FIGHTERS BREAKDOWN

Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist and Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful Notes:

  • Currently this duo is my headliner.
  • Yoshi is a powerful first turn play, especially in a deck with so many incidental legends.
  • I'll admit I bent the mana base a little to include more legendary lands, but I think it actually forced me out of my "play 30 Plains" strat and that's probably a good thing.
  • I prefer to put equipment on the pup instead of Ardenn herself because said pup is easier to recast.
  • Not much to say about equipment selection here, I'm looking for a way to get damage through whether it's protection or evasion.
  • Magical Christmasland - T1: Yoshi. T2: Colossus Hammer, Masterwork of Ingenuity. T3: Ardenn. Attach everything to Yoshi and take out the guy who is still setting up.

Balan, Wandering Knight and Halvar, God of Battle   Notes:

  • Lumping these two because they are very similar cards
  • Balan is overdue for a turn as fighter.
  • Ideally, these guys need haste. Their MV of 4 and lack of inbuilt protection puts them behind the curve IMO.
  • Dropping them on t5 with Swiftfoot Boots and a Colossus Hammer seems ok.
  • I will probably take one of these out when a better or unique Fighter is released

Codsworth, Handy Helper Notes:

  • Codsworth is a recent addition to this deck and I haven't had much time to try him out
  • Just on gut, I think Codsworth is probably better as a support player
  • No additional cards have been added or removed to support this fighter

Commander Eesha Notes:

  • This deck started life as a Commander Eesha gimmick deck. Every card had to depict a Birdperson.
  • This is still one of my favorite Fighters. Unblockable Voltron is silly fun
  • She wears Big Numbers Equipment better than she wears Swords of X and Y. Getting protection from a color is a little like a hat on a hat.

Danitha Capashen, Paragon Notes:

  • A generally good "value" commander.
  • I would play this against a table if I expected a longer game.
  • Doesn't see much time at the helm.

Eowyn, Lady of Rohan Notes:

  • Recently added to the fighters table
  • Looks like a toned-down Danitha Capashen.
  • Probably good at lower-power tables
  • Like Halvar/Balan, I am not against cycling a different fighter in to this slot

Sram, Senior Edificer Notes:

  • Putting a repeatable draw effect in the command zone is a good time.

Zamriel, Seraph of Steelfoil Notes

  • One of my favorite fighters!
  • Her ideal line is play is: t2/3 (Equip Cost Bypasser) -> t3/4 Zamriel -> t4/5 Worldslayer
  • and swing for a lock

Zetalpa, Primal Dawn Notes:

  • I just picked this guy up from my FLGS.
  • Clearly Zetalpa doesn't have synergy in the 99
  • Instead of running it alongside my other fighters when it's not leading the deck, I plan to cycle it in and out by temporarily removing a card from the deck to make room
  • Silverblade Paladin is a good choice to cycle out
