Sideboard

My version of a fast paced Selvala infinite mana combo deck.

This deck is around using Selvala, Heart of the Wilds or one of the back up mana tappers such as Karametra's Acolyte or Priest of Titania to tap and untap infinite times creating infinite mana. Then using one of the mana sinks to win the game.

This can happen super quickly and we've geared the deck towards a turn 2 Selvala and trying to go infinite turn 4 (sometimes 3 although its a bit tougher)

Untap Pieces

we have a few untap pieces that will allow us to go infinite depending on if we can tap for 4 to 6 mana.

  • Staff of Domination - we need to tap for 6 to go infinite but staff has the added benefit of being able to draw our entire deck afterwards

  • Sword of the Paruns - we only need to tap for 5 to go infinite 3 to untap and 1 to tap Selvala and we have a loop of +1

  • Umbral Mantle - we only need to tap for 5 to go infinite, same as above.

It's worth saying that if we're using one of the Alternative creatures to Selvala we need 1 less mana as they dont require paying 1 to tap.

Situational Untappers

we currently have a 3 or 4 untappers that either work once per turn or need an additional piece to go infinite. Often just being able to tap Selvala twice per turn or 3 times depending on the untapper is enough to gain a huge advantage, Or portenitally enough to start the engine if we have something like Omnath, Locus of Mana, Heroes' Bane or Chameleon Colossus There's been games where I havent gone infinite but by tapping Selvala 3 times i have created 500+ mana which is game winning.

Power Matters

we currently have 7 creatures in the deck dedicated to giving us a high power creature to work with Selvala but we also have a 5 additional mana sinks that will work as a back up.

  • Phyrexian Soulgorger is particularly good in this category it allows us to win turn 3.

  • T1 - Land, Mana Dork

  • T2 - Land, Selvala
  • T3 - Land, Phyrexian Soulgorger 1 floating mana, Tap Selvala for 8, play and equip any of the 3 untapers above and we have created our loop. As long as we have a mana sink in hand or we had staff of domination we win.

Things to Note

  • 1 - Avoid turn 2 ramp, we want to always be casting a turn 2 Selvala. So stick with turn 1 ramp only.

  • 2 - The deck is classified as illegal due to Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary which is banned in CMDR. it's in the sideboard just waiting for the day it get unbanned, It might not ever get unbanned but if it does we're ready.

  • 3 - Phyrexian Dreadnought is an option that most will run in cEDH, as you can play it and before you sac it tap Selvala for 12, this can be enough similar to Phyrexian Soulgorger to win the game but it's a bit of an over kill card for non cedh games. so I don't run it. but its a good addition.

Winning with big mana

we have a bunch of ways to win once we get our mana,

There are other ways but this will give you a sense of how to win.

Deck layout

I strongly believe that the best way to build and view a deck is by the reasons why a card is in the deck. A few times in the past people have said that they don't like the custom categories used, if this is you just switch it back but Knowing that we have 11 tutors, 11 turn 1 ramps cards is much more valuable than knowing we have 34 creatures and 10 sorcery.

Sideboard

There are so many options to consider for Selvala that when I started making the deck I had a huge list of cards that I cut away. The Sideboard are that list. It's just to see options if you feel like something doesn't belong.

These sorts of Selvala decks have been around for a while, Just wanted to make my own. It's fun and super strong
