Fiery Encore

Sorcery

Discard a card, then draw a card. When you discard a nonland card this way, this deals damage equal to that card's converted mana cost/mana value to target creature or planeswalker.

Storm (When you cast this spell, copy it for each spell cast before it this turn.)

Ah the ol' thrum thrum! I can see how that can be big.

3x38 is only 114 though, so wondering how you'd kill off a 3x40=120 typical pod table (usually with a lifegain player in there somewhere) in the same turn?

Could probably drop 2 lands to add 2 more Dragon's Approach or even better one of the spell doubling artifacts or Pyromancer's Gauntletthat you can tutor out like Spellweaver Helix, Mirari, Twinning Staff, Pyromancer's Goggles or a storm finisher like a Grapeshot or Galvanic Relay or Fiery Encore or Ignite Memories or something?

Or maybe Feldon of the Third Path to copy out Hoarding Dragon from the yard?

Rhadamanthus on Would Fiery Encore still trigger …

Unfortunately no, this won't work. Since the card goes directly from one hidden zone to another (hand and library are the game's two hidden zones) and Fiery Encore doesn't specifically say to reveal it, it won't be revealed as it moves. Fiery Encore won't be able to get any information about its type, mana value, or anything.

I am working on a Wheel deck and I wanted to know if this interaction would work or not before I put it in. Fiery Encore's second ability will burn target creature for the mana cost of the card discarded, but what I'm wondering is if Library of Leng's replacement effect would prevent that damage since the card wasn't technically discarded, or would it just be treated as if it was revealed?

Yesterday on Are reflexive triggers just triggered …

Just wanna double check I have this right.

I have a few copies of Fiery Encore on the stack.

When I discard an Alchemist's Greeting to Fiery Encore, I have the choice of whether to resolve the Madness cast trigger or the Fiery Encore's reflexive trigger first?

When I discard a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth to Fiery Encore, I have the option to shuffle the graveyard into my library before or after the Fiery Encore trigger resolves?

And, as with spells that have you cast another spell as part of the first spell's resolution (like Baral's Expertise), players can respond and add things to the stack during the resolution of Fiery Encore because it puts new things on the stack to resolve as itself is resolving?

This seems like a bit of a non-question I guess. Basically, is there anything that makes reflexive triggered abilities in spells or abilities notably different from regular triggered abilities?

Asmoeus here are some suggestions around what I would do to improve the deck on a budget

Lands

Artifact

  • Look decent. Gilded Lotus does have a high mana cost so would keep an eye on how often you cast it.

Sorcery

  • Remove Creative Technique (with your lower mana curve odds of you revealing something really good is low) > Add Arcane Denial as a good, cheap counter spell
  • Remove Fiery Encore (expensive and requires you to discard a high mana cost card to deal decent damage) > Add Solve the Equation (Tutor for the spell you need)

Creature

  • Remove Charmbreaker Devils (returning spell at random will not often get what you need, and does not have a way to get around blockers) > Add Runaway Steam-Kin (Will help you cast more spells and give you mana)
