Maybeboard

Still a work in progress, but decently fleshed out.

Plan is to ramp up to a cycling value engine which snowballs into different win cons. With enough gas, you should be able to cycle through your whole deck (multiple times if necessary) to either kill the table with damage pings triggered by draw/discard or win with Laboratory Maniac or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries.

Here are some value engine synergies to be on the lookout for:

Draw engine - top priority to make the snowball possible. About half the deck is cycle, so if you can improve the cycle draw then you'll be improving the odds significantly that you draw into more cycle:

Mana engine - more mana is always better, especially to play meaty spells and win out.

Cycle engine - the main pieces for winning the game

  • New Perspectives is a top target once the draw engine is in place. Adding this piece to draw-positive support, you'll look to rip through the majority of your deck to bust out combo pieces.
  • Fluctuator can be similarly powerful if you happen to have the cycle cards on hand which only cost 2 colorless to cycle, making the cycle free, especially if you can bounce that same cycle card back to hand.
  • The classic Niv-Mizzet, Parun + Niv-Mizzet, Visionary combo will also let you rip through your whole deck to find anything, if not just ping them out right. Add moderate mana and Elixir of Immortality for big damage.
  • If you can manage to deck yourself with the draw described above, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Laboratory Maniac turn it into a win.
  • The pings from Niv-Mizzet, Parun, Drannith Stinger, and Magmakin Artillerist add up pretty quickly, especially in more aggressive pods, and themselves can win games.
  • Tokens can also bring the hurt. Gavi's dino cats, Krakens from Ominous Seas, and soldiers from Valiant Rescuer should be used to win if given the opportunity.
