Crow_Umbra on Rograkh + Ardenn Equipment Deck

Hi there! Have you had a chance to play this deck irl at all yet? Do you have a set budget in mind per card, or overall for the deck? I have a few suggestions for potential additions as well as some likely swaps:

  • Sigarda's Aid - Super helpful to cheat Equip costs, as they can get mana intensive

  • Dismantling Wave / Wear / Tear - Can maybe replace Austere Command as a slightly faster options to deal with multiple artifacts/enchantments at once, and also because you can likely afford to run 1-2 fewer board wipes.

  • Forge Anew - Some more excellent new equipment support.

  • Frodo, Determined Hero - Excellent attacker that can skip on equip costs for himself.

  • Generous Gift - Is a versatile removal option since it can also destroy lands. The 3/3 Elephant token is fairly irrelevant in the grand scheme of an EDH game.

  • Promise of Loyalty - Can likely replace Slash the Ranks. I've played this in a Voltron Aura deck a couple years ago, and found it to be super helpful since it kept some heat off me while I swung away as everyone else was in rebuild mode. This is also a bit better than Slash the Ranks since the sacrifice removal gets around Indestructible, and destroy effects don't

I think you can remove Winds of Rath since your deck isn't really running any Aura enchantments to have your creatures benefit from.

Crucible of Worlds and Command Beacon makes it where you no longer pay command tax Divine Reckoning Slash the Ranks The Eternal Wanderer and Hour of Reckoning are decent board wipes to consider

very janky but hear me out

Avacyn's Memorial and Leyline of Singularity i noticed your only using token creatures Mirror Box when your against snowball goblins or elves this combo comes in handy

Played around with Light-Paws a bit in Historic Brawl on Arena after NEO released. Definitely a powerful commander!

Thoughts on Slash the Ranks and Single Combat for more board wipes?

Might wanna spruce up the mana base with the usual suspects as well. Myriad Landscape, War Room, Rogue's Passage etc

I just saw this post cPute so sorry for the late reply!

At the moment I am unsure on how else other than Slash the Ranks we would self-sacrifice the Academy Rector but if you have any ideas I am certainly open to them.

I love the suggestions and I am looking for space to add them now, the only issue with Back to Basics is it really affects my deck as I run minimum basic lands. If you are running a deck that can suit it more by all means make your opponents cry (then tell me all about it mwahaha).

What I am considering is adding in High Market , Diamond Valley and Smokestack as these cards still synergise with our plan to pace, pretend to make political friends (for those who play politics - who would hurt a bunny) and also stax stax stax!

Honourable mentions to Claws of Gix and Martyr's Cause as it would protect Kwain.

The best you can do is just run more board wipes. You're a spellslinger deck, so they're your best friend. The new one, Slash the Ranks , is great, because your commander is so expensive. On that note, are Firesong and Sunspeaker your real commanders, or just a stand-in? Your deck's three colors, and they're only two.

Thought more about this and there's still tons of options for this deck really. In my previous comment I mention how you may want to double up on Extus's effect with stuff like Ravos, Soultender but there's also enchantment options that may be a little harder for your opponents to get rid of. Stuff like Debtors' Knell and Palace Siege can also be useful enchantments to help you bring useful stuff back to cast multiple times. Crackling Doom is also a pretty good card that you could add as a substitute for any of the kill spells. A possibility for this deck could also be to reanimate some troublesome creatures for your opponents like Master of Cruelties Raving Dead Virtus the Veiled or Dire Fleet Ravager to help make killing your opponents with the sorcery easier. More boardwipes that only affect your opponents would also be good so something like Ruinous Ultimatum can help make the job a little easier. Other boardwipes such as Slash the Ranks Austere Command Merciless Eviction and Martial Coup give you some more options and not only target creatures but other pesky permanents as well.
