The main idea is bringing out Master Chef and Volo, Itinerant Scholar as fast as possible, but delay creature drops until Volo's Journal is on the field. As the Journal is the main drawing and value engine, you won't even care if Volo is on the field later on the game, you just care on having that Journal full and protected.

The deck uses low mana cost cards so you can frequently play creatures and increase the draw power. The end goal is having a wide field filled with big beaters, even your mana dorks will become big with the might of +1/+1 counters and proliferation.

You should activate Volo, Itinerant Scholar as frequently as you can when you have 2+ types registered. Eventually getting into unlimited hand size with Reliquary Tower, Wizard Class or Thought Vessel. You'll draw into interaction, destruction and more creatures on the way.

Eventually you could get some untaps like Kiora's Follower, The Thirteenth Doctor or Seedborn Muse. Those effects will allow you to untap Volo, Itinerant Scholar in other player's turns so you can draw more cards, or untap your mana dorks like Kami of Whispered Hopes or Sanctum Weaver so you can play your interactions.

Cards like Chasm Skulker, Toothy, Imaginary Friend and Lorescale Coatl get really big incidentally, by just doing what Volo does best: Drawing Cards! (Beware of Toothy, as decking out is a risk when you put it in the field late into the game).

Creatures like Reclamation Sage, Haywire Mite, Cankerbloom or Siren Stormtamer are pieces of interaction and removal in creature form, netting you more draw power in the future, and they can get really big with +1/+1 counters.

All the creatures have the potential to become mana dorks with cards like Elven Chorus or Rishkar, Peema Renegade. Mana dorks like Kami of Whispered Hopes, Sanctum Weaver, Gyre Sage or a mere Incubation Druid have the potential to net a significant amount of mana. This makes untap effects of creatures very valuable as not only does it allow you to draw cards with Volo, but also enables you to play interaction with just big mana dorks.
