Kaldra Compleat Discussion
FlamingHail, thank you very much for the detailed comment. I know what you mean about Bone Shards. Once I test Eaten Alive I may discover that I want Shards instead for the extra discard. Eaten Alive helps mostly for indestructible critters like the germ with Kaldra Compleat. But the flavor for Eaten Alive is spot on! ;)
Also I believe you are slightly mistaken with how Geralf's Messenger and Plague Belcher interact. Regardless if I choose to sacrifice Messenger first with Feeder or target it first with Belcher, the outcome will be the same. Below is a slightly different analysis, where I sac Messenger first before I play Belchers. In my original write up, I play Belchers first and then sac Messenger to Feeder after. Regardless, that’s still at least 25 life loss by the end of the turn. To anyone reading this, if I’m missing something big, please let me know.
Then on turn 4, I sac Messenger to Feeder and Messenger returns with +1/+1 counter (opponent loses 2 life). I then use Vial to cheat-in Plague Belcher, targeting Messenger with the -1/-1 counters, removing its +1/+1 counter. Then I sac Messenger to Feeder (opponent loses 1 life with Belcher). Messenger returns with +1/+1 counter (opponent loses more 2 life - 7 total so far).
I then hard-cast another Belcher targeting Messenger, removing Messenger’s +1/+1 counters. I then sac Messenger to Feeder (2 life loss from Belchers and 2 more when Messenger returns - 11 total).
I then sac Messenger to Feeder again when Messenger returns with +1/+1 counter (2 life loss from Belchers, 2 more when Messenger returns, 15 total).
I can then cast Unearth to return Messenger to play (2 life loss). I then sac Messenger to Feeder and again when it returns with undying (2 life loss from Belchers, 2 more when Messenger returns, 2 more from Belchers - 23 total).
Finally, I sacrifice Carrion Feeder to itself (2 life loss from Belchers).
In total I have drained 25 life from the opponent by the end of my fourth turn.“

Couple Problems: Phantasmal Image, Batterskull, and Kaldra Compleat incorrectly show up as banned in modern. Secondly, you can't access sideboard mid match in the playlets feature when using Karn, the Great Creator, please fix these issues fast! Thanks.

Im fairly certain the answer is yes but I just want confirmation.
Say I have Kaldra Compleat out equipped to its germ and I attack with two creatures. Both get blocked.
First strike damage happens, triggering kaldra compleat. In response I Magnetic Theft kaldra compleat onto my other creature. My germ dies, the trigger resolves and their creature exiles.
Now normal combat happens and their other creature gets exiled by kaldra compleat.
Is this correct?

Since you’re runnung that much echantments, why not using Rancor? Some of the Swords could be useful for protection, too. I would suggest Sword of Fire and Ice, Sword of Feast and Famine, Sword of Hearth and Home and/or Sword of Light and Shadow… Kaldra Compleat wouldn’t hurt either.

You could run some Threats still in line with your them:
Karn, the Great Creator: I love this tool box card but it depends on how people feel about the 10 card sideboard, it isn't officially allowed exactly but cEDH may change that. you can fill the board (10 is generally the accepted number I have seen for the "side") with situationally useful artifacts.
The only other thing I would think of is maybe considering a bit more control like
to give a bit more protection for your strats
Rakdos's Return is always funny but may or may not work here
Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast seems to fit the theme
I am not a fan of the wellsprings, they do fit the them somewhat but can seem dead at times.
I had a couple of others that were in mind but lost them, I will comment if I think of them

Hey StoryArcher, I have a lot of experience with black devotion - I’d like to share my thoughts with you (I am making suggestions regardless of budget considerations, since I don’t see the budget tag):
I concur with the other users above - you need to seriously consider mainboarding more cheap removal. Rider is good, but it’s expensive at 3 mana and also costs 2 life. It’s ok to run 1-2, but there’s a reason why Fatal Push is a mainstay in black decks. Especially if you run a few fetch lands to thin the deck and trigger revolt. Another good option is Dismember, which kills the germ created by Kaldra Compleat and other pesky indestructible creatures for as low as 1 mana. The new Infernal Grasp looks good too.
You are running too many Gray Merchant of Asphodel - 2 is enough. You don’t want them to clog up your hand, and your land count is lean at 22 lands.
Sign in Blood is a weak card because it doesn’t further your board state. Phyrexian Arena is slower, but it draws you a card every turn and adds to devotion. Also Liliana, the Last Hope helps fish for creatures from your deck/graveyard. She is complimented well by Liliana of the Veil, which discards your own cards but her ultimate is game-ending. Geralf's Messenger is good but slow. I would cut them in favor of the Lilianas.
I don’t see the usefulness of Knight of the Ebon Legion. You aren’t running a tribal vampire deck, and it seems out of place. Consider Dauthi Voidwalker to add to your devotion and for built-in graveyard hate. There are more graveyard based decks than ever in today’s meta.
I concur with wallisface - splashing a little white for better removal on the sideboard is a big help in today’s meta. Lingering Souls is very useful to generate pressure in the early game and can be discarded by Liliana and Collective Brutality. Also Silent Clearing is a great way to draw additional cards. If you run 1-2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, you can turn your fetches and Silent Clearings into swamps and save life.
Here is a link to my list, for your reference:
Hope this helps! :)
