and things like that.

You either bury kiki, karmic, and zealous/felidar. Or you play splinter zealous, or you pod into kiki zealous using commanders. Bellringer gets there too using kiki or twin.

Figured, thanks! The deck looks solid.

What is Marchesa's main function? Is it for the extra card with Monarch?

March 20, 2017 6:29 p.m.

She can fuel contamination and she's extra card draw and a great beater.

Sleeved up a slightly different version and tested it out today. Two cards that really shined included Yisan(who won me a few games) and surprisingly a Hope of Ghirapur. It saved me on a few occasions and allowed me to shift a surprising amount of leverage. Really love the deck!

Could this deck be viable even without Gaea's Cradle, with Nykthos as a budget option, or Cradle is a fundamental card to play around our own stax pieces e.g. Winter Orb, Blood Moon?

September 1, 2017 8:17 p.m.

You can def play this deck without cradle.

September 1, 2017 10:29 p.m.

Yes. Tried It few times and performs well even without Cradle.Watching at competitive meta, I see a lot of powerful decks, but I think they are one-way-to-win. I mean they have One combo and use the other cards to protect It. I fear to get bored really fast with these kind of decks. A piles of doomsday and a bunch of counters again, and again...Maybe it's just my impression. What I really like about Tana/Tymna is the power to control the degeneration of fast shot combos, but at the same time, hit hard and combo off.

September 3, 2017 8:24 p.m.

That is certainly the appeal of stax and control in general I feel. The good thing about this deck is that it doesn't have to make the game super Grindy, you can disrupt plans and then just search for your outs.

September 4, 2017 1:38 p.m.

This list perform very well even in a 1vs1 (+1 for me!)...But I'm thinking about other ways to discard cards. e.g. If i play against a Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon player, I will found myself with a lot of dead cards: Choke, Contamination, Carpet of Flowers. Maybe i've presented the worst scenario, but you know... it's a possible scenario. Have you considered to run Torpor Orb or Hushwing Gryff to turn off the nasty interactions of Pestermite and similar with your Winter Orb? End of your turn. Opponent casts Pestermite and tap Winter Orb. He untaps all of his lands. Aaaand most important question: How do you make the way to Tana, the Bloodsower to dealt damage to the opponent? Yes, Fire Covenant is a blast, but i'm also thinking to Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist.

September 4, 2017 4:21 p.m.

I mean ultimately the stax package will have to be tuned to your meta this is just a generalist list to start with. Because of the nature of stax most of your deck is flex if choke and stuff doesn't work for you I would replace them with armageddon hushwing can stop your win cons so that's kinda dicey as far as getting tana to do her job elesh is the absolute best at doing that.

D'oh, I forgot we are Kiki-combo...
