Gavi, Nest Warden is a great cycling commander, and you can have Zirda, the Dawnwaker be your companion and make the cycling that much better

Well tabernat I tried to keep as much as the precon as I could, but the upgrade was three-fold:

1/ Upgrade the mana basse

2/ Add cycling pay off cards

3/ Ability to draw cards during everyone’s turn

I kept Eternal Dragon because it was an « on flavor » way of having ramp/card advantage. I only use it for the Plainscycling to either get a basic plains or a dual land. Plus the cycling cost can be reduced to zero with Gavi, Nest Warden or even Fluctuator. Although I haven’t been able to test it much, heavy card draw is mandatory and ramp is lacking. I’d suggest adding more mana rocks and counter spells to protect your tokens and artifacts from wraths.

Ephara, God of the Polis might work super well. Since you create a chump blocker each turn, and you have altars to turn them into mana...

“I made a creature last turn, trigger Ephara, God of the Polis to draw a card. I’ll cycle this, that’s my second card drawn, I trigger Gavi, Nest Warden to create my Dino-cat token.”

Next Player’s turn: Repeat.

In you have out Phyrexian Altar you’re creating a colored mana on each other player’s turn. If you have Ashnod's Altar out it’s 2 colorless mana.

Okay but Pir, Imaginative Rascal and Toothy, Imaginary Friend // Gavi, Nest Warden and 2/2 Dinosaur Cat // Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter and Mowu, Loyal Companion // Trynn, Champion of Freedom and Silvar, Devourer of the Free // Brallin, Skyshark Rider  Flip and Shabraz, the Skyshark // Nikara, Lair Scavenger and Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel // Cazur, Ruthless Stalker and Ukkima, Stalking Shadow  Flip // All of the Companions from Ikoria // Gideon Blackblade and Trusted Pegasus // Konda, Lord of Eiganjo and Isamaru, Hound of Konda // Mother of Runes and Wall of Runes // Okay that last one was a joke but there are SO many good bois with good masters in the world of Magic. I need a thesis on what makes Haldan and Pako the best.

Hi there! I'm a big fan of the cycling ability and the deck looks terrific.

Unfortunately, I think it's maybe too competitive for my playgroup and so I was considering to build Gavi, Nest Warden focusing more on the token ability (I do love tokens!). Reading through your description tho, I saw this:

"Building around her token making ability requires significant commitment to be able to cycle at least two cards a turn or have a reliable draw engine and limits deck construction significantly."

and I was asking myself why are you talking about cycling two cards? That's probably true if I play in a reactive way (which would probably be the best thing to do), but if I play proactive I just have to circle one card (for free) during my turn to get my token, as I've already drawn a card for turn, right?

I dunno, maybe I'm misinterpreting something here. Anyway keep up the good work and those spicy backgrounds!

I'm in love with the new cycle commander Gavi, Nest Warden and this is my attempt to upgrade the deck with a more focused direction and win condition. Looking for feedback and/or upvotes!
