Aquamoeba Discussion

Flicker or blink effects can work very well to defend Bruna too. eg:

Aquamoeba can help you discard all your auras so you can equip them for free. So can Cephalid Inkshrouder.

If you want to discard and gain something in return (you greedy git) you have things like these:

These are but mere suggestions for stuff you may want to consider!

Oh snap. You're right about Taurean Mauler. That sucks. I like Aquamoeba in general because it's a free, low-cmc discard outlet. But I suppose Cephalid Inkshrouder achieves that as well!

Paeldroth: Thanks! Glad I could help with the budget section.

Of those creatures, the only one I'd potentially run is Tectonic Giant. The issue is that you want low-CMC, or a bit more... punch than something like Aquamoeba grants. Also, Taurean Mauler is a human, so it can't be mutated onto :(

Some other creatures I've tinkered with: Wake Thrasher, Cephalid Inkshrouder, Dragonlord Ojutai, Adanto Vanguard...

Daedalus19876 I appreciate the addition of the budget section! As suggested, I'm going to look into Consecrated Sphinx. Thoughts on the following critters for mutations? Pristine Skywise, Tectonic Giant, Treasonous Ogre, Taurean Mauler, Aquamoeba, Zetalpa, Primal Dawn?

Maybe some simple free discard outlets to let you churn through your deck rather easily. when you put Curiosity on Brallin, Skyshark Rider, damage the whole table enough times for a win but if not draw your whole deck. Cards like Aquamoeba, Dream Trawler, Land's Edge, Mind Over Matter, Patrol Hound, Prognostic Sphinx, Resilient Wanderer, Thalakos Drifters, Tireless Tribe, Trained Pronghorn, and Patchwork Gnomes all work. Your choice

Just a quick comment on the Library of Leng bit. Things like Aquamoeba don't work with Library of Leng. LoL (;-)) says that the discard has to be part of the effect. With Aquamoeba the discard is part of the cost, and therefore you cannot discard to the top of your library.

It's the same with Cycling, for instance.

Oracle: You can’t use the Library of Leng ability to place a discarded card on top of your library when you discard a card as a cost, because costs aren’t effects.

Thanks for the nice words and feedback! I'm honestly not sure what's up with Circular Logic . I tried changing the printing but it still shows as an illegal card despite it definitely being pauper legal.

I was just talking today with some people who suggested putting in some cycle lands, I wasn't sure if it mattered whether they are Barren Moor or Lonely Sandbar . I will definitely do that though. Makes them way more valuable in late game.

I had thought about Putrid Imp and Aquamoeba but both are pretty vulnerable to ping (amoeba opens up when I activate its ability) and I liked the relatively more hearty Dragoon with the evasion it gives. I settled on Oblivion Crown as the alternate/supplementary engine since it can allow Cunning Survivor and Grisly Survivor to become even more threatening while being a little more difficult to remove (at least that's my inexperienced thought).

I really like the idea of Gorgers for applying pressure but I'm just not sure what to take out for them. Maybe I don't need Duress and Divest in the sideboard, so I can move some removal (of which I have a lot) and put the Gorgers in.

I'm also wondering if I should have some way to draw. Something like the Careful Study I have in the maybe board. It's why I was also considering Looter il-Kor . I've also kicked around the idea of a Thorn of the Black Rose for the draw that comes with Monarch.

Sorry for the lengthy reply and thanks again!

Frist off I love this deck. Quick question: is Circular Logic banned? Cause the Legality shows that its not. Now for my suggestions:

  1. Add 2 or 3 Barren Moor s in exchange for an equal number of swamps

  2. Add 1 Raven's Crime which you can use one yourself Or your opponent as need. Plus it gives you a use for excess non-cycle lands. I would drop a Psychotic Haze and put it some where in you sideboard if you are running against a lot of token or weenie decks.

  3. Brain Gorgers should be in your sideboard versus low creature count decks. That is where it shines. Perhaps 2 possibly 3, in your sideboard. It can really hurt someone if that have no choice but to let it hit the ground.

  4. Alternate discard outlets: Perhaps a One of Putrid Imp , maybe one ... Aquamoeba Not alot of good choices for discard engines.

Anyways if I think of anything else I will let you know.

Hope this helps
