Just kidding. I have no idea if they really are or not, but this Dragons of Tarkir pair have been working so far! The main focus of this deck though is Nekusar, the Mindrazer, so yes it's Nekusar splashing white!

History

I've been playing Nekusar for a long time before Commander 2016 and my playgroup could generally deal with me because of the amount of answers I would draw them into. You can only play so many counterspells right? Frustrated, I put him away for awhile and moved on to other decks. Fast forward to 2016 when I was looking through partner pairs trying to find something to build. Of course, I came across the Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix and Vial Smasher the Fierce combo and wanted to build that at first. But then I got to thinking, what does green offer this kind of deck? Other than Kydele and ramp options, not much. So instead, I looked at options with white instead of green and found WAY more cards to use as a splash than green. And thus, the deck came into fruition.

The Commanders

So why Vial Smasher the Fierce and Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker? Well, for starters, they give me the colors I need to play Nekusar, the Mindrazer and be able to control the board more so than just Grixis could do. But they aren't just there for show! They put in some real work for the deck too. Being able to dish out even more damage AND have commander damage as an alternate wincon is really good. Ishai in particular is really useful as a distraction/threat and (with enough counters on him) can still be useful even with Humility on the field. Plus I think this is a unique take on these partners in particular.

Why you will/won't like this deck

You will like this deck if...

• You like drawing a ton of cards

• You like to play control

• You like multiple ways to win

• You like playing with Non-creature cards the most (Enchantments, artifacts, etc.)

• You like a deck where the commander is not essential to the strategy

You might not like this deck if...

• You love swarming the board with creatures or lands

• You hate giving people resources in the form of card draw

• You hate playing stax effects

• You think Kydele, Chosen by Kruphix and Vial Smasher the Fierce are a better partner pair

My meta

So a lot of these cards are going to be meta dependent, as they should be since this IS a control deck, so here's my meta that I most play with:

-Kozilek, the Great Distortion: Eldrazi tribal, ramps fast into those dang eldrazis

- Ezuri, Claw of Progress : Typical build with Sage of Hours as the main way to win

-Saskia the Unyielding: Out of the box, wins sometimes though because the player politics like a politician

-Gisa and Geralf: Zombie tribal

-Breya, Etherium Shaper: Upgraded pre-con, just an artifact goodstuff deck

-Prossh, Skyraider of Kher: foodchain Combo, easily one of the scariest players

Those are the usual players, the rest aren't reliably playing with us yet, but I'll update as the group changes

Things I'm trying to improve in the deck

Right now it's suffering in that it can't control the board enough. So I'm trying different ways to slow the game down and make people just draw. Yes, that does mean I'm gonna try some land destruction, the Taboo!

Any Suggestions for how to help control the game better would be greatly appreciated

The maybe board shows cards I'm trying out or have tried out but are on the sidelines while I try other cards in the deck. I'll update this Primer-thing? as the deck evolves. Feel free to give some feedback and an UPVOTE would be greatly appreciated!
