The Book of Storm: Codie, Vociferous Codex

Commander / EDH Counterspell Overload Storm

LittleMy

Baby, a big storm is coming

Sling spells, draw, draw some more, do a little drawing, build a big storm count, and cast for big flashy storm spells. Come on! No time to wait!

Just because we're the big bad villain that casts the storm, doesn't mean we aren't going to be affected. Now let's head to the supermarket and pick up some essentials.

Ramp is imperative, we're trying to get a mana and card advantage on our opponents so we can draw answers before they can build their board state.

1) Land Ramp:

Farseek, Growth Spiral, Nature's Lore, Rampant Growth, Cultivate, and Kodama's Reach

2) Impulse Ramp:

Manamorphose, Jeska's Will, and Mana Geyser

3) Notable Card Advantage Spells:

Treasure Cruise & Dig Through Time both have Delve. Due to how many spells we'll be casting, it's often the case that we'll cast these for at most.

Silundi Vision   allows us to pick from the top six of our library. It's cheap too and helps to build storm!

Valakut Awakening   & Windfall are useful to us as we are often looking for specific cards to close out the game. Any card that draws for massive or gets rid of our hand full of land is an A+.

Codie doesn't have many friends, but the ones he does have are always helping him out.

There are only seven permanent spells. Some are here to keep us going, some are here to help us combo off. But none are needed in order to win.

Barren Glory is a wincon in itself. It is one that will not happen often, but if the board is strapped for cards and not much removal is available anymore, it's a glorious finish.

Thousand-Year Storm it's a storm deck. Of course, we want more storms but for all our cards! Storming on top of a packed Thousand-Year Storm is just stormalicious.

Goblin Electromancer makes all our cards cheaper and can be played early on turn 2!

Thassa's Oracle is also a win con when paired with Demonic Consultation or Ad Nauseam + Angel's Grace

Birgi, God of Storytelling   & Storm-Kiln Artist both do essentially the same thing. When you cast an instant or sorcery, you add a red mana or create a treasure token. Once you start the storm engine, this pays off, allowing you to sometimes double the total number of spells you can cast in a turn.

This is the deck to bring out your inner Timmy and cast big spells, so let's go over those!

Mind's Desire a classic storm spell that can spiral into another storm card

Chatterstorm this deck is secretly a squirrel deck, that's just between you and me.

Fiery Encore is just a more Timmy board wipe. Sadly it cannot do damage to players. It also allows us to cycle out cards we don't need and still benefit from them.

Mizzix's Mastery is a great graveyard card that in the late game can be absolutely devastating by building up storm count and then recasting a storm card for big.

Brain Freeze is a card that can be pulled off with infinite storm count (yes, the deck has that!) to mill everyone and win the game.

Galvanic Relay this is a setup card. If you are able to set up a Dooms Day set on top of your library before your next turn, you're bound to win!

Ignite Memories a spell to starve your enemies of resources, answers, and a precursor to close out the game.

Not only do we need protection to win the game, but we need to deny our opponents their permanents to keep them from swinging at us for free.

Autumn's Veil tell me when do you not see at least one person at the table who is not running Blue or Black. There ALWAYS is a person running one of those colors.

Angel's Grace in a bind this spell can save your life, it also has Split-Second which stops the stack if there is one.

Narset's Reversal great for hijacking someone's spell and showing them how it's meant to be used.

Pact of Negation & Force of Negation hard counterspells that can be played in a bind.

Dovin's Veto & Counterflux all hard stop countering, unable to be countered themselves. Counterflux having the addition of being able to be Overloaded

Flusterstorm a storming counterspell, if it is late on the stack, it is almost always uncontested.

Silence for when you are about to combo off and want some privacy.

Cyclonic Rift & Toxic Deluge are both pretty self explanatory.

Alright I think we earned the right to finish the game. Let's find out what we're really digging for.

Storm-Kiln Artist // Haze of Rage

1) You need to have Storm-Kiln Artist on the battlefield and 3 spells cast before Haze of Rage (At the very least (for previous spells) + )

2) Cast Haze of Rage, paying for its buyback. This will generate 4 Treasure tokens.

3) Continue casting Haze of Rage an infinite amount of times

Each time you do this, you get a net gain of f(x)=4(1+1)∞ = Infinite Mana and Infinite Storm

Turnabout // Reiterate

1) You need

2) Cast Turnabout, then target it with Reiterate paying for its buyback cost

3) Return Reiterate to your hand and resolve the copied Turnabout, produce at the very least 7 mana from the lands you untap.

4) Then recast Reiterate targeting the original Turnabout

Each time you do this, you get a net gain of of any color = Infinite Mana and Infinite Storm

Mystic Retrieval // Runic Repetition // Turnabout

1) You need

2) Float all mana, cast Turnabout and float all mana again. Now at a net gain of 1 colored mana.

3) Cast Mystic Retrieval, targeting Turnabout

4) Float all mana, cast Turnabout and float all mana again. Now at a net gain of 2 colored mana in total.

5) Flashback Mystic Retrieval, targeting Turnabout, returning it to your hand.

6) Cast Runic Repetition, targeting Mystic Retrieval

7) Float all mana, cast Turnabout and float all mana again. Now at a net gain of 3 colored mana in total.

8) Cast Mystic Retrieval, targeting Runic Repetiton, returning it to your hand

9) Flashback Mystic Retrieval, targeting Turnabout, returning it to your hand

10) Continue this loop infinitely

Each time you do this, you get a net gain of = Infinite Mana and Infinite Storm

Jeska's Will // Reiterate

1) You need

2) Cast Jeska's Will, then target it with Reiterate paying for its buyback cost.

3) Return Reiterate to your hand and resolve the copied Jeska's Will, producing

4) Then recast Reiterate targeting the original Jeska's Will.

Each time you do this, you get a net gain of = Infinite Red Mana and Infinite Storm

Mana Geyser // Reiterate

1) You need

2) Cast Mana Geyser, then target it with Reiterate paying for its buyback cost

3) Return Reiterate to your hand and resolve the copied Mana Geyser, producing

4) Then recast Reiterate targeting the original Mana Geyser.

Each time you do this, you get a net gain of = Infinite Red Mana and Infinite Storm

If there is anything you see that can be improved, by all means comment!
