Hydroid Krasis Discussion

He isn't a hydra but Animar, Soul of Elements would really work as the commander of this kind of deck. Animar naturally synergies with X costed hydras and you get access to Hydroid Krasis . Simic Ascendancy could also function as a secondary wincon.

Hey man! love the concept, for lands, I think this would be a smoother way to fix your colors:
And 4 basics of your choice, I will go rather Forests or Islands, then...you could sneak a Hydroid Krasis to fit the Hydra theme and replace the Pollenbright Druid with a Evolution Sage also if you mainly run all creatures and no spells what so ever, Vivien, Champion of the Wilds could be a nice addition, keep it up :)

Hydroid Krasis is a crazy good card here but it is a bit expensive, Growth-Chamber Guardian is also really good here with the biomancer in the deck. I feel like you could replace Gyre Engineer with Paradise Druid , while it does make one less mana, the overall mana cost for this deck is low so you rarely need the one extra made by him also druid is a 2/1 and has hexproof, sometimes. you could also consider Neoform as it might be good here.

Corvaxis Thanks for the comments! Money is a bit of a factor, so it might be tricky to get another Hydroid Krasis for a while. Originally, I tried having more focus on counters, but found that too slow, especially against aggro. The main reason I sideboarded Lava Coil and added Shock is because Shock is a bit more flexible than Lava Coil. The main focus is getting Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Saheeli, Sublime Artificer out asap and getting value out of my spells quickly. Lava Coil only works on creatures, so against a creatureless deck it's pretty much a dead card I can only use on my own creatures (though to be fair, this also applies to Root Snare , which for some reason I hadn't thought about). I will consider picking up another Cindervines though. I haven't gotten to test this out much since putting things together this way, but it does seem improved over the counter focus it had before. I wonder though, should I add more Cindervines, or should I instead keep the number I have and instead pick up a couple Ral, Storm Conduit copies? Ral and Niv seem like they should be deadly together.

Right off the bat I would suggest upping the number of Hydroid Krasis to 2 at least (beast card btw). This comes from a personal hate of 1 offs though, because if one gets removed or exiled, then it just feels so harsh.
Cindervines should also go up to 3. The value it gives is just so good. Maybe even go up to 4, and toy around with how many you want in the main board and side board.
Aside from that, it just seems like you're doing a lot with this deck. Do you have room to take anything out for a better focus? Shock is ok, but with only 2 of it, are you reliably drawing it when needed? And even at 1 mana, if you played both of them for a trade, if you're splitting them, I feel like you've already got enough control, and if you need to use both on one target, Lava Coil provides better value.
What does your current record look like with this deck (not hating, just trying to get a feel of it)? And how much of a factor is money for you?

If you can get Nissa's ultimate effect, then play Sylvan Awakening having all your lands in the deck able to attack as 2/2 indestructible creatures could be a game winner. If you can do this behind Shalai, Voice of Plenty that should protect you from cards like Settle the Wreckage .
With this deck, I would tend to drop all the 'nice to have' high cmc cards like Nexus of Fate , Ignite the Beacon , Song of Freyalise , Wilderness Reclamation and Hydroid Krasis which can all be great from turn 10 onward, and try to focus on win-conditions that are possible from turn 4 or 5.
4 Dovin's Veto would probably be a good idea.
With the quality of green (and other) combinations available in RAW, you just can't afford to grind out a game that might win after a dozen turns. If you can really get these combo's running, Might of the Masses , Pelt Collector , Arboreal Grazer and a range of 1-drops are really strong.
You could always also focus on getting all your lands on the field, then pump 1 with something like Blanchwood Armor

I know your description mentions a tight budget, but Hydroid Krasis would be a perfect addition.

Reason? Wizard's Retort needs to be active turn 2 for two mana to be worth it, like real mono-blue tempo using 1 drop wizards like Siren Stormtamer . Kasmina gets down turn 4, meaning only on turn 5 does Wizard's Retort cost one less using it.
That is trash. The Wizard and static protecting her makes her good in limited, but in Standard where it gets countered or kill you before it is cast by control, mono-white, mono-blue, mardu aristocrats, and mono-red just makes it bad. In a midrange matchup, such as Esper Hero or Sultai, it isn't going to be worth it, as 2/2s don't protect her from Hydroid Krasis or Seraph of the Scales , Gruul can trample her over, or burn her, or kill you before it sticks, etc.
Point is, in current standard it is a bad card.
