This is the second iteration of Muldrotha Clone Storm for cEDH, the first of which can be found here:

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/into-darkness-muldrotha-cedh-v1/

Muldrotha cEDH V.2, is about revolving around Iso-Reversal storm loops and/or Clone Loops from out of the graveyard by cloning Muldrotha over and over. This is a massive shift in direction from version 1, which was mainly about Paradox Engine storm loops.

I.e., Muldrotha Clone Storm.

Ad Nauseam accelerates this game plan by having cards to play and cards to pitch to Skirge Familiar.

The core of the deck is as follows...

============================

CHANGES FROM V.1:

  1. Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal, instead of Paradox Engine + Strionic Resonator.

  2. Walking Ballista, as opposed to Aetherflux Reservoir.

  3. Rituals instead of "free spells" that are high in CMC for the Ad Nauseam turn.

  4. Peregrine Drake and Cloud of Faeries are gone. Dark Ritual and Cabal Ritual are now in.

================================

CARRIED OVER FROM V.1:

A. Skirge Familiar for mana, post Ad Nauseam.

B. Reanimation and sac outlets to act as pseudo flickers for Muldrotha.

C. Free counters and other cheap interaction.

===============================

Primary Combos:

  1. Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter . This generates infinite mana.

  2. Animate Dead + Muldrotha, the Gravetide + Phantasmal Image + Lion's Eye Diamond = infinite mana, infinite storm, and infinite gravestorm. For this interaction, Muldrotha must be in the yard, starting out, or on the field with Image in hand and the other cards readily accessible.

  3. Lion's Eye Diamond + Mirror Image + Phantasmal Image = infinite mana and storm count. This initially generates infinite blue which then can be filtered into infinite BUG. For this to work, Muldrotha must have been cloned first by either of the two clone cards.

================================

WINCONS:

From infinite mana, this deck can win via either Walking Ballista, or decking out via Laboratory Maniac.

To win via Lab Man, Altar of Dementia or Greater Good is needed as a way to sacrifice Muldrotha over and over again.

Incidentally, if Lab Man and Ballista are gone, you can also use this strat to deck your opponents as well.

===============================

The deck also features Intuition lines as a way to speed up the process.

A. Ad Nauseam + Eternal Witness + Snapcaster Mage = Access to Ad Nauseam

B. Sidisi, Undead Vizier + Demonic Tutor + Animate Dead = On Demand Tutor.

C. Force of Will + Pact of Negation + Swan Song = Guaranteed Counterspell.

These are just a couple of examples. There's more than just that.

==============================

AD NAUSEAM BACKUP:

As a backup to the Ad Nauseam plan (in case Ad Nauseam isn't available), the deck also runs Hermit Druid, in a controlled manner, to accelerate the graveyard. Since the graveyard is effectively a second hand to this deck, the deck can make use of this with the aid of 6 basics in the deck (3 snow basics and 3 regular basics.) Running this configuration also insulates the deck, to a degree from Blood Moon.

==============================

Weakness of the deck:

As this is a graveyard/storm hybrid deck, Stax pieces to that end causes problems.

This includes, but isn't limited to...

Grafdigger's Cage

Leyline of the Void / Nether Void

Arcane Laboratory / Rule of Law

Dryad Militant

Anafenza, the Foremost

Blood Moon

Null Rod / Stony Silence

Etc., Etc.

We do not let these cards resolve, where possible. Otherwise we destroy them quickly.

==============================

Notable Exclusion...

Yawgmoth's Will. Another great storm card, however, Muldrotha already acts like a pseudo Yawgmoth's Will. No real need for it, but that could change over time.

As an Ad Nauseam Fishbowl Pilot, I can attest to the power of "Yawgie Doggie". It's STUUUPPPPIIIDDDD good. :P

==============================

More to follow. Stay tuned...
