Looks good. To upgrade your mana base, I'd get a Marsh Flats and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. If you can afford a Scrubland, you can afford those. Also for sac outlets, I'd replace Spawning Pit *list* with Woe Strider.

Pretty great with everyone in my playgroup just figuring out what they truly like using proxies as the engine. Make what you want, play what you want. No one even knows which deck has my 310 gsm cardstock proxy Scrubland & which one has my true Scrubland - hint, its Breena, the Demagogue :)

It's the wild-west as to who has what & it's beautiful. From doing it so much firsthand, I have seen the exact opposite of homogenization. People in the playgroup are more willing to make less common decks with proxies open to play. But, we seem to just practice restraint instead of just proxying a some the most cEDH decks often don't really need to be $1k+ budget. There is an assumption that proxies will always be extreme power level cards... but again in my experience that has been maybe a small fraction of the rationale for proxying cards.

Most proxies in my playgroup have been for a wide range of reasons. One player is still a college student & he sees no reason to buy up a bunch of product at this point in his life.. His Kibo deck has a buttload of proxies & it has 0 to do with power level.

On the flip side there can be a wide variety of reasons I put my original duals into decks beyond power level. I put my original copy Scrubland into Breena, the Demagogue simply because it is my only deck. My Jund dual original copies are in my Thantis, the Warweaver deck; not Korvald.

Perception can depend on the player demographics too. I remember being somewhat picked apart for having that scrubland in my Breena deck because the perception was dual = power, not really true in that deck, Orzhov +1/+1 counters, proliferate, walkers can be good, but it is not close to cEDH.

Master Apothecary is on the weaker side as far as I can tell, maybe shave one for a Mirror Entity as a closer? I also feel like Entity compares well to Doubtless One, by the time Doubtless One is big, you likely have a reasonable amount of mana available, meaning Mirror Entity will be more power usually, if you actually want power on board.

Huatli is neat, but AFAIK the only way you can give evasion is with Mother of Runes, so I worry 1 tall creature won't matter in practice. Probably the right call in not bothering, even if the effect is solid enough, getting the part you really need from a land is super sweet, one less thing to worry about getting countered!

I like Wasteland or even Kor Haven maybe, but if you want to run Flagstones, I really feel like you should be running 1 or 2 Godless Shrines (I assume Scrubland is over budget) to potentially fling a Cleric to finish someone off. You could readily cut 2 Plains for Shrines, I doubt you'll notice any problems. It might not come up much, but games where you have infinite life can be wonky, I'd rather have the option I think.

Phoenometroid on Licia, First Sword of the Mardu {Primer}

I've been working to push Licia, Sanguine Tribune for quite a while, especially more into that Mardu Philosophy I came to love. I found out VERY quickly I get a mass amount of hate from my Edgar Markov with my playgroup for how aggressive he is for sure. I do very much love playing themed or tribal based decks. I discovered that I play too many Mardu decks which thins out my card availability for keeping all the decks solid until I amass extra copies of stables. Seeing this framework and the stratagems you provide for Licia is just WOW!

Sadly I don't have many of those expensive cards to piece in now, Wheel of Fortune, Necropotence, Scrubland, Dark Confidant, Enlightened Tutor, Sensei's Divining Top or Tithe but I'm sure I can found some counterparts to use instead.

What do you think of replacing Glory-Bound Initiate with Lone Rider  Flip? Also if you have any deck builds or ideas for Kelsien, the Plague I'd love to know your feedback on that, he's another Mardu favorite of mine.

Hey Privian, thanks for commenting. You can definitely reduce the cost of the deck by swapping out the cards you listed. Here are my suggestions for replacements:

Plateau > Needleverge Pathway  Flip

Scrubland > Brightclimb Pathway  Flip

Badlands > Blightstep Pathway  Flip

Mox Diamond > Fellwar Stone

Grim Monolith > Dark Ritual

Imperial Seal > Grim Tutor

Ravages of War > Armageddon

Ravages of War is identical to Armageddon, I just happen to have a copy of Ravages I picked up years ago.

You could also run Mox Opal, but in that case I would also run the Mirrodin artifact lands (ex:Vault of Whispers.)
