Another batch of cuttable creatures, the premise is simple either they don't progress counters plan or are too expensive for what they do: - Conclave Naturalists - Armorcraft Judge - Avatar of the Resolute - Nimbus Swimmer - Skatewing Spy - Tuskguard Captain - Blighted Woodland - AEtherize - Bow of Nylea - Uncage the Menagerie - AEtherspouts - Durable Handicraft - Hunt the Weak - Recross the Paths - Winding Way - Rhonas's Monument

Doritoboy100 on Deck help Oko+Simic guild+simic mutology ...

Hello all, I have been playing with the Oko structure deck, that I updated using Affinity For MTG's youtube video, and just bought the Simic Mutology structure deck as well as the Simic Guild Kit, as well as some booster pack cards. I'm trying to combine them into a 75 card deck, with 15 cards I know to take out for 60. Based off the cards in these 3 decks I'd like to build the deck around a constant flow of powerful monsters through the +1/+1 counters, as well as overloading on mana and drawing a lot. Some of the main points of damage right now are Oko who can just turn everything into a base 10/10 and distribute lots of +1/+1s, vorel who can double somethings counters, zegana who gives trample, galloping lizrog which can take all the +1/+1s and double them onto himself, nylea's forerunner for trample, progenitors mimic and miming slime to make clones, and wild born preserver for reach and his +1/+1s. But I also have things like coiling oracle/fathom mage to draw a lot, and gyre sage/maraleaf pixie for tons of mana. So I'd like to just find a good strategy in this mess lol.

The total card list of everything I will have is: (stuff with "x" seems important to me) Creatures: 1 Oko, the Tricksterx, 1 Vorel of the Hull Cladex, 1 Zegana, Utopian Speakerx, 1 Momir Vig, Simic Visionaryx, 2 Cloudfin Raptor, 4 Coiling Oraclex, 1 Cytoplast Root-Kin, 1 Elusive Krasis, 4 Faerie Vandalx, 1 Fathom Magex, 1 Frilled Mysticx, 1 Galloping Lizrogx, 1 Gyre Sagex, 4 Keeper of Fablesx, 3 Maraleaf Pixiex, 1 Nimbus Swimmer, 1 Nylea's Forerunnerx, 3 Paradise Druid, 2 Plaxmantax, 1 Progenitor Mimicx, 1 Protean Hulkx, 3 Spectral Sailorx, 4 Sphinx of Foresight, 2 Surveilling Sprite, 1 Trygon Predator, 2 Vigean Graftmage, 3 Vigean Hydropon, 1 Wildborn Preserverx, 2 Zameck Guildmagex,

Instants: 1 Applied Biomancyx, 1 Disdainful Strokex, 1 Gift of Strengthx, 2 Oko's Hospitalityx, 3 Optx, 1 Prying Eyes, 1 Quenchx, 1 Radical Ideax, 2 Rapid Hybridization, 1 Return of the Wildspeakerx, 1 Voidslime,

Sorcery: 2 Flash Foliagex, 1 Maximize Altitudex, 1 Miming Slimex, 1 Selective Snarex, 2 Shielding Plaxx, 1 Urban Evolutionx,

Enchantments: 3 Charmed Sleepx, 3 Frogifyx, 2 Setessan Trainingx,

Artifacts: 2 Simic Signet,

Land: 4 Simic Growth Chamberx, 4 Simic Guildgate, 4 Thornwood Fallsx, X Forestx, X Islandx

Thanks!

I would cut Nimbus Swimmer Pearl Lake Ancient Tidal Kraken Naturalize (but for something better in the same roll), even Reclamation Sage Acidic Slime or Relic Crush. Aqueous Form can also go.

DemonDragonJ on Copying a Creature With X ...

If a player copies a creature that contains X in its mana cost, such as Hydroid Krasis or Nimbus Swimmer , via Riku of Two Reflections or similar card, what will the power and toughness of the token be?

In my Arixmethes deck i combine him with Pemmin's Aura to go infinite mana then stroke of genius or braingeyser to kill someone or dump it into a Nimbus Swimmer

lagotripha thank you for all the suggestions! I'm personally not a big fan of Gyre Sage as it doesn't ramp untill it receives a counter, but adding more ramp is probably not a bad idea. I'll see if Kiora's Follower fits the bill.

I do hope Hydroid Krasis drops in price, it would be a good replacement for Nimbus Swimmer as well.

I'm unsure about beast within and the mana rocks, but I'll definetely keep them in consideration.

Thanks again!

Nimbus Swimmer always feels a little weak to me. I always assess by looking at how a card feels to draw in the first three turns. Drawing a low cost spell later in the game is usually ok, but making sure those first few turns put you in a good spot is essential.

I'm just flicking through the simic stuff since I've tended to only do stuff like Cloudfin Raptor / Experiment One with it. Hydroid Krasis looks promising when the set rotates and it gets cheap, which will let you replace glimmer of genius.

Right now, think what I'd do would be add three Gyre Sage and two thrummingbird, cutting a climb, a hungering, two forests and a swamp. I'd also consider cutting Go for the Throat and running Beast Within instead, since I like the extra versatility with my 2 drop slot already taken/ ramping me to play it.

I'd also look at Everflowing Chalice and Astral Cornucopia while upping the proliferate count- Tezzeret's Gambit does a reasonable impression of Glimmer of Genius in most cases, and getting lots of mana to pump into hydras is good feeling.

Thats my thoughts though, and my deckbuilding is far from perfect. Testing is the most important thing. Hit playtest, draw a few hands, change some things then try again. Its how you get a deck that feels good to play.

Wow, dude. You might be the very first person I've advised to remove lands from their deck. 42 is plenty, even for a big creature deck with Exploration and Burgeoning. Add in a little more early ramp in those spots. Sakura-Tribe Elder and Farseek come to mind. T

he other thing to keep in mind if you're new to commander is that 99-card singleton vs 60-card decks with 4 copies of staple cards behave very differently. You're only 50/50 to draw two creatures in the first 6 turns. Foster and Heirloom Blade might be good, in addition to a few more leviathans. Deep-Sea Kraken is a great early drop that should be out with haste by turn 5. Mesmerizing Benthid and Elder Deep-Fiend are octopi that can slow down opponents. Tromokratis is just a pain for any deck running utility creatures. Nimbus Swimmer can get hilariously large with your ramp package.

I think the counterspells that untap lands are clever, for sure. I might also consider Frantic Search for the same reason. If you really want to double down on the flash subtheme, then Leyline of Anticipation and/or Vedalken Orrery are good. Although, if you want to remove Simic Signet , as well, having very few artifacts or enchantments (that don't win on the spot, anyway), means that Bane of Progress and Wave of Vitriol are both pretty great.

Cyclonic Rift is just a straight-up staple, so make that a stretch card when you want to put more into the deck. As for tribal stuff, this might be a stretch on your budget, but Herald's Horn and Urza's Incubator are where it's at.

Bounty of the Luxa hasn't been all it was hyped up to be when it first came out. I'm not a fan of Foil , since the part of the game when you've got 4 mana but don't have extra untapped lands is pretty narrow.

Beyond that, I would check out the sea-creature tribal EDHREC page for Arixmethes. Looks like about 30 people have built decks under that theme, which is lower than I expected, although the decks from the main page might be built as such but not labeled. There's also a quirk of tribes with high CMC and low numbers tend to not meet the EDHREC critera for the site's algorithm automatically labelling it as a tribal deck.
