Cantrip Drake tokens via Talrand.. The strategy of this deck is pretty simple: get Talrand out asap, along with some form of protection (counters or equipment) then cantrip like crazy to make an army of drakes! The way it plays out is very difficult to "goldfish" and I was pleasantly surprised by how explosive, powerful, and interactive the deck actually is. Extraplanar Lens is why all basics are Snow-Covered Islands (the mana boost is nearly always one-sided that way!), & the few extremely powerful creatures ensure Proteus Staff & Polymorph always hit great targets! I've only played a handful of games with this at my LGS so far, but it has overperformed spectacularly- VERY happy with my new deck!! Counters are absurdly powerful tools in the right hands, especially the Force of Will-style cards that can cost zero mana.

This deck is insane! I was playing at my LGS this past weekend, and one guy with a fairly strong blink deck was rightfully targeting me because I was mono-blue and kept destroying my mana-base and Talrand.. then another player took out his blink-enabler & i got ONE unimpeded turn and basically won at that point lol- I only had two drakes and 9 lands as my boardstate, and Talrand would've cost 8 mana by this time, but I used Fabricate to find Extraplanar Lens, then cast it exiling a Snow-Covered Island, leaving me with six mana still, which allowed me to play Proteus Staff and activate it, tucking a drake and putting Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur onto the battlefield! At my endstep I drew the seven cards, which gave me enough counters to not worry about my opponents, even with no mana. Next turn I had 18 mana, so I hardcast Docent of Perfection  Flip, then used Proteus Staff on the remaining drake to cheat out Blightsteel Colossus.. On my opponent's endstep i Overloaded Cyclonic Rift, then cast Quicken followed by Serum Visions for the two Human Wizards from Docent.. At this point I could swing with an unblocked Blightsteel to take one opponent out, but I also cast Metallurgic Summonings, followed by Opt for a Construct and my 3rd wizard, which transformed Docent of Perfection  Flip, then used Proteus Staff to cheat out Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre (this is in addition to my Docent, Jin-Gitaxias, & Blightsteel!).. With 20+ cards in hand, many of which were counters, it was at this point everyone scooped.. I have had many games like this! I especially enjoyed this one, however, since I was being oppresively targeted, then won as soon as I got ONE unimpeded turn lol
