18/01/2021 Update///I never Brion Stoutarm'd anyone and I regularly Terror of the Peaks shit, sooooo rename has ensued.

Background: My favorite deck growing up was squirrels utilizing Earthcraft, which has been excluded on purpose to eliminate regular infinits. Ashnod's Altar + Deranged Hermit + Emiel the Blessed and/or Mana Echoesgoes infinite too, but they are 3 piece combos not utilizing my commander. Maybe I'll bring back Earthcraft...Who knows.

Goal: 6-7/10

Basic Strategy: The idea's fairly simple. Generate Squirrels, make em big or breath em on people, win with them.

Things I like:

Things I don't like:

  • I'd like to find some more creature recursion.
  • Needs more blink effects.

Sideboard is currently used as a list of cards I want to add but don't know where to put em

Conclusion

  • The deck is slightly inconsistent, but a ton of fun to play.
  • Card draw, pre-squirrel army, is weak. Not completely necessary because the eggs provide the card advantage we're looking for
  • Protection and Recursion are weak.

King_marchesa thanks for the suggestion! I may give it a try but I'm worried I'd have to already have the squirrel engine online for it to be effective. Generally, I find myself needing card draw before the engine is working.

Valakut Exploration might help you 'draw' into your combo pieces early game! It works so well with any green ramp too! You just have to be careful you don't accidentally toss something important into the bin...

It looks like you might have 2 Utopia Sprawls in this current list? It also seems that you only have 99 total cards.

Peoyogon Thanks for the kind words and for spotting the errors. I just picked up a green spell collection ($55 on hareruya! I live in Japan...) so I may try sylvan library but I definitely do like the Valakut Exploration rec. Might be room for both to be honest, I just need to figure out what to remove. The actual tossing hasn't occurred yet in the 20-30 or so games so maybe I remove Brion Stoutarm and Soul's Fire.
