Maybeboard

My spin on Ghave seeks to stall out the game with stax until it can unceremoniously combo off from a bevy of combinations between Ghave, one of the two Altars, and enough value enablers to get an infinite combo going. Usually that requires waiting for a damage dealer (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat), but sometimes you just gotta go for it and throw an infinite number of (∞/∞)s at your opponents.

Some little notes: On the end step before your turn, if you have mana available and Ghave is on the field, use your mana to make more saprolings. There are multiple tutors for lands in this deck, and Ghave can very easily fulfill the requirement for Westvale Abbey  . Gift of Immortality is Ghave's best friend. Once this is on him, the opponents must kill him twice in one turn to truly kill him- and every round that passes that no one tries to kill him, you can sac Ghave to himself to reset the counters on him.

So to combo in this deck, you NEED either Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, or Cryptic Trilobite on the field, with Ashnod's needing the fewest combo pieces to go off, and the Trilobite needing the most combo pieces. In addition, most of these combos require Ghave to be on the field. This is not always the case, but it is usually the case.

Said combo pieces are as follows:

Young Wolf

Anointed Procession

Cathars' Crusade

Good-Fortune Unicorn

Geralf's Messenger

Champion of Lambholt

Woodland Champion

Strangleroot Geist

Typically, the more of these you have on the field, the easier it is to combo off. I'm not gonna sit here and figure out what all works with what, just stare at the interactions till you figure it out and say "oh dude I go infinite here".

Usually the end result is that your combo loops get you net positive on mana- and if you have that, that means you have infinite mana. And if you have infinite mana, you can stop trying to make mana for a while, and instead go net positive on your resources- usually meaning, you now have infinite +1/+1 counters. And if you have infinite mana and counters, you can use Ghave's ability to create an infinite number of 1/1 Saprolings. And if you have infinite mana and Saprolings, you can use Ghave's other ability to put an infinite number of +1/+1 counters on each of those Saprolings. Therefore, once you combo off, you will end with a board result at minimum, of an infinite number of (∞/∞)s.
